  • Here's a step by step video of our complete septic system installation and cost in New Jersey. Luckily we were able to avoid installing an advanced treatment septic system and installed a relatively traditional system, other than the fact that we needed a septic tank, dosing tank, and pump. I hope you find this informative video helpful and enjoyable. Thank you for watching!

You got out of it cheap Ed! I paid $25K about 35 years ago when we built our house! Our soil is all clay under about 1.5 ft of top soil so they dug down about 6' until they hit the water table, had three large trash pumps running so as to keep digging several more feet. The pit is 30' x30'. The cellar floor was at the natural ground level so we could have a walkout cellar in the back of the house. The septic system is in the front yard. All the dirt taken out of the pit formed the mound that would be the front yard. I can't remember how many truckloads of sand were brought in to fill the pit that ended up being about 15 ft deep so we walk right out of our front door onto the lawn. Keep up the great videos!

How would you recommend repairing or getting rid of a leech bed that is basically just an eyesore cesspool swamp? Can't run a riding mower over the area it's covered anymore, and I'm gonna need to have installed this same septic system with a dosing tank & pump, as it stands right now we have only a single septic tank and that's it, so I'm probably gonna have the septic tank replaced as well.

My mother’s old house was built in the 1950’s. It was originally a Farm home. The owner put in a cesspool that holds over 1,000 gallons probably sometime after the 1960’s. It still works great. But I’ve been considering having a septic tank installed. But if it isn’t broke why fix it mentality keeps sinking in. $25k isn’t cheap but in the long run it isn’t expensive. Any thoughts people?
