Looking forward to having a hit with the m4, have last year's m2 and absolutely love it, can see it being in the bag for the next couple of years unless I can see any significant change in my own numbers with another club. Cheers for the review Andy, great stuff
had driver fitting 2 weeks ago, hit now Ping G w/Tour Reg, 96-99mph. Pro had me try Ping 400 (not max), Rouge, and M4. M4 won but not enough for $425 cash, only saw 5-6 yards more than current G. I certainly didn't have your numbers yet our speed is similar, bag the M4 with those #s!
Hi Andy. I was recently fitted for the M4.(D-type, w/R stiff stammo ? Shaft) was also suggested I use the new calloway ball.(club head speed around 86-88). Your thoughts please. Thanks !
Hi Andy, good review but I'm a little confused by the 2 screen captures you put up. The screen showing swing speed, carry showed a left/right dispersion averaging 16R but the following screen showing dispersion showed all the balls going left except for 1. Both directions were well outside the other 2 groups of balls hit. Sorry, maybe I missed something there. Really like the vids, keep it up.
Yeah I confused things with the end screen! The blue dots are the M4 shots which are all landed right of centre with a right to left shape. The other dots refer to other Drivers I tested on the day and will be explained in another video, sorry for the confusion. Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for clarifying the dispersion Andy, I was a little confused by that screen capture as well Phil Ovenell. Your usual driver Ball flight is right/left with you finishing left, as these drives were right does that mean that you were hitting a baby fade? if so do you think that the M4 has a Fade bias? Ps Great review as ever Pal
Wow! Amazing numbers, especially as according to a recent premium ball test in TG (issue 391) using a Trackman and PXG swing robot, the optimum distance achieved with a 100mph swing speed was 249 yds (TP5x) with a ball speed, launch angle and spin rate 144.7/14.2/2.336. According to my calculations your average of 96.6 even using a TP5x, which I doubt you did, should provide a maximum carry of 241.5 yds with optimum launch and spin rate. Not suggesting for one minute you are 'cooking the books', but would be interested to learn why the anomaly?
Yes Fujikura Atmos Stiff, which I liked very much, not used before and I border between reg/stiff and this worked really well and I felt very comfortable with it. It was red which is mid/high launch
And yes we would like to see the ball flight considering how that’s all this technology is about.., if you can’t show the ball flight how can you show if it really helps or not...
I am generally cr@p at golf, but I played in a tournament and won one of these. OMG its like a million times better than my old driver (a Mizuno thing). I just hit about 100 shots on the range and 85 went straight and 95 went over 230 yards and as I said I am cr@p and a very definite 28 handicapper! Maybe that will change! But amazing club!
Teeuplo feat. Average Golfer oh i see mate i thought the reviews where great seeing tge flight as its a true reflection on how an tge tagers hit thd ball mate not like tge pros reviewing but vlogs still awesome
Teeuplo feat. Average Golfer I’m shire you will mate keep up the great content very valuable to me you going to test mizuno st 180 range and get out on course with Liam great vlogs mate
Steve B tbf My own performance was as good as I can hit a ball and you will see in next weeks head to head (recorded same day) I got improved numbers out of the G 400 Max, it’s an interesting vid!
I picked one up mid season last year. Have never hit the ball so well but to be fair that was the first time I bought a high end driver. Not only do I hit it further but much straighter and consistent.
Your efficiencies make the club illegal. Cant be above 1.5 and yours clealy is. At 97.7, the max you should get, and rarely if ever will, is 146.6. Yours was 148.2. Can you explain this please.
