One of the most beautiful songs ever written..and no one can sing it better..the world lost a true legend and innovator. .he will forever be missed...RIP JACK
I'm late to the party. I've been making playlists to listen to while I'm on the treadmill at the gym. I started out with rock of the late sixties. Cream had to have been my favorite band. Now I am listening to them again and memories are flooding back as I binge out to their work. Jack was just brilliant, his base playing, his song writing, his unique voice that defined an era for me. I hadn't listened to his solo work much before now. What a multi-talented man. Rest In Peace.
Missing Jack Bruce so much, I was 11 when I first fell in love with Cream and Jack. Lucky to see him in Shepherds Bush with Robin Trower, a trio. Best gig for me! RIP Great Vocals and Bassist! The best.
One of the most sensitive of souls! We were blessed to experience his musical -lyrical genius! Thanks, Jack Bruce, for every thing and then some and your desire to give to us that magical feeling in your songs!
That's nice, Prodigal. Spot on as well. Are you a bassist? What he did for that voice is equally as powerful as his singing voice. Well, both were singing.
Coming up 5 years since we lost one of the classic songwriter/composers of modern music..bass,cello,guitar,piano and harmonica mastered with that unique voice. Play hard JB.
Thank you Jack , from 14 onwards to this present day I’ve never had a chance to say what a wonderful journey your music led me on . My travels continue my friend and they’ll only stop when I meet you ( hopefully ) . Thank you for the path .
God...we're so lucky someone recorded this timeless, intimate performance...like having him in the room singing his heart out on this lovely, idiosyncratic composition. If I wanted to show someone who'd never heard him before what Jack Bruce's music was about, this would be the song and performance I'd play.
Such a shame people just label him as only a bassist. One listen to his early solo material shows a genius that never got publicly appreciated like it should have
Jack Bruce. That voice, in Deserted Cities.... Passing the Time, ... the vibrato of the Rock Stars of England...Jack's upper lip always fascinated me...I'm a portrait artist. Back when everyone was making graffiti about " Clapton is God ", there was Jack, who I never paid good attention to until this century. But his indelible vibrato will forever define, 60s rock. It echos on forever ....
thank you Mr Bruce for such a beautiful song that ravishes my heart and soul 46 years after , you may have been a sufi bard in a previous life , no ? and thank you ark80 for that video :-)
On this the anniversary of your death....2021. It feels like yesterday we lost you Miss you Jack . like the song says, " I will love you forever". You gave wings to my young musical heart...i felt a whole new world opening up , no musician before or since has ever given wings to my spirit like you.
This is pure genius. I am reminded of his incredible talent as a composer and performer. What a fantastic forum to showcase his talent in. I sincerely hope that others (besides musicians) discover what a magnificent talent he was and learn a thing or two from him.
Cream owes its success to Jack Bruce, the true innovator and visionary of the group. Ginger Baker was a pretty special drummer but fairly limited in range. Eric Clapton was arguably at the very peak of his technical facility and his overwrought soloing was becoming insufferable. Jack Bruce was, to me, the musical figurehead of Cream.
@@artysanmobile Eric Clapton said Jack Bruce was the "musician" of the band who taught him the technique of singing with his diaphragm. The record label wanted Eric to front the band because he was Cream's guitarist, they also wanted him to sing. But Eric said Jack should be the band's frontman, they compromised by having them standing on either side of Ginger.
Last week I saw the Mentulls do an excellent cover of ‘Theme for an imaginary western’ and it encouraged me to go back and re-listen again to a lot of his solo material. I love Consult and Sunset and absolute must-listen. Folk Song IMO is beautifully stunning.
Jack's music is the closet to that of Beethoven, my childhood musical ideal. One ,or both ,may be on my lips & mind as I take my last view of this mortal coil.
From Wikipedia; Jack Bruce - vocals, basses, acoustic piano, organ, cellos, harmonica, production, arrangements Chris Spedding - guitars John Marshall - drums Andy Johns - engineer (track 13) Barry Ainsworth - engineer (all other selections)

Over 50 years and Harmony Row is still one of my all time favorite records of any genre. It's pretty much perfect.
One of the most sensitive of souls! We were blessed to experience his musical -lyrical genius! Thanks, Jack Bruce, for every thing and then some and your desire to give to us that magical feeling in your songs!
He didnt write the lyrics though. Pete Brown did.
That's nice, Prodigal.
Spot on as well.
Are you a bassist? What he did for that voice is equally as powerful as his singing voice.
Well, both were singing.
My Harmony Row LP disappeared during a short bout of homelessness in the early 80s. Still play it in my head.
A genius at work.....
Coming up 5 years since we lost one of the classic songwriter/composers of modern music..bass,cello,guitar,piano and harmonica mastered with that unique voice. Play hard JB.

One my favorite Bass player and everything else. RIP Jack Bruce
Multi talented. The Tony Palmer film about him "Rope Ladder to the Moon" shows this perfectly.

I'm also an artist. His lips fascinate me too, such a sensitive mouth.

He was blessed.
Amazing talent. Would have been no Cream without Jack.

jack was the catalyst ,without him, the force of nature they became when setting foot onstage , might've been delayed a century or three
Jack Bruce and Pete Brown, a magnificent team!!

Last week I saw the Mentulls do an excellent cover of ‘Theme for an imaginary western’ and it encouraged me to go back and re-listen again

Lyrics by Pete Brown of course. But what a voice Jack had.
Jack's music is the closet to that of Beethoven, my childhood musical ideal. One ,or both ,may be on my lips & mind as I take my last view of this mortal coil.
The lonelinesst song I have heard but be be brave enough enough to walk through it and isolation you'll be able to walk through without giving up
Harmony Row is his most haunting album.
This version is better than the album version
At 1:56 he really means it and really sings it.
ジャックと言えばウェスタンのテーマが有名だけど、こちらは隠れた名曲です❗️動画が有ったのには感激です。‼️
