Lestat lives in open defiance of the vampire code that Armand had for himself and his coven. Whilst Armand lived in the shadows and held to the old beliefs of his human faith by living a simple life, Lestat is flamboyant, hedonistic and arrogantly living amongst humans. Lestat's irresistible force was so alluring to Armand that he couldn't resist trying to make him his companion. Lestat took advantage of such an opportunity and used Armand to obtain the secrets of hidden vampire powers by acting as if he was attracted to him. It might have worked out differently for Armand if he hadn't interfered with Lestat and Nicholas' relationship. But Armand is his own worst enemy when it comes to his toxic approach to romantic interests. Lestat made sure to pay him some karma after what he did to Nicholas and jilted Armand as soon as he got what he wanted from him. Armand wanted Lestat badly but hated him as well after he used him for his own gain. Armand got exactly what he deserved. Don't mess with Lestat. He is a clever one.
Everyone is jealous of Lestat bc they choose to be trapped by their fears and insecurities and Lestat laughs and LIVES a full life in the face of his own. It’s envy at its purest form. He’s a lover. He’s vicious but doesn’t pretend to not be. All the others lead a lie, live all or some parts of themselves in secret and they hate him for living out loud.
Agreed! Lestat is unapologetically authentic, for better or for worse... and never denied himself the pleasures that are offered to him nor is he afraid of taking up space ❤
And then there is me, who as a human, loved the figure of Lestat so much that I cultivated a sense of esteem towards him. The more I read Anne Rice's books, the more this feeling grew to the point that I got a Lestat tattoo on myself❤.