Love how you were nearly laughing when you talked about hammerhead Andy. Guess the m4 has a deeper face than last years m2 which for someone like me who tends to get a bit downward on strike is a plus. Have to echo your thoughts on m2 v m1, I have m2 2016 model and tried the equivalent m1 and the m1 just didn't do it for me felt a bit dead in comparison and wasn't as accurate or long.
It is on normal settings and you are right the smash factor is incredibly high, there are many factors as to why this is being achieved but ultimately it is generating a high ball speed in relation to club head speed, but there are other factors.
Teeuplo feat. Average Golfer Top bombing! ! I'm just sceptical when videos are relating to Taylormade. Must say tho, I love the videos in general (espec the series in Spain). Keep them coming, cheers.
I am also conscious of this figure and have discussed a lot in the past 48 hours with the experts at Foregolf. Its about efficiency of strike and clearly doesnt make me a better golfer all of a sudden, although I will say this day was the best I have hit driver on any videos I have done! Glad you are enjoying the content.
No max to smash factor, check out this link to the PGA stats for the weekend, several players above 1.5, highest was Justin Thomas 1.523 www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.02403.2017.html
Thanks for the video, so you’re saying the new M4 was carrying 247 for 272 total, and your last years M2 video your carry was 223, for a total of 247? So you’re carrying the M4 the same distance as your last year’s M2 total numbers, WOW! Tell us, have you signed with Taylormade? :) A 25 yard carry improvement is pretty good --
Haha, I have just taken a look at my numbers when I did the custom fit video in November, my M2 numbers on that day on Trackman was 230 carry 255 total which I would say is about right, the Epic numbers were 240 carry 270 total, I think to be fair to the M2 and the Epic I have never hit the ball as well as this on a video, but in essence the Epic/M4 numbers are very similar. But from your original point I would think the M4 would outperform the M2 on any given day, maybe a updated head to head as I still have the old M2?
Yes, I would do a head to head as soon as you can. That I think would quale all the folks that follow you have that little bit of doubt in their minds looking at the numbers. It’s hard to believe this driver is out performing the Epic with you swing speed. When you do the M2/M4 comparison, perhaps you can show the ball flight on Trackman of at least one or two balls with each driver, not every shot. Then your followers can see legitimately you’re getting these numbers. Look forward to watching it!
Hi up Andy great review as always pal,you may have the same head has Mark crossfield but that’s where the similarities stop, always trust your honesty & approach to us average golfers,ho any your testing a taylormade product 😂
"Bull bunk", Taylor Made!!.....Just give me a shorter length Driver with a standard face, and some Impact Tape, and I'll do the rest.... I don't need clubs that manipulate, much like your marketing team.....
I agree with you! I shortened my driver shaft length, used some impact tape on the face, then made adjustments to my set up Voila! much better contact... I do think that Companies need to continue to make technological upgrades, but Twist face isn't for me.
sorry but really finding it hard to be leave these vlogs now nearly every over pro testing these drivers all say twist face dont work and yet every driver you now seem to hit have very little despersion on them yet everyone else finding it hard to keep straight
A point that I made was how well I hit the driver, with that in mind I would suggest I struck the ball from the middle of the club, is Twist face not all about 'off centre' strikes? So in other words it had no impact on the shots?
going by your previous tests i would love to know how the hell you have gone form and average dispersion of roughly 35 left/right to all of a sudden being able to have a dispersion on less than 15 with nearly every driver your testing even tour pros would love that sort of stat

