    Well you may not like it but its perfect for my needs. I just ordered one, going to take it to get footage of Bigfoot. I'll make sure to record it in night mode and move the camera as much as possible 😉

      I use Ordro AC3's for my Paranormal Investigations. I have 2 versions of the AC3. The full package Ordro AC3 has more features like a telescopic view mode. The basic AC3 does not. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the 2 in 1 adapter... seems the mini usb loosens over time, and I have to buy new adapters every 2-3 years, or open up the camera and press in the little tabs on the female jacks in the camera. What is the best Chinese camcorders in your opinion?

    Great video! I love your commentary on these cheap "brands". Question: Does this camera have a date/time stamp? I want to get one to do those 'choppy vintage home videos'. Unless you can recommend another camera 😊 Your insight would be very useful 👍

      Thanks. Most of these cameras have a date/time stamp option. I can't remember 100% that this one does, but I don't remember ever testing one that didn't. Most of them have it and default to having it turned on. But I don't specifically remember one way or the other with this one. I'll check if I get a chance.

    These types of cameras are bad! I been buying up old pocket camcorders like the Flips or Kodak pocket cams from 2011 and they have far better image quality and are cheaper. Some even have mic jacks and shoot real 1080p and even better 720p @60fps. Great content!

      I had a Kodak Zi6 way back when. One of those or a Zi8 for $20-$30 on ebay would be way better than this Ordro.

    Hello, I am Korean. After using this camera for 2-3 months, this camera does not have a focus function. The camera purchase site introduces the focus distance as 1m to infinity, but in reality, it focuses at a decent distance of 2.7m and does not focus well at 15m to 20m (especially at night). This camera is better suited for outdoor shooting during the day than indoor shooting and night shooting. Also, the camera's battery is seriously light, and if you just play with it without shooting, it will discharge in 35-40 minutes. Also, this camera has a 16x digital zoom, but when compared to a cell phone, it is a 6x digital zoom. Also, the surface of the camera's lens is made of plastic and is slightly crooked (to the point where it is not noticeable), so when shooting lights, etc., the afterimage of the light is reflected on the side of the light and is visible..... Also, there is a lot of operating noise when shooting, so I recommend installing an external microphone. Also, the zoom control button makes a lot of noise, so I applied adhesive (not recommended for people who do not handle adhesives a lot). Even though I did that, the noise is a little It's reduced and if you want to adjust the brightness, try pressing the buttons above and below the ok button... I saw this video and found out that there is a big iron (I will remove it in the future to prevent stamina drain)
    Overall Rating: This camera sucks

    I personally paid 40 € for it but it is useless, at 750p it starts to see jerks with the night vision at 1080 you cannot absolutely use it because the view is bad, moreover it is broken the thread to screw a bracket or tripod.

      What is your budget? What do you need to do with the camera? Most of these cheap cameras that have IR don't have image stabilization or optical zoom. Many have terrible audio. Other than having IR and a "old" look, what capabilities do you need the camera to have?

    All Chinese Camcorders have that metal block weight for a cheap way of helping with stability. It's not just a Ordro calling card. I've taken Onshowy, FHD and Wilkera's apart... I'm sure Andoer and all the others do as well.

    • @bigtb1717
      @bigtb1717  3 года назад +3

      I do realize other brands do the same thing. Many of the cameras are identical with different names stuck on it anyway. There are a few of these cheap cameras out there that don't have blocks of metal in them, but most do. But I don't buy for a second that they do it for stability. Ordro initially told me the same thing in an email, before all but admitting they did it so the camera wouldn't feel like a toy. A few ounces of weight isn't going to make a noticeable difference in stability. Unless you are talking a lot of weight or weight extended out to increase the moment arm, a bit of weight alone won't make much difference. All of these cameras claim to have digital image stabilization, but they don't. If they cared about stability they would make the digital image stabilization work. I firmly believe the reason for the metal blocks is the fact that these cameras are basically web-cams in a camcorder shell and they would feel far too light if they didn't have them.

  • @krollpeter
    @krollpeter 3 года назад +2

    It is possible to produce a $ 50 camcorder which does take better and probably acceptable videos. Although, it would have no features and only very basic settings.
    If they did that and said honestly this is not a professional camera but just a standard camcorder to record some memories in bright sunlight, it might be what some would be looking for.

    • @bigtb1717
      @bigtb1717  3 года назад +1

      That's kinda what I've been hoping for out of these camcorders. Something that simply records video. No frills and cheap, but works. I was hoping this camera would have been that. But there were just unfortunate issues.

    Hi!
    I'm currently looking for a retro camera. I watched your video and noticed the pros and cons you mentioned. I want to use the camera to record daily life while keeping that old-school aesthetic.
    I found one in the online market in my country for 150 reais (which I think is about 30 dollars). It's a bit challenging to find cameras here, and it took a lot of effort to find this listing. Do you think it's a good idea to buy it?

    • @bigtb1717
      @bigtb1717  3 года назад +2

      A camera like the SX150 IS will have a better lens, image stabilization, autofocus, optical zoom and everything will likely work as designed. So in those ways it will be far better than any of these generic camcorders. Image quality and sound quality probably won't be amazing, but great for $50 if you can find one for that. It will be far better than the HDV-V12.

    • @bigtb1717
      @bigtb1717  Год назад

      Action cameras tend to be durable and should hold up to high temps, however, they will overheat if you record at high resolution and framerates for very long at a stretch. Camcorders in general are pretty good for higher temps, but I don't have any personal experience at in extreme high temps. But if you need to record for long stretches at a time, camcorders are a good bet.
      Might be worth looking for something used.
      Other than holding up to high temps, what features are important? Zoom, stabilization, image quality, wide angle, etc.?

      I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. Did you accidentally delete some pictures or vidoes? If so, there may be programs to recover deleted files, as long as they haven't been overwritten and the media hasn't been formatted. But I'm not familiar with anything specific.

    • @bigtb1717
      @bigtb1717  2 года назад +2

      Possibly, but there are some things to consider. First, audio is often poor at best on these cheep cameras. Sometimes it won't even show up at all, depending on what editing software you use. I've also had occasional issues with odd frame rates and odd file formats. I've had memory card glitches, cameras freezing/locking up, weak battery holders that can allow the battery to pop free.
      Some are better than others, but the quality is inconsistent. Basically, it might work just fine for what you want, but there's always a slight risk when buying something like this.
      Battery life typically sits around a hour on these types of cameras. Also a bit inconsistent. I've had some last much less than an hour, but it could have been a battery issue or something like that. An hour or so is common.
