    Been watching you for year’s fluke master. I remember watching you when I was a kid when I 1st started fishing. You helped me catch tons of fish. I’m happy 8 years later I was able to find you and sub again.

    It’s hot here in NC as well, the fish in the ponds I target are in the deep pads in bluegill beds. We appreciate the content! Fish on!

    nice vid, Gene! Totally agree with you on a medium rod for drop shotting weedless. I have a ML that I use for vertical, but when I’m casting and using a weedless presentation, you definitely need a medium rod to set that hook at times. Go Dawgs!

    Dobyns "Fury" makes a 6'8 heavy. I love it. I watched a video of yours last year about a short Frog rod and you are right VERY HARD to find. Highly suggest it.

    If I could fish one bait for the rest of my life it would be a wobblehead. It doesn’t snag and it catches everything. I use the gene larew wobblehead because they have a wide range of sizes as well as quality hooks. I also use a mustad wobblehead. Best part of a wobblehead is there really isn’t a wrong way to fish it. Just throw it. I’ll use pretty much any bait on them. Everything from a creature,worm,lizard,or even a tube. I just can’t get enough of it!

    Sorry if you've mentioned it before but many people usually recommend 3-4 at most 5 ft for a leader....you use 14-15 ft??? Why? would you explain that a little bit please, thank you in advance man. This video was well put together and educational even for an experienced angler

    Any tips for fishing Stone Mountain Lake in late August? I'm from Buffalo and have an opportunity to fish that lake next weekend for half a day. I'd appreciate the tips...planning on skirted jigs, large soft plastics and maybe some topwater.

    I have never understood the need for a super high speed retrieve reel! I've always found it easier to speed up with a slower retrieve reel than to sloww down enough for most baits with a real fast reel! Most of my reels are still in the 5.3 : 1 to 5.6 : 1 range.

    • @Flukemaster
      @Flukemaster  Год назад

      I look at it this way. For me it's not about retrieval speed because I can slow down if I need to. It's about energy conservation and numbers of casts in a day. It takes less energy to slow down than to speed up. That makes a huge difference when grinding all day long. Then if I can get the bait back to me faster after it's out of the strike zone I can make more casts during a day. More casts means more opportunities to put the bait in front of fish

    Happy Independence Day folks! I took this whole week off work to do some house work around the house, and so far I've basically got absolutely nothing done. The only things that I accomplished so far since Friday is I fished Saturday, yesterday I washed the boat after church, napped for a couple hours, today I spooled up a new rod that has just been in a box in my garage that I'm taking out tomorrow to the lake when we go. Oh and I re organized the boat. My goal is to finish my guest room, re paint my bathroom, re finish the shelves in my bathroom because I am getting a new washer and dryer to put in the closet, put a new ceiling fan in the master bedroom, and put a new light fixture in my upstairs bathroom. So with that big long chore list, I'm currently having a beer listening to the video and grilling burgers lol. Tomorrow I'm fishing a local lake that is doing a Wounded Warriors charity event, then meeting up with the rest of the family for a BBQ and fireworks. Wednesday I'm hoping to get out in the morning and fish before I do some house work.

    I’m pretty hooked on fishing a jig right now and I don’t want to tie on anything else if I don’t have to.
    I know you’ve covered jigs in other videos but could you do a video on what jig I should use based off what you were fishing if I was a co-angler fishing out of the back of your boat?
    For example if you’re fishing a moving bait should I use a bottom contact jig?
    Or if you’re using a bottom contact bait should I use a swim jig or chatterbait?
    I’m assuming it’s all going to depend on what the fish want that day but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts if I said, “Jigs only.”😂
    Be blessed

    @flukemaster is frog fishing worth it in the afternoon? I never really go fishing in the mornings or after sunset since the parks I fish are closed but I normally go around 3 pm to 7 pm on my kayak or bank fishing is the frog even worth it during those times? Also I mostly go fish Tribble mill park if you ever been there
