"Perspectives" 1975 Summer El Salvador Surfing

Another surf documentary by Will Lucas, Surf 64 Productions surf64.com. In the summer of 1975, six young surfers from The Jupiter Beach Florida area ventured out for their first El Salvador surf trip. The power of the Pacific Ocean was new to half the group, but as with any travelers at the time, other challenges faced them as well. By the end of the trip, they had all worked their way into surfing the points at Punta Roca and Zunzal with confidence. 42 years later, Wayne Cornelius, Doug Bent, Bob Washam and Paul Hass tell their version of story behind the remaining Super 8mm film from the trip. Joining them on the trip were Paul's brother John as well as Royce Powell who did most of the filming. The original film was lost over the years, leaving only a low resolution copy captured on disk along with some faded memories. Runtime 27-1/2 minutes.

Hello guys, is really a surprise to find such a realistic documentary of the golden years, my name is Alejandro Moises Calderon and maybe we shared some beautifull waves in 1975 , at that time I was a beginner taking all those beautiful waves at the point and Sunzal as well, actually my second house was at Sunzal we were riding these waves every day, I will come from San salvador to surf almost every day, you know rocky points just for you and your pals! it was crazy, an adiction having those kind o waves for only you and your pals. I love the way you assemble the film, I myself went to school in L.A. and studied film production , I made a unique film about the history of surfing in El Salvador I started filming in 1976 in 16 mm and Super 8 continued filming for the next 35 years with all videos formats you can imagine, finally i edited the film in 2008 and is called " 4 Decades of Surfing in El Salvador" is in DVD and I will love for you guys to have it. Bob Rotheramm is my Friend , we get together once in a while to talk about odl stories and yours is something we have to keep it foreever, Thank you for sharing such a beautifull documentary of my country. There were 7 rolls of film of this trip but 35 years ago some surfer borrowed the films to show his friends and we got back 6 which we were missing the film that had the "full moon swell" on it. If someone out there has this film will you please return it!
