I still can’t decide between the 2020 version and the 2007 version 2020: AMAZING design 2007: WHAT ON EARTH IS COOLER THAN A LEGO AT-AT WALKING ON ITS OWN?!?!?!?!
I'm just really annoyed that none of the AT-ATs after 2007 have printed pieces on the joints of the legs, they look so good and it's such a missed opportunity.
Searched and found this, I was wondering how the troops got off the AT-AT: "The funny part about this is that Lucasfilm had no clue what the answer to this was. They just put them in ESB and thought they were cool, without really thinking about the practicality. However, while preparing the toy lineup, Kenner called them up. Uh, guys? We're trying to design the new AT-AT toy, and we're not sure how the people get on and off. How's it supposed to work? Lucasfilm didn't have an answer. So, the older books like the Star Wars Source Book or the Star Wars Technical Journal will tell you that they got down onto their knees, lowered ramps, and had troops run down the ramps from the body. However, when the Incredible Cross Sections book came out, the authors derived a different theory. They suggested that rather than have the AT-AT kneel, they instead projected large booms from the body, and have troops rappel down zip lines to the ground. It's therefore possible that both are correct, and AT-ATs can do either one, but it's not really clear. The technical drawings of Cross Sections, Technical Journal, and Essential Guide all differ in their descriptions of AT-ATs. In other words, the authors just made them up. But usually, the way that canon gets around that is to say that there were many different varieties of AT-AT walkers. In fact, the old Source Book says that some AT-ATs could be configured to carry AT-ST walkers inside them! So it's definitely likely that they had different configurations." -David Eaton, on Quora
In Return of the Jedi, when Luke surrenders himself to Vader on Endor, you can clearly see an AT-AT standing next to a raised platform with an extended walkway connecting it.
That's probably how they boarded, but getting off would be a different story. It's really cool to imagine an AT-AT getting on its knees for troops to leave, but ziplines are cool too. Let's hope we see one of these happening in a film or show.
@@coconut8192 they also show in the games such as battlefront and jedi fallen order you enter from the body side doors then walk in through the neck into the head to pilot it
The UCS AT-AT release has brought me back here and has confirmed what I have always thought. Apart from the original 4483 the other Walkers have way to skinny legs and this is a big deal in the overall look of the complete AT-AT.
Personally, when he turned it on and I saw it actually moving, I thought the motorized AT-AT looked like shit as well. Maybe it isn't true, but it looked like a strong breeze could have knocked it over.
I have a theory for the “squinting” view port slit on the new one. For one of the close up shots of the head in empire strikes back, they use a model with a noticeably thinner view port. I’m guessing they used that shot as reference when designing it.

I don’t see outdated building techniques as a flaw if the set had its heart in the right place, and no one is gonna tell me the 2003 at at didn’t give its all for us Star Wars LEGO fans back in the day.

I was really confused as to why my AT-AT didn't look like any of these. Then I remembered that I got it for a discount but it was missing the box and one of the bags. So mine is apparently a VERY heavily modified 2014 one.
From 2018 onwards I've noticed Lego has become super dedicated to their new meta of focusing on accurate appearing kits and I think that has a lot to do with their shift in target audience with changes to their marketing. Now days they have fully embraced the older generation of Lego collectors who care more about accuracy and display model quality kits than kids do when it comes to their expensive show piece model kits with focusing on marketing their different ranges at specific target audiences within their customer base. And this also was forced on them with shifting customer trends. Lego seems to only really have two age group audiences now; Adults and Kids, that's it. As most teens are more interested in video games and sports currently.
I remember owning the 2014 one and when I was holding it at 7 years old, I had so much trouble building it and in the end I decided to just tear it apart and now looking back at it, I really regret it and I hope to get one to have as part of my collection
I think the 2003 AT-AT had the best design from all of these models. He looks by far more like the "real" AT-AT than the others and the old grey just goes better with any set. But since this is my opinion based on the Lego Sets I had as child, im clearly biased there.