At the end of the video I show a visual of dipsersion with 3 different clubs hit on the same day, where is the less than 15yds dispersion??? What are you watching?? I hit a group of 5 good shots with the M4 the rest are spread all over???
After years of creating absurdly over- lengthened Drivers, Taylor Made has finally figured out that the average golfer can't hit the sweet spot consistanly......Freakin Geniuses!!! ...lol
Looking forward to having a hit with the m4, have last year's m2 and absolutely love it, can see it being in the bag for the next couple of years unless I can see any significant change in my own numbers with another club. Cheers for the review Andy, great stuff

Great test and fantastic numbers! Yes, it would be nice to have proof of Twist Face's benefit.
You should state the shaft flex and model on any tests......
Hi Andy. I was recently fitted for the M4.(D-type, w/R stiff stammo ? Shaft) was also suggested I use the new calloway ball.(club head speed around 86-88). Your thoughts please. Thanks !
So I dont know if that helped? but I guess I thought there was a big break through with the new twist face... not what i was expecting thank you.
Hi Andy, good review but I'm a little confused by the 2 screen captures you put up. i just got the M3 driver, hit it off the toe and went 280 total still...

Hi Andy. Great review as usual. Could you tell us which shaft you used and your thoughts on it. Cheers
Yes Fujikura Atmos Stiff, which I liked very much, not used before and I border between reg/stiff and this worked really well and I felt very comfortable with it. It was red which is mid/high launch
What shaft and flex did you use, thanks
And yes we would like to see the ball flight considering how that’s all this technology is about.., if you can’t show the ball flight how can you show if it really helps or not...
Great review as always but miss the ballflight visuals.
Yes agreed I am trying to sort

I like to enter your comp, maybe I will win
what balls did you use to do your testing, range balls?
Andy you not show the ball flights during your testing any more
Yeah I moved to Trackman asa more trusted source for data but cant get the ball flight visual, do you prefer to see the ball flight?
Teeuplo feat. Average Golfer oh i see mate i thought the reviews where great seeing tge flight as its a true reflection on how an tge tagers hit thd ball mate not like tge pros reviewing but vlogs still awesome
Yeah I tend to agree and do miss it as a visual, I will have to find a solution!
Teeuplo feat. Average Golfer I’m shire you will mate keep up the great content very valuable to me you going to test mizuno st 180 range and get out on course with Liam great vlogs mate
Valparaiso 2018
Hi Andy, what shaft was in the M4 driver? #Tagers
Hi Andy , 17 yards on the Ping g400 max !!!!
Steve B tbf My own performance was as good as I can hit a ball and you will see in next weeks head to head (recorded same day) I got improved numbers out of the G 400 Max, it’s an interesting vid!
Another honest and great review keep up the good work⛳️🤪
Thank you Barry
Can't you just use your old gear for the view of your ball flight and trackman for your data? Just a suggestion.
I am looking for a solution and will work something out
Swing speed up, ball speed up, carry distance up, dispersion way down. Andy it is time to ditch the old M2 and stick that M4 in your bag
great video, just got an m4 Type and its a beaut, havent hit so well..... ever to be honest
I picked one up mid season last year. Have never hit the ball so well but to be fair that was the first time I bought a high end driver. Not only do I hit it further but much straighter and consistent.

Scott Stewart check the latest PGA Smash factor stats and you’ll find your information incorrect....

Whatever the Hammerhead does...it worked well today!
Are these hit on normal settings on the trackman? An average smash factor of 1.53 is unreal, most pro's are happy with high 1.4's.
It is on normal settings and you are right the smash factor is incredibly high, there are many factors as to why this is being achieved but ultimately it is generating a high ball speed in relation to club head speed, but there are other factors.

Teeuplo feat. Average Golfer all strange as the max smash factor is 1.50 unless it's screwed up with a fast heel strike.
No max to smash factor, check out this link to the PGA stats for the weekend, several players above 1.5, highest was Justin Thomas 1.523 www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.02403.2017.html
Where can I get an Average Golfer Hat? Thanks
Steve Moore they will be for sale next week Steve on a website, will do a video to give all details chhees
You need me testing this driver sweet spot middle what's that and where is it ?? Good info and chat 👍
haha, I did manage to find it today!

a good day!
The M4 sucks in my opinion I've hit it I have the 2017 M1 and like it much better twist face my face really twisted hahaha no pun intended
Let's see a M4 vs F8+ vs Rogue head to head.
Not tried the F8 yet, should do it next week
sorry but really finding it hard to be leave these vlogs now nearly every over pro testing these drivers all say twist face dont work and yet every driver you now seem to hit have very little despersion on them yet everyone else finding it hard to keep straight
carlasumm Funny how cobra has had ‘twist face’ for a while yet rick Shiels never noticed it
Are the affects or lack there of all in his head?
A point that I made was how well I hit the driver, with that in mind I would suggest I struck the ball from the middle of the club, is Twist face not all about 'off centre' strikes? So in other words it had no impact on the shots?

Johnny Apple Seed right that’s why cobra started making there’s shorter and people actually gained accuracy and yardage
