I love your Idea using a Log splitter, who would have thought of that. I love the fact that i am a 50 yr tool maker and i still learn new ways to use my equipment...wow...
I have several cranks im gonna do your video really helped although i am gonna build a fixture to press and line it all up but i had no Idea how it came apart thanks. I love free advice....
Unless you need a log splitter for splitting wood, you are WAY better off using a regular press. I didn't watch the whole video, so I don't know what he said about the splitter, but a log splitter has WAY more flex than even a crappy press. This job is way quicker, easier and safer using a basic shop press.
Awesome video! Would it be possible to post a video of how you assemble the center section, press the center taper and align it exactly 180 +- .001? Thank you for your knowledge… Adrian
I've got a 951 that drowned... never been in a rotax before so it will be my first. I have another 951 I need to replace the inner crankshaft seals on. Was hoping you would point those out.... but I do definitely appreciate the video! I have never pulled a crankshaft apart but I've got a 30 ton hydraulic press and Harbor Freight is not too far away!!!
Thank- you for the great video ! I was curious if you have ever used dry ice to shrink things for easier dissasembly I have a smaller press & thinking getting things cold could help make things a little less difficult to get apart & back together
Keep in mind that it only works when the two parts are separated so you can cool the one and heat the other. If the parts are assembled they both shrink together.
Any videos on assembly of counter weights and if run out is off the actual tweaking to get it within specs? Also how to press outside bearings on without knocking crank out of phase?
Great video! Can you tell me what part number seals go in the middle section on either side of the balancer gear. Sea-doo doesn't list them on their parts diagram. They want me to buy the whole assembly.
I order these from ebay they have been good quality. Search for seadoo 951 crankshaft seals. I can send you the ad. Let me know if you need help with crank rebuild. Thanks
I have a 2 cylinder 400cc bike, and the the rocker arm is stacked up, I am considering a Crankshaft rebuild because I cant afford new one at the moment. My question is, What is the cons of repaired crankshaft?

Well done and very clever using the log splitter, THANK YOU this is very helpful.

Told me everything I need to know. Now off to find a powerful press or log splitter. Thanks for posting this video.

Great video. I opened up an old waverunner 500 today and the bearings are are all rusted. I have a wood splitter so I just might give it a try.
Be careful they can be tricky and things can fly. I made some fixtures to hold things better and now use a shop press.
Also the black ideas sounds awesome

Do the inspection and adjustment of runout with the outer bearings installed as in this video.

THANK YOU!
Hi! Do I need to lubricate the main bearings during assembly?

Do you work on other peoples crankshaft?
Hi, yes I rebuild the cranks and other repairs on seadoo. Text me 412-849-6190.
