    Just saw Tim, Scott and Steve at Vai Academy 7. They rocked it together!
    After getting to talk with Tim and Scott I feel people underestimate Scott lePage. He and Tim are musically joined at the hip

      Wow that must have been a blast. When polyphia gets around this area I want to check them out. Grabbsolutely right - Scott doesn't get his due. I'm guessing that it's just simply that Tim clicked with the press etc. More and more people are starting to get to know Scott - and he is laying down some damn cool solos. Thanks for that comment man!

    I am not familiar with his music. I thought I was going to watch a video about the creator of The Muppets.

      Hahaha I think Tim's name gets a lot of that. The first time I read his name I started hearing that part of the Muppets theme: "why do we always come here I guess we'll never know it's like some kind of torture to have to watch the show" bup bup bup bada da dup dup 😆

    What a story, dude has some serious guitar skills. I just watched him play a couple of his pieces, cause I was curious after this video. Woah, incredible technique, and so original. Awesome job with this one Jimmy. I really enjoyed it.

      Hey brother Happy New Year! It took me a while to get around to listening to Tim seriously, but after really checking out his body of work he's come a long way and a short amount of time. People dig him and it really makes sense as to why. He just brings such a fresh perspective to music. Stay cool and stay rocking brother

    Great stuff man, I made a documentary about Tim on my channel and decided to leave out some of these details in favor of highlighting Polyphia's journey from start until now. Always great to see the story told from a different angle. :)

      Thanks man! You really pulled in some views on that one, glad to see it! Thank you for pointing me there, I'll stick around to see what else you come up with. Thanks for popping over this way too - great to meet you!

    Great musicians, hands down. They've made quite an impact on the guitar world.

      They definitely are - I think a lot of people from the old school so to speak kind of have a hard time wrapping their minds around what they're doing. I'm not a young buck by any stretch, but after a little while of listening I was hooked.

    Tim Henson and Polyphia found their sound, which is extremely hard to do. When a track plays, you know it's polyphia. Hopefully they can continue the trajectory

      Right on! You said it really well, they even basically came up with their own genre. I have no doubt they'll be able to keep it up, and I'm really excited to see what they come up with next.

      Hey Steenbean! These guys are quite happening nowadays. I'd say they're like the modern equivalent of what Rush was when they came out in the '70s. Very interesting group and very interesting backstory. Great to see you Happy 2024 to you and the family!

    7:45 What?! ..."he saved DLR's solo career"???? There was a line AT LEAST about 2 miles long of world class guitarists wanting to play in David Lee Roth's band after 1984, what a stupid comment that Vai "saved" Diamond Dave's career - DLR was on top of the rock world and would have remained popular no matter what guitarist he picked. And YES, he chose wisely. You guys owe The Atomic Punk an apology!

    • @guitarmeetsscience
      @guitarmeetsscience  6 месяцев назад +2

      Easy brother easy 😆 hahaha..... Probably some clarification is needed... First off thank you for watching and catching that part. Yes DLR was at the very top of his game then. But you and me both have to admit he was virtually standing on shaky ground when it came to that EP he put out. California girls did well, and Just a Gigolo, But he was on the brink of being considered to do that kind of stuff forever and ever. The way I see it, Steve Vai Billy and Greg were the perfect combination of players to put the public on notice that Roth was about to redefine everything. So maybe I wasn't as clear as I should have been when I said what I said, but it was more like they galvanized his solo career. Nevertheless thanks for watching - and I love your reference too atomic punks, I just went to see "The atomic punks" Van Halen tribute a few nights back. They were awesome, and Frankie definitely nails EVH perfectly. Apology to the atomic punk 🙏🙏

    ive heard for 15 years now, that tosin abasis style ws going to take over and revolutionize, and it never has, its stayed in the tiniest genre of shredders who listen to speed not for music. tim is outstanding at what he does, but what he cant do is the part tht never gets brought up. all he can do is his one thing. thats it, ask him to jump into a country band, could he do it? nope. how about a classical jazz ensemble? nope. pop music? but percussion guitar, sure, remember when 7 8 9 10 string guitars were so the rage! now they dont sell in used music stores anymore because they are so last 5 years ago and boring.

    • @guidorussoheck2100
      @guidorussoheck2100 6 месяцев назад +4

      ABC is a pop song. The difference with abasi is that is too technical and has little to no melody in its playing. You can Hum a Polyphia song no problem, cause it has melody in it.

    • @srogers500
      @srogers500 6 месяцев назад +2

      Not every artist is out to start a revolution. They're just playing music the way the want.
      Some people like it, some don't, but I'm sure Tim and Tonis couldn't possibly care less about joining a country band or Jazz ensemble(Neither do I). But media hype is always going to surround anything new and different and claim it's the next big thing. Disco, that 80's Miami sound, grunge, and Dubstep were things, but they're gone as huge selling genres, but their influence has stayed and can still be heard in music being made today.
      There's a lot to be learned from these new guys and I've taken quite a bit of inspiration and ideas, but mainly as building on more classic rock and metal styles.

    • @uncledeadhead3674
      @uncledeadhead3674 6 месяцев назад +1

      thats fine , then lets stop acting like they are starting a resolution then? kay. its just shred and percussion itsnot even guitar, its why they showed when trying to take turns, they cant do it, because itsnot some structured themed percussive thing, they have no feel for play. @@srogers500 ever figure out why polyphia needs two top end lead guitarists?

    • @guitarmeetsscience
      @guitarmeetsscience  6 месяцев назад +1

      Got a good debate going on here - The revolutionizing part I don't think is ever on purpose. Obviously they've done something right if they've got us talking. Nevertheless you makes a great points man

    • @srogers500
      @srogers500 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@guitarmeetsscience Damn straight. These techniques are insane and their tone is crazy to me. I dig the energy of it all. Also, Polyphia's(which I assume is mostly Tim as the artistic director) use of melody is new and pretty exciting to me. Their use of what they are calling "hooks" is super interesting to me. These long "phrases" that repeat and you don't even realize you're in a hook until it repeats. It gives a real sense of the musical idea coming together around the listener.
