I honestly really love how Amanda's voice sounds as Cosette. I also found Marius and Cosette as a great couple. She didn't steal Marius away since neither of them knew about Eponine's crush.

Cosette never knew about Eponine's infatuation for him, so she never really intended to steal Marius away. o; I'm sure that if Cosette knew about Eponine's feelings for Marius, she would've backed off or something. :P So people calling Cosette a bitch for "stealing Marius" makes no sense at all. LOL

    • @azrailyne
      @azrailyne 10 лет назад +62

Yes exactly! Eponine never voiced her feelings and Marius nor Cosette knew. When Marius found out as Eponine was dying, you could just see how distraught he was.

    • @dayrasanchez1594
      @dayrasanchez1594 10 лет назад +40

And anyway, Eponine and Cosette hadn't talked to each other for years.

    • @azrailyne
      @azrailyne 10 лет назад +5

Why wouldn't they have worked out? They were best friends. If Marius actually did have an interest in Eponine, I can't see why it wouldn't have worked out. And not only were they best friends, but Marius and Cosette pretty much got married after they saw each other through a gate once. They were merely attracted to each other.

    • @dmbbtch635
      @dmbbtch635 10 лет назад +6

Think of this, the movie wouldn't be this good if Marius and eponine were together,it would be too simple and easy to do, they had to have a long sad and hard to happen romance between cossete and Marius so they would never see each other but be in love, so it's more sad and they can sing more songs about how much Marius loves cossete. It would be much more sad/romantic like that. And agreed, Eddie and Amanda have good chemistry :D

It's surreal seeing this performance coming from the actress that played the role she did in Mean Girls. It's great to see that she was able to break away from the image she had when she was young and to be taken seriously. Not all young actors are able to do that.

    COSETTE
    How strange
This feeling that my life's begun at last
    This change,
Can people really fall in love so fast?
What's the matter with you, Cosette?
Have you been too much on your own?
    So many things unclear
    So many things unknown.
    In my life
There are so many questions and answers
    That somehow seem wrong
    In my life
There are times when I catch in the silence
The sigh of a faraway song
    And it sings
Of a world that I long to see
Out of reach Just a whisper away
    Waiting for me.
    Does he know I'm alive?
Do I know if he's real?
Does he see what I see?
Does he feel what I feel?
    In my life
    I'm no longer alone
Now the love in my life
    Is so near
Find me now, find me here!
    VALJEAN
    Dear Cosette,
    You're such a lonely child
How pensive, how sad you seem to be
Believe me, were it within my power
    I'd fill each passing hour
How quiet it must be, I can see
    With only me for company.
    COSETTE
    There's so little I know
    That I'm longing to know
Of the man that you were
    In a time long ago...
    There's so little you say
Of the life you have known
    Why you keep to yourself
    Why we're always alone
So dark! So dark and deep...
    The secrets that you keep!
    In my life
    Please forgive what I say
You are loving and gentle and good
    But Papa, dear Papa,
In your eyes I am still like a child
Who is lost in a wood
    VALJEAN
    No more words
No more words. It's a time that is dead
    There are words
    That are better unheard,
    Better unsaid.
    COSETTE
    In my life
I'm no longer a child and I yearn
For the truth that you know
    Of the years... years ago!
    VALJEAN
    You will learn
    Truth is given by God
To us all in our time
    In our turn
(Valjean leaves the garden. Marius and Eponine arrive outside)
    MARIUS
    In my life
She has burst like the music of angels
    The light of the sun
And my life seems to stop
    As if something is over
    And something has scarcely begun.
    Eponine
You're the friend who has brought me here
Thanks to you I am one with the gods And Heaven is near!
And I soar through a world that is new that is free
    EPONINE(to herself)
Every word that he says is a dagger in me!
    In my life
There's been no one like him anywhere
    Anywhere, where he is...
If he asked... I'd be his
    MARIUS & EPONINE
    In my life
There is someone who touches my life
    MARIUS
    Waiting near
    EPONINE
    Waiting here
    A Heart Full of Love
(Marius goes into the garden, leaving Eponine outside the gate)
    MARIUS
    A heart full of love
    A heart full of song
    I'm doing everything all wrong
    Oh God, for shame
I do not even know your name
    Dear Mademoiselle
    Won't you say?
    Will you tell?
    COSETTE
    A heart full of love
    No fear, no regret
    M,ARIUS
    My name is Marius Pontmercy
    COSETTE
    And mine's Cosette
    MARIUS
Cosette, I don't know what to say
    COSETTE
    Then make no sound
    MARIUS
    I am lost
    COSETTE
    I am found!
    MARIUS
    A heart full of love
Eponine: He was never mine to lose
    COSETTE
    A heart full of you
Eponine: Why regret what cannot be
    MARIUS
A single look and then I knew
    COSETTE
    I knew it too
Eponine: These are words he'll never say.
    Not to me
    MARIUS
    From today
Eponine: Not me, not for me
    COSETTE
    Every day
    COSETTE & MARIUS
    For it isn't a dream
    Not a dream after all.
    Eponine (with Cosette and Marius):
    His heart full of love.
He will never, feel this way.

      Father: sell those candlesticks please
Cosette's mother: but your daughter needs them
      Father: Colette doesn't need it.
      Cosette's mother: Cosette
Father: yes, that's what I said, Cotelette
Cosette: when are we gonna eat that cotelette?
      Cosette's mother: Cosette
Father: go to your room, candlesticks.
Cosette's mother: so do we sell the candlesticks?
Father: no, we do not sell my daughter.

I feel like part of the point was for it all to be imperfect. That's why the actually film them singing instead of prerecording it. They wanted it raw and go with the dark broken theme of the film. Obviously the on stage performances are better because stage theater is in my opinion the greatest form of arm. Everyone's giving their all because there are no second takes. But all and all I really do love the movie!

No, trust me, my brother is an opera major, his instructors and teachers refers to les miserables as an opera, wanna know why, the 'lines' that are spoken in the movie are written in the score to be sang. So there are no written in spoken parts on the score,
      thus it's an opera.
As a musical would imply written lines, there is no word of the les mis broadway score that is spoken.

Amanda Seyfried is a revelation - absolutely phantastic, thinking, feeling every word, every note, every sound - and with a voice of such individuality and beauty that her Cosette promotes to the main character of the movie.

I really love how everyone's voice in the movie is so brittle and raw. It give the music such a haunting unrehearsed, spontaneity so as to fully exploit the beautiful emotion created by Claude-Michel Schönberg's music and Hugo's characters.

Amanda's voice sound so beautifully fairy tale. She sounds like a princess in a fairy tale movie. Her voice is so beautiful. And Eddie's voice fits his part so perfectly, he is fantastic. And Samantha's voice just blows me away, with everything she sings, because it's so beautiful. This is definitely one of my favorite movies. It's all so tragic and sad and beautiful.
