- Ghana or Germany: Who makes the better food? How about classical clichés on Germany? What's it like to swap shito for sauerkraut and sunshine for snow? What are the differences between Ghana and Germany? Rachel Stewart welcomes her first guest to the Meet the Germans hotseat: Eddy Micah Jr. from Ghana. What do you think about Ghana or Germany? What country shall we do next? Write us in the comments...
Rachel is on a mission to investigate the quirks and idiosyncrasies of daily life in Germany. Every two weeks she explores a new topic - from beer to nudity to complicated grammar - and heads out to get some tips from the Germans themselves.
Rachel moved from the UK to Germany in 2016. As a relative newcomer she casts a fresh eye over German clichés and shares her experiences of settling into German life.

I think you have to be very fluent in German to understand German humor, because it tends to be low key and clever. I think Germans can be very funny, just not on TV.
We, Romanians, are more German than French even though we borrowed a lot of vocabulary from French and I can tell you that we've similar humour like the Germans.
I love Rachel's energy on this show and they always come up with better ideas in every video. Keep going!
Ok turkish döner
But she`s always speak ABOUT Germans in her videos, not WITH them.
@@aseriesoftriangleswecalltr6065 thats not true
Ein Deutscher hätte die 3 Bier in der Zeit gleich noch getrunken.

Germans...
have no sense of humor.
*Gives 5 Stars*
ME: "Thats not funny!"
yeah, you might have guessed I am a german.
.. he backtracked...a bit later .. and said very different sense of humour... It is normal it takes time to understand the sense of humour of a different culture and african culture is wayyy different.. If any consolation:: as foreigner ( had lived in germany for 2 years , 25 years ago) I think Germans have a good sense of humour ..
I am only speaking with humour, really really often, and im borned in germany,my family has no humour, which is annoying
Noch so ein Spruch Kieferbruch😉🤣🤣 Wir könne Humor😅
There was an eye-opening video (for me at least) about japanese humor, as it seems childish and overly reliant on slapstick and puns (to most westeners), if you watch their most popular comedic duos. At the same time, when you meet people from Japan, it can be tough to find something to laugh about together. (I lived in Japan for a year and with some people it was a real Problem) But in reality, there's a lot of nuance and subtelty, that westeners just miss, because they lack the cultural background. Their humor is not inferior, it's jsut different.
As a German, I do feel like our own comedians are vastly inferior to, say US comedians, to the point that I have no interest in watching german comedians. So most german humor, as is found on German TV, really is not for me. But not all germans are the same (like everywhere else, obviously) so I do feel Germans can have an awesome sense of humor, but you gotta find the right people.
I also LOVE the Southpark Scene where the German Delegation tells jokes to proof that Germans are funny. I enjoy, how it makes some of my fellow Germans super angry. :D
🤣🤣❤
This guy is interesting.
Ach so!
I can relate with this word
The German humour can be subtle and if you are in tune with it you can enjoy it very much
Unless it's Thursday 14:30-14:45 o'clock when only growling is permitted by law.
great idea and very funny! please keep them coming, more of this stuff like this!
Eddy is a real charmer. I spent years in West Africa and love the energetic and spontaneous nature of most of the people there. Eddy, you dey sabi blow guy!!!
Nice show!! Eddy encapsulated the Ghanaian character. Way to go Eddy, we are proud of you!!
This reminds me of Robert and old colleague and friend from Ghana who lived most of his life in Germany, married to a german woman. He past away in 2017 and he was the greatest guy. He helped me a lot when I when to Germany for 3 months for work. I miss him 😔
I'm so sorry
This is a fun show to watch.
I love how she can pronounce Accra correctly 😍😍
I love this episode!!
A very warm comparison for individuals, to rate their different aspects of life from different countries to Germany.
This dude has the best personality! Bring him back for future episodes! 👍
This guy was a radio presenter in Ghana. He presented the sports segment on Y FM
Am East African-Tanzanian 🇹🇿 to be exact and am with my African brother right there!!!
I think Africa got some great Food, weather and Music, you will see the big difference of these things if u ever visit the two places!
For example, i never saw snow in my life until I made it to Europe 😅
I never knew how much I missed
Ugali(as we call in East Africa) or
Fufu(as they call in West Africa) until when I was in Dubai!
After all I think it’s all about what you are used to as grow up, coz a person raised Europe will have vice versa of my thinking!
So, it’s all about That😇
Hi I found this to be so cool. YOu need to interview someone from the Caribbean and their perspective

Cool game, the guy is really humorous. Rachel never disappoint
Why does he get subtitled like the rest of others can't here him speak. Yet we have to code switch hearing from the lady without subtitled...

What an interesting and funny episode! Please make more hot seat videos! I was really impressed by the cool games 😄 What a nice and interesting personality!
Nice show
We want second season
Brilliant! I am really getting a sense of the Germans from this series, especially the older more traditional ones.
That has been 2 years ago, are there any new editions of this format? I like it.
Wow this man is so fun
I am from SierraLeone and been living in Germany for long now, the guy is absolutely right about everything and I love his energy 👍🏽👍🏽
He is a coooooooool dude! Rachel is great too.

