And a nice day to you as well! Thanks for the praise, not often I get it. You may be pleased to know that I'm going to do this same kind of analysis thing with all the A-Sides and it's music, so if you want to see more, stick around!
Credit to Lena Raine for the soundtrack, but also have to credit the sound designers. (Assuming it isn't just Lena Raine again, idk) Madeline and Badeline's voices, as well as the kind of shriek-like sounds that play as the tentacles rise out of the ground to emphasize Badeline's own anger with every sentence are incredible as well. The scene almost doesn't feel the same without them.
The game's sounds are just first-rate all around anyhow. They did incredibly with their simple pixel level design paired with hauntingly realistic sounds. It's a fairly unique contrast well executed
When I got to this scene I was clenched. I struggled in the last stage and seeing this left me on an alert state, the transition of the music made that feeling even more apparent. This game's music is too good.
I think the best way to sum up what makes the music so good, is Lena's efforts to make you feel what Madeline is feeling, and it's not just the music, almost all of the aspects of this game do that too.
wow this is underrated! i never tried going down, and the music fades back to its original state so fluently and at 2:40 the music just waits for you to finish the dialogue for the drop… Lena Raine is epic
The absolute best. When I played this scene the first time, I was absolutely blown away from the sheer dynamics of the music and fluid movement and angelic tilesets that I immediately wanted to do something special for it. It deserved it at the very least
After 3 whole years, i still come back to this ost every couple of months, get on the bed, close my eyes, put on my headphones at max volume and listen. It gives me goosebumps. It's just such an invasive song
This is one of few examples of a in-game action-driven soundtrack that still manages to have a very recognizable musical motive. Action-driven music is often sounding very generic when listened to without context. I think this idea of having the same rhytm and mixing two different instrumentations of it is genius.
I considered prefacing with it but I wasn't sure if it would make the most sense to those who don't know to start out with a completely different song.
@@Thoughtesque what's there to be surprised about? It's an interesting and intriguing topic to anyone who's interested in either celeste or music, especially in video games. Simple presentation that's straight to the point, well analysed and not dragging out longer than it has to be. It gud :)
But it's done so uniquely! So perfectly, in such a way that no game could replicate. Paired with great visuals and storytelling, it's one of the best cutscenes in a game I've ever seen! If you don't like it, you do you
@@Thoughtesque I like it a lot, but that specific example has a lot of focus on dynamic music, and for good reason. It's a great tool. Celeste is the best looking game I know, and coupled with lena rane's music, it's honestly a masterpiece.
Why in the fuckiest fuck does this video have ads running on it? I don't qualify for the google partnership program, not even close. There is no way RUclips can get away with making money off of my personal accomplishments and work without me seeing a cent. What a paradoxical policy...
I feel like literally no one in this comment section has ever heard the term 'adaptive music' and acts like celeste is the first and only game to do it effectively. Adaptive audio is ALWAYS good, Celeste isn't unique for making it work.
It's not solely the adaptivity that makes this great. It's sequence *plus* the emotional synth designs paired with a haunting albeit simple melody *plus* the smooth transitions in the music, again paired with the scene's momentum. Even though adaptive music itself isn't unique, Celeste did many unique concepts with it. I appreciate that you voiced your opinion on this, one that stands out; however, I can't help but disagree with you when you claim Celeste isn't unique with it's audio.
cool video but watching you not take the feathers going up EVEN if you directly chose to so that you can show off the music change, it still makes me triggered. JUST TAKE THE FEATHERS YOUR HURTING MY EYES
The fact that Lena Raine worked on Deltarune's music is a blessing. Seriously you don't want me to start talking about Undertale's soundtrack because I'll never shut up for years. It's too perfect, as if the stars aligned. It's hard to believe one person worked on it like that

What about Madeline meeting Cecilia and saying her final goodbye?
The anxiety is literally rising up from within the music
It really is simply genius
Lena Raine is an amazing artist, she captures feelings in music like almost no other game artists can

I love how the synth is designed. You can't get this specific emotion in anything else. This is the only song like this
It's fun to watch this with a single functioning headphone
Wouldn't the music just fade out and then fade back in?
@@Thoughtesque Yup, it feels exactly like that

yeah it epic
The calm synth music sometimes (it comes and fades with the melody) also plays in the background during the conversation with Theo.
I know that, but I was reviewing Starjump and not Madeline and Theo. Deserved an honorable mention however and it's some neat trivia
This is actually very interesting! I already liked this song a lot, but I never thought about it like this. I appreciate it a lot more.
I really love your comment, I made sure to put it as simply as I can but also point out important details so that anybody can understand
i dont even play celeste but this is genuinely my favourite song i absolutely love it
It's a broad competition, too. This song is simply too powerful to resist
Probably my favourite track from Celeste! Amazing analysis!
Starjump is such a special song, it needed to be analyzed eventually, although I could never fully do it justice like some can
Not to mention it fades perfectly from the song "Madeline and Theo"
I considered prefacing with it but I wasn't sure if it would make the most sense to those who don't know to start out with a completely different song.
