      Man, I get the need for it--but especially with this song there's an entire journey from start to finish (complete with ebbs and flows, ups and downs, and intensity of volume) and it is composed almost like classical piece. So truly I feel bad that you aren't getting to experience the song as it was intended. Do what you gotta do though! Another excellent video

He plays that erie sound you hear with a cello bow on his guitar. YOU HAVE TO SEE IT LIVE !!!!! Get a copy of a video called "The Song Remains the Same" WATCH IT !!!!!! You can thank me later.       I was at a party with a friend tripping , Led Zeppelin was on the stereo, we both experienced the vaulted ceiling invert, it had to be the music.
      After that we went downstairs where a guy was injecting golf balls with butane and teeing off into the woods (it was dark, wet, and cold) I can still remember the tracers, you know what I mean 😉
      It was a memorable day 🤣

    I actually heard this whole album performed at The Fillmore East before it was released; I had gone to see Iron Butterfly, top billed, no one even knew who Led Zeppelin was.... feel lucky to be here to tell this story....they sure knew who.they were after!!

    I saw them live in 1970...back when tickets costs $5 and you could get 50 ft from the stage. My ears rang for 4 days. I got goosebumps too!

      Larry Pincus I saw them twice in Chicago. I love watching this guys reaction to them. When he said it was trippy I thought yeah a lot of times back then we were trippy while we were listening to them. I know I was trippy at their concerts both times. Zeppelin is and always will be the best band ever! Better then any rock band, blues, soul, country...........Led Zeppelin was and always will be the best band ever!

      Ahh, the good old days where the "crickets would be chirping in your ears" for days afterward. Around where I came from, we called it that even though it was just a high pitched "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE". Black Sabbath, Led Zep, Jethro Tull ... Blue Oyster Cult coming in '72 (after their name changed).
      I can't remember the year - BOC turned their concert volume down because 7 hearing people came out of one of their concerts legally deaf. Most bands turned the volume down as well after that.

    This was back in the days of Quadraphonic sound. Put up four speakers, on in each corner of your room as a kid. Then sit in the middle and those sounds came at you from all sides, criss crossing and really playing off each other that just isn't the same experience with headphones.

    The thing about Zeppelin, they were all geniuses in their craft! Zeppelin is by far, the most influential rock band of the 60’s and 70’s. From a drummers stand point, Bonham was the complete package for a rock drummer! I wish I could be a fraction, as gifted as he was! There is no band tighter, than the mighty Zep!

I said idk. He told me hop in the trailer and enjoy the ride. Opened trailer doors. Tool was in there jamming. I got in and started rolling joints while they played. They stopped, we smoked. Maynerd said Let's play the new 1 4 him. The guitars sounded like angelic chorus. Maynerd sounded like hear music angel. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Truck stopped. Opened doors. We were at a beach. Everything was Grateful Dead tye dyed. Tool sat down. They'd only brought 1 acoustic off truck. Started playing with Maynerd singing. Attracted crowd of bikini babes. I woke up.... If their next album has the angel song on it, I will totally freak out, because I dreamed it long b4 then

      Gerry Weed - I was 15 years old when I first heard Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. I was shot to the moon! And no bands have ever come up to their stature of talent...to this date. Wow! What a great youth we had having all the greatest rock bands ever!

      I'm pretty old and I grew up in the 60s and 70s. to me, there are but THREE BANDS. that top all others. #1 the Beatles. (a genre all of their own) #2. Led Zeppelin (best hard rock/heavy metal ever ever ever) #3. Pink Floyd ( a genre all their own) There are tons of other great bands of course, but to me, these are the three:) The three that can't be topped.

    The drum line in this song is other worldly. Bonham is probably the greatest drummer to ever live. The pausing also gives you time to share your thoughts. No biggie 🤷‍♀️

      @@kryptyk3 I saw John's son Jason on a VH1 show that brought together a bunch of rock gods to make a band. Him, Sebastian Bach, Uncle Ted (Nugent), Scott Ian and Even Seinfeld. Of course that band didn't go anywhere, but to see so much talent collaborate was awesome!

    Back in the day, I was high school. I was a big Led Zeppelin fan. I saw them live a couple of times. The sound you are hearing is a Chelo Bow being used on the lead guitar. They are AMAZING live.

    I've been listening to Led Zeppelin since 1969. I've heard all of their songs thousands and thousands of times. It all still gives me goose bumps and stirs my soul. They were/are the world's best. Hands down.

    Page originally did this song as a member of the Yardbirds in 1967-1968. He was looking to play the guitar with a bow. Then with the formation of Led Zeppelin he had with him, a band that could pull it off. It made it onto the debut album in 1969

      I love the reaction but I want the secondary as well. Like yes this happens but now I see with new vision. That way you get the music and later the lyrics when needed because that stand so strong your not able focus to both. They show two sides of the same coin way more often then people want to remember

    Led Zeppelin covered a lot of Black blues musicians. You might of heard some of their material in Robert Johnson and Muddy Water tracks.

Why doesn't Paul McCartney or Rush or Judas priest or Metallica or a million other well known Zeppelin fans ,who btw are actually in the business of copyrighting songs, aren't pretending to be offended by instances of plagiarism? Could it be that your knowledge of classic rock and the British Blues movement consists of a couple videos about plagiarism you happened to watch on RUclips , and you've never actually bought or listened to an album and know nothing about the music being made by English bands of that era?     "This sounds familiar" - I believe all the great songs sound familiar because they resonate with our souls. Think about every time you thought a song sounded familiar and later you realized that no other song sounded like it. I believe in my heart that some melodies, although they are totally new, resonate in our hearts and that makes them truly great. We feel like we know them already. They sound familiar. But they aren't, it's a new sound, a new melody, a new chord progression, but it's so perfect, it "resonates". We feel like we already know it because it EXISTS IN OUR SOUL ALREADY.

      @@sheiladrucker6872 although they notoriously "borrowed" heavily from elsewhere and took songwriting credit for material they did not actually write. Their live performances were not up to the standard that they delivered on studio albums. Apart from that they do have many redeeming qualities to what they contributed to the musical spectrum. What I really enjoy is seeing someone who's always exploring and impressed by different styles and areas of music history.

    Imagine the effect this had on little teenage girls actually at one of their concerts. Records and videos are one thing but live a few feet away from these guys was absolutely mind blowing. The power and energy radiating off those guys was incredible.

      Jimmy Page played a 1959 Fender Telecaster on Led Zeppelin I. The Dragon Telecaster. He got his famous 1959 Gibson Les Paul from Joe Walsh soon after.
      The original Dragon Telecaster does not exist anymore but Jimmy Page collaborated with Fender this past year to make a reissue Dragon Telecaster just like his original was setup. They are affordable too. Less than $1,500 for your very own.

    An extraordinary feat for such young musicians at the time. They put out their first 2 albums in 69, and then the third in 70, all masterpieces in my opinion

      Nah, man. You must have listened to the wrong stuff. I grew up with Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzie, Creedence, Cash, Bowie, Hendrix, Cohen, Oldfield, and a whole lot of other stuff I have forgotten. There is some great Hip Hop out there. Ever listened to Muhammad Ali spitting truth? The kids took that and ran with it. Thing is, you only remember the great stuff. Not the crap.
