  • Capt. Jack Sprengal gives us his review and rigging techniques for what he calls his life raft lure. By that he means the lure he wants with him no matter the situation. This lure is amazing right out of the box, but can also be adapted to multiple uses as show in this video. Whether you are casting, jigging, slow pitch jigging, or trolling, you need to have this lure.

    Love this guy. Specific and useful info delivered in a short concise manner. Good editing as well. Excellent vid. I am going to def rig up some of my Snipers with assist hooks and try them out vertically. Can’t beat having 2-for-1 lures

    Excellent videos I’m really learning a lot, I get a kick out of the fact that you’re doing them in an open shop😂

    Great video on an awesome lure. Can you also add the assist hooks and leave the treble hook on? Or would it effect the action of the jig in a negative way?

      I have not tested that setup, but I think it would effect the flutter patter of the lure with too much weight. If you try it let us know how it works!

    Another good video, your finger tattoo's I think will be tested here in the near future. Holdfast and have a great day.

      Depends if you are jigging them or casting them. Something like the Talavera Slow J is great for jigging light items: saltwateredge.com/products/shimano-talavera-slow-j-casting?variant=42038409232641&All%20Products%202&Shimano%20Talavera%20Slow%20J%20Casting%20Rods&gclid=CjwKCAjw3qGYBhBSEiwAcnTRLjUW5cw_ow3ZyAbXJt_59ZW9jqvcaNsbzG5Q_ran-Z_t8V7La7lnjBoC-tkQAvD_BwE.
      A good reel on this would be a Daiwa Saltist 20 or a Quantum Accurist.
      For casting any light rod would work well. I have been casting these with the Bull Bay Banshee and it has been working out great. I pair that with a Shimano Stradic 4000

    Can you explain how to choose the assist hooks to match the jig?

    • @SaltwaterEdge
      @SaltwaterEdge  Год назад

      Hi, the best way to do it is find the largest assist hook that wont tangle on the jig. You want to make sure the hook cant hook itself onto the jig

    What size Coltsniper jigs you recommend for jigging striped bass over a bridge in a fast-moving current in about 25-55 feet of water?

    • @SaltwaterEdge
      @SaltwaterEdge  Год назад

      For that application I would go with the 100-120 gram size.

      @@SaltwaterEdge Thanks! I am going to place an order tomorrow with Tackle Direct for three of those lures in the 100 size and two in the 80 size! I was going to buy the Coltsniper Splash Walkers and the Coltsniper Sinking Stickbaits only, but you convinced me to get the Coltsniper Jigs as well when I came across your video on RUclips. I wish Shimano would do what Rapala does -- make videos on RUclips to show the action of its lures in the water! I don't need people do too much talking to convince me to buy their products, I simply need to see their products in action! But all of your videos are fantastic at explaining the products! I guess it's because you are a fisherman just like us and you know what works and what doesn't! Thanks my friend for the uploads!

    What would be a rod and reel set up for this type of jig fishing?

    • @SaltwaterEdge
      @SaltwaterEdge  11 месяцев назад

      Ideally you would have a fairly light rod but it would need to have enough backbone to set the hook in deeper water. Something like a lighter Teramar XX or a Lamiglas Black would be a great rod for these jigs. For reels you are going to want a decent amount of line capacity but you dont want too heavy of a reel. A Shimano Stradic in a 4000 or 5000 would make a great spin jig reel on this.

      The Currentsniper is the new name for all the coltsniper products, same product line, just a name change
