You saved me 1200 dollars, I did it myself in my driveway, thank you very much. Your videos are amazing and the details are second to none.
Where you buy your dash board at im looking for a 97 Tahoe
Can’t thank you enough for this video. Well shot, easy to follow, and damn helpful!
Thanks for watching.
Happy to see the dash is mostly panels and pretty simple to handle. Im about to go look at a Tahoe, and i will change to a grey dash instead. Thanks for detailed videos
Glad it helped. Good luck with the Tahoe. Thanks for watching.
You do amazing at teaching me about my truck you make it so simple and show every step
Do you know where I can find a wire harness for a 96 chevy silverado
Excellent guide. I'm starting on my 07 silverado lbz
Thank you Sir, I watched your whole disassembly, very informative, I also am very articulate and organised much like you, I have to tackle this and your Video will have helped, I have to do it in 2 days but I got 1 up on you my GMC has the V6, Thank you bud
you are welcome. Glad it helped. Good luck on your heater.
Thanks for the step by step the know where the screws are located in not needed to take the bottom half off I just need the top off it's an 2004 single cab silverado the top dash is like breaking in long strip pieces I'm hoping to find a welding kit like the urethane plastic bumpers kits do they have kits on the market I mean I like doing projects like that but I'm 55 years old so a project like that would help me keep focuse mind wise maybe I can do it as a hobby to help young genaeration who's on a tight budget like me being retired due to heath issues while just living on a retirement check of like less than 800 a month doesn't go far at all that's why I'm asking is there a reasonable price repair kit
You are correct that plastic repair would be a need in this situation and it would be a cheap fix for the dash cap. Plastic welding kits are made and available. The challenge here is that there are a lot of different plastics and I am not sure what the dash cap is made of. If you got that information then you could get the correct plastic weld kit and repair caps. Great idea! Thanks for the comment. plasticoceans.org/7-types-of-plastic/

I dropped some micro SD cards on accident inside the defroster vent by the windshield.
Do I need to remove the entire thing to get them?
I guess it depends on how far they went into the vent. They may have wound up in the heater box. At that point, yes, you will have to remove the whole thing. I would try taking the dash top off and work down from there until you find it. Good luck.
@@FakeLegGreg ok thank you ill start from the top like you said first. i appreciate you for your help man!
Good video for disassembly....
Would this work on a 2008 silverado
My 2004 Suburban is very similar. It turns out you DON'T need to drill out those rivets under the glove box. Just remove the screws. The glove box and the panel will come out as a unit.
Thanks for the input Christopher. Good luck with your truck.
Hey buddy I really appreciate this video. I have everything done up to this point thanks to your video but was wondering do you have a video on the next part when you pulled your heater core box? I have the pleasure or trying to locate a rotten mouse that built a nest in there. Smells as bad as it gets. Thanks
Sorry to hear about your smell. this is the 3rd video of the 12 part series on taking this dash out. So, yes, keep watching and you will see the heater A/C box come out. Good luck.
Thank you soooo much for the help
Thanks for watching.

I don’t get it. I have a 99 GM 3500 and it’s NOT the same as all the videos. For example a dash grab handle is missing on mine.
My 2005 Avalanche is so brittle when you look at a break the dash material looks like glass not plastic.
Would be nice if you showed start to finish.
This video clearly says pt 3 on the title. You might try looking for the other parts to see start to finish.
@@FakeLegGreg Not what i seem my friend.
Thanks
Thanks for watching.
Looks like I don’t want to do this to my truck
Doing a restoration on mine and that bottom half of the dash is a royal pain had to buy a donor dash to replace mine from age and wear my tabs sheared off completely. Took the old one off to paint and bit me. Agreed why GM designed it this way is beyond me and the rivets are pointless. The glove box itself is worse its has 7 or so perimeter rivets good luck trying to replace the latch. Why they didnt make it all bolt on.
Yep I have done several heater cores in my time. I have also done many restorations as well. This is the most difficult dash/heater core mess I have worked on. Good luck on yours.
I don't understand why people use gloves just get your hands dirty you can always wash them
I don't understand your fascination with other people's hands. Show us how it's done.
Mine came out in 800 pieces lmao
Old, brittle plastic. Unfortunately that happens.
@@FakeLegGreg yeah it is what it is I got a new dash, trim, and mirrors for 200 bucks from a friend and man the new dash is solid never seen sunlight because it had a cover on it.