I have the 2003 AT-AT, and I've ended up messing with the neck connection to keep it on. While I still love it, I eagerly await the 2020's release- maybe even going so far as to pick up a few of em ;D
Some details are just best on 4483: the legs are properly tugged in underneath the body, whereas on the 2020 version the top joint panels stick out slightly. The side guns on the 2020 version are also situated very far out from the side panels, and sit oddly low. Just a few observations from someone who loves the authentic look of the original filming models
10:03 Referring to the head and neck joint..."Kids could probably break this easy" We did. That head fell off so many times I considered gluing it when I owned the set.
I can honestly see why. A while back, me and my dad built our own custom AT-AT because we didn't have an official one. It was actually around the size of a UCS AT-AT. Around two minutes after we completed it, it fell apart. It didn't have sufficient support due to other factors. Unfortunately, that's a problem I can't see TLG overcoming currently, they've said so themselves.
giving the fact that you have all of the at-at's i am going to rate them like this 1. disappointed by lack of playability and space, the fact that only one at-at driver fits, very inaccurate but I love the color-pattern used by lego. 2. disappointed by the lack of playability that comes with lack of space (2 in 1). Good figures but the fact that it walks by his own is just absolutely mindblowing. 3. disappointed in every way. 4. i like it a lot, lots of space, good figures, good props(blaster, speederbike) and i love the playability. Very cool set over all 5. maybe the best out of all of them, the most accurate, maybe slightly better then 2007 but not by a lot.
I realized that when Ryan was going through the figures, the 2014 SnowTrooper with White Glove and Waist piece is actually A Commander, so The UCS At At isn’t the only At At with a SnowTrooper commander. (You can tell by the torso Printing)
Walmart has the AT-AT on clearance for $100. So glad I picked it up. Always wanted an AT-AT as a kid but the sets were always too expensive for me. Wanted to see how the others stacked up against it. 2007 looks pretty cool as well. There's something about that original that I love too. Probably just the nostalgia.
Just bought the 2020 walker I’ve been working way too much to relax and finish it but I’m pretty satisfied with my purchase. Also I love the fact you include inflation adjustments I just appreciate that a lot
About that strange decal color for 2010 version: I have the European release of this set and it has a clear back for the face sticker. Apparently LEGO provided some of those AT-ATs with white-backed sticker sheets by accident. The box art suggests that opaque sticker was an initial design, but eventually they never made them in grey. Transparent sticker looks better, but it's still a bit fuzzy because of the piece's texture.

The council of AT-ATs
2:50 I got this one for 70 bucks on eBay out of the box but still in the bags with all the minifigures and I love it
I may not be first,
I may not be last,
But when I see a MandRproductions video,
I click fast

@@doggo6024 No? I made this up. Unless u mean something else.

GorgeousMoon573 where’s ur proof Sherlock
Millenium Studios honestly I could just say every new video on RUclips lo,
Love the vids man. Never thought i'd get back into LEGO, Thanks man!!!
There should be a UCS AT-AT
Like he said, the motorised one technically is
I can honestly see why.
Hobo With An Oboe whats UCS?
@@ghosthawkk Ultimate Collector's Series.
@@ghosthawkk are u serious
giving the fact that you have all of the at-at's i am going to rate them like this
1. disappointed by lack of playability and space, the fact that only one at-at driver fits, very inaccurate but I love the color-pattern used by lego.
2. disappointed by the lack of playability that comes with lack of space (2 in 1). Good figures but the fact that it walks by his own is just absolutely mindblowing.
3. disappointed in every way.
4. i like it a lot, lots of space, good figures, good props(blaster, speederbike) and i love the playability. Very cool set over all
5. maybe the best out of all of them, the most accurate, maybe slightly better then 2007 but not by a lot.
I realized that when Ryan was going through the figures, the 2014 SnowTrooper with White Glove and Waist piece is actually A Commander, so The UCS At At isn’t the only At At with a SnowTrooper commander. (You can tell by the torso Printing)
“Man painstakingly scrutinizes his doggos for 25 minutes straight”
Who could have done this
The motorized AT-AT is coolest because it can walk (!), but the 2020 version is most acurate and looks best.
Imagine if the 2020 AT-AT was motorized
@@teafool753 then we would not have the interior spacing that we have, depending on how they'd get the moving mechanism to work.
@@SWDude2710 well we could kinda scale the size up?
@@teafool753 maybe, but that price increase though.
@@SWDude2710 yea true
Had no clue there was so much
Walmart has the AT-AT on clearance for $100.
When I saw the head of the 2010 version the first thing I thought was, did they use a shovel as turret

What set was the "monstrosity" I want to know more about it
Ya
Ah I remember the one on the left side. I was so proud of it.
Great comparison video, my favorite is the 2014 because it was the first over 1,000 piece LEGO I got but when I moved it got lost.

I don’t know why but the one from 2014 just feels more pleasant to look at than the one from 2020

Thankyou so much for doing these reviews and ranking all together I am buying the 2020 At- At!