Bro, what kind of teeth do you have!?
I believe if I do that my teeth would fell off.
🙀👌😃
The first time I saw you on DW I told my brother that you are a Ghanaian and I was right. 👍
Eddie was a sport journalist for e-TV Ghana. Eddie Micah Junior.
Aha! I said it. That I know that face and name..lol
Indeed...i thought he looked familiar
The German volunteers that do come to Ghana are super friendly, they socialise and enjoy our food and some even try to speak our local language... In addition, a alot of German women are happily married to their Ghanaian men. 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭
Ghana is one of the nicer states in Africa
At 3:30. He said something very profound about organisation. Being overly organized causes you to become disorganized, as things jam up he says.
That's very true in my own life. I'm an organised person, but only if I don't try to be TOO organized. When I do that then organisation disintegrates.
Rachel is the coolest presenter!
Hi Rachel !
I came up with this theory, after having lived in Germany for some time in different occasions (Munich and Potsdam). The reason they have a problem with a sense of humour is because, very often, they take themselves too seriously, with the 'righteousness cape' on..if you know what I mean. It''s not a critique, just something I've noticed. But love their eco sense, and attitude to fairness, among other things. Cultured people.
I liked it even before I began watching🇬🇭
My favourite is "Rindfleischettikettierungsüberwachungsaufgebenübertragungsgesetz.
What a nice and cool guy.
@Mikkyi Mars thank you for your nice comment. I was mistaken for a Indian before hehe im actually Brazilian, being a mixture of African(not sure where) , Portuguese and Brazilian native 😊😊
Do Lebanon Next
Somehow I have an issue with the yellow stars ⭐️.
nice
I really like the content of the video, but the cutting is just to much for me ...
Macht mal eine Folge mit Connor Sullivan.
Er hat auch einen RUclips Kanal.
Würde mich freuen, echt cooles Format.
I love meet the Germans whit Rachel ✌️
I'd like to see Rachel opening the beer bottles with a lighter :D
I would also love to participate. I come from Uganda.
music? excuse me.
Rachel is absolutely lovely!
I'm impressed he did it with his teeth!
By the way: it is not enough to just open the bottle with a ligther - if you wanna do it right, it need to make a loud "plöp" sound! Oh, and the next stage would be to open the bottle on an "Bierkasten". It actually quite easy. But if you do it wrong, it hurts a lot. ;-)
Ach so! Mine is "choose" could be wrong spelling.
I’m a Ghanaian in Berlin 🔥
Seems like a guy I would enjoy drinking a beer with. And do you have more than five stars for that? ⭐️
5:40, please don't do this!
I want a friend like rachel
I also love the German sense of punctuality
I actually didn't know that opening bottles with a lighter was a German thing. But I also had no idea what I could be proud of from my origin.... now I know. ;)
Autobahn? - Fast
Berlin? - Gross
agreed
Rachel, Queen Elizabeth II wants you at her Buckingham Palace office next monday at 8:45 sharp. Her Majesty would like you to explain to Her the reason why you have let your staff to print the word "humor" with that spelling. (3:10)
My favorite Ghana food is jollof and banku
I am from the Commonwealth of Dominica not the Dominican Republic, but I live in Germany with my wife who is German, she is an angel, I am a professional artist painter and musician in Berlin, we are moving to Ghana and has just bought our home where I will be working with two other artist. Germans really have no sense of humor😂😂😂😂😂👍🏿,I speak the language at B1 level I cannot go further it is too complicated, the weather is a killer here but germans are much nicer people than the British
In Germany, opening a Beer with his teeth is considered more cool than with a lighter. So,you are totally integrated in our culture.Test passed. Welcome to Germany!!!
I love this. How do I get on?
Thanks Mercy!
Be an African pretending to be European, then get some leftwing brainwashed white woman and some rich jews to sort it out.
@@normiehuwyteman9487 Hahahahaha man you really cracked me up...btw I'm a Ghanaian living in Ghana. Lol
4:31 😐
He doesnt speak the language properly but gives their sense of humor 5 stars like how ?
I agree with Eddy on just about everything! I am a Deutschbrasilianer, and I was always considered German when I lived in Brazil, even because I am from a German family and have a completely German name. When I came to live in Germany I discovered that everyone considers me Brazilian :))) At first I thought ... oops, I'm always in the wrong place. Over time I discovered that I am both. I'm a Deutschbrasilianer! In football my color is yellow !! And please don't remind me about the 7x1 !!! :)) In the first half I was in yellow, in the second half I switched to white. :))) I love your videos Rachel! They are very creative and fun! I love your presentation and the edition! Congratulations!
TITAOSTEIN Lol
Hä der ist ja schon wie nen dorfkind. Bierflasch mit dne zähnen. Einfach lit
I’m waiting for Germany vs México
no,no,no don't you ever open it with your teeths!
🙂 Yes I can Totally Related all that Except Weather
It's actually great have four Seasons not Too Hot
And also Snowfall
"Germans are Brutal Honest " 💯% Accurate 🙂 💔
Nice try censoring the beer brand when there is "Veltins" engraved in the bottleneck
And even without, if you ever seen a Veltins bottle...
Gh
Eddy be careful. I once needed a dentist after using my teeth as a bottle opener..
:)
@Man Ofthematch 🤔 So, could the dentist open it in the end? 😉
That’s cool. 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭
I like it .. I like Germans too..
Rachel, I adore you and if I lived in the land of my father, I would want to be your neighbor.
Tf did he just open the beer with his teeth? That’s a joke right! 🤨🤔
