      I’m not sure if you are an American but how do you go about preserving a piece of history that represents an idea that is no longer excepted without looking like one of those people? That’s a serious question just because people are ripping American history apart right now and I fear we will revert to an earlier point in our history without it.

Quite amazing that the original fittings, doors and cables are still in place. Would be an interesting spot to try out the metal detector, especially around the gun emplacements. OOHHH I love the Unterwasserboots and the Wolf Packs! 4:46 I spotted something I dont think you saw? Right in the middle a telegraph pole that would have been a mast for the the ULF wireless communication - Das Funken Raum! It has a wire still attached. The length of that wire determines the frquency of the radio signal to talk to the Wolf Pack. I will come with my tools and white paint we will restore this mighty edifice. Oil up the hoist so it runs quietly and smoothly.😉👍👍👏👏👏👏

  • @Just-me-Laura
    @Just-me-Laura 4 года назад

    Very, very interesting HH & EE. Beautiful view of Atlantic with bunkers strategically placed to be most effective. Wonder where all the guns ended up? Bunkers were built so well, that they still look structurally sound. Germans sure know how to build things to last. 1.6 metre walls, thick and solid. Just like my standard VW Beetle, which I will never give up. Too bad some of the writing was painted over. I was trying to figure what the writing said on that one wall, something about hope? Again, good thing you had EE with you to direct you through the bunker mazes. 😊 I too wonder what happened in that one room, which looked like it had been burned or blasted? Also, wondered what was in the huge bunker/building, which roof you walked on that was 35 metres? Excellent drone shots showing the layout of the bunkers and other structures. Did EE fly the drone? Definitely would be scary when the camera light went out. Looking forward to part 2 & 3 and the long video. Again thank you for sharing and keeping history alive as it is so important. Take care HH & EE ❤.

    • @WW2HistoryHunter
      @WW2HistoryHunter  4 года назад

      Beetle , are you mad,,,,he he. Well that is actually a pretty decent car if you ask me. There are so many details there to look at and learn from and there are many bunkers there that are still closed and a secret must be there :) EE did fly all the drone shots there and he is getting good at it i have to say. More to come very soon and take care , dont work to much and greetings from us.

    Airplanes, ships, guns, all important tools of war. But what is impressive in all of your videos is the concrete! Of course, that usually is all that is left! ;) But the Germans used so much concrete on everything they built! The engineering they used in so many things was very, very impressive. It is too bad that it all was used for such evil. Thanks again for sharing another great adventure!

    In the first, long narrow room you went into, you called it torpedo storage. That doesnt make sense to me, because how do you get the torpedos out? There are two 90* corners. I would think that would be too difficult to get them out. Maybe it just held other things.

    WOW, great find great location eagle eyes and dad. There is so much to see here and it raises so many questions. I suspect the out door cabins and barracks were pretty comfortable for submariners to get a small amount of down time? Was this area a simple weapons resupply or did it include additional supplies? I suspect a fairly comfortable assignment for the troops as you wouldn't want them setting fuses etc. - mistakes would be fatal.... Lobe the video... Be Safe Be Well Be Careful...

      the u-boat crews had many places to recover , rest and have pure relaxation time in the area including even a movie theater :) Thanks Ted and stay safe.

    Torpedoes are very expensive to build. They could cost more than the ship they were shooting it at. That's the reason WW2 Submarines had large caliber artillery guns mounted on the deck. It cost far less to sink a ship with a gun than with a torpedo. The convoys ended that option as they included War Ships that could and did shoot back with artillery or depth charges.

    Those naval storage bunkers are just incredible and definitely should be preserved. Those were carved into the side of the mountain and are still in great shape, despite not being maintained all of these years. German engineering was outstanding truly. I can't imagine how amazing that adventure would have been exploring those positions and those bunkers, especially with that wonderful view of the sea. No wonder someone was inspired to convert an old barracks site into a cabin. Once the vegetation was cut back, what a great view they had from the back porch of their cabin! As a fellow Navy veteran, I can relate to your excitement about this site. Very cool, indeed, my friend. Well done, as always, by you and Eagle Eyes!

    This was particularly interesting as my late Dad was a submariner during WW2. He was great at describing things and really got the imagination going, but it's a pleasure to watch your videos to bring things to life.
    Dad was an explosives expert and I remember asking him about the dangers of carrying torpedoes around. He told us that most were put together and primed aboard the subs as you explained, to prevent disasters. They usually waited for the Captain's order before preparing depth charges and torpedoes etc.
    I have the greatest respect for submarine crews as conditions were not always pleasant and it was a dangerous occupation.
    Many thanks for your always-informative videos, which are nearly as good as my Dad's explanations. That "almost" is not meant as a slight on your excellent work, by the way - it's just because he was my Dad.

    While you were interested in the Luftwaffe growing up, am sure the submarines have a special place in your heart. Showing the defensive positions for this location was interesting to see. Seeing the torpedo bunkers must have been something for you to see but actually being able to go into some of them had to be exciting. You can scratch that off your bucket list lol. Your so lucky to be able to go to these locations and explore.

    You should see if you can go to Heligoland. I know it’s corona time but maybe after. It was a huge rock on the middle of the North Sea. They used it mostly as a resupply depot for uboats in ww2 and as a sub pen in ww1. I don’t know if there is a way to get into the bunker itself though

    Im pretty sure that first bunker isnt a torpedo storage room. I think it would be extremely hard to get the torpedoes out. I would think it would have pulleys and or tracks to transport and move heavy torpedoes. That bunker also had zig zags that would make getting long torpedoes out very hard. I could be wrong but i would think that was a bomb shelter and or storage for smaller arms and or ammo. The second bunker looks more like a torpedo storage room than the first bunker. It has the hoist on the ceiling. Like the video anyways.
