The 2A8 model you briefly discussed by another manufacturer at the start of the video...I wouldn't mind reading up on the new hull armour you spoke about. As far as I was aware there was no 2A8 variants yet. Only moc-up 2A7s with added trophy APS as a demonstrator to what the 2A8 might look like or what capabilities it would have. At both Eurosatory 2022 and IDET 2023 the tank being displayed was a 2A7 with APS and not a 2A8. KMW had a plaque next the vehicle on display with a downloadable brochure on their website as a source. So if there's any new information about a 2A8 I'd love to read it to stay up to date.
I read in an article the 2a8 was a lower hull upgrade of suspension and some armor but I had read the 2a7a1 was the upgrade with the trophy. I have reservations about that kit. It looks incomplete. This shows pictures that the 2a8 is built though. armyrecognition.com/germany_german_army_heavy_armoured_vehicle_tank_uk/leopard_2a8_mbt_main_battle_tank_technical_data.html
@Ricks135scalemodels thank you for the link, upon reading it, it does appear to make note that it's a demonstrator model of a 2A8 which I'm assuming is based on a 2A7 chassis. I think this is what the 2A8 will likely look like but officially it's not a 2A8. We might actually get a glimpse into an official 2A8 this year at Eurosatory 2024. Excellent videos as well, just subscribed, thinking of getting into kit building since war thunder has ignited this passion for military vehicles. Prior I was more interested in model trains, maybe there's even a way to combine the two hobbies, make a custom military train transporting tanks or something.
@unlockingsnow8571 ya. The information is limited. I to have done HO trains. I have enjoyed the models but the research is so much fun.it helps the build.
Luv your attention to detail and how you dissect the instructions. Most other reviews are fairly rudimentary. I only found 1 other RUclipsr who does a post review build. Keep up the great work.. When I get to my Abrams X I'll be sure to check your build video. btw your builds are great , me? I'm more of a assembler.
@@Ricks135scalemodels Alas I I got your KF-51 build viedo mixed up , I thought it was the Abrams X, oh well. I look forward to seeing your experiences with the M1X.
Nice review! One question: The unit markings ad the MLC marking on the decal sheet look very light. Are they grey which would be correct, or did they ptint it in white?
Hi Rick, this loks to be a really great kit, I much prefer modern armour but have been known to build a couple of WWII vehicles, I would still like to build a T-34 85/76, one day, looking forward to this build, I would like to wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia
Hi Rick, I know you've built this as well as the Rye Field Model kit. Which would you recommend for a straight "out of the box" build with no aftermarket or upgrade sets?
The RFM is twice the model. But, it's more challenging for newer builders. Lots of PE parts. Both kits go together perfect. Both are fun builds. The RFM is for more experienced builders. You don't have to be an expert just not a 1st or 2nd time kit.
Quality control at Border needs to be better, missing parts even though it's in the instructions? for the amount of money they charge it's gotta be better.

Just ordered this kit on ebay and bought the book! Thanks for the recommendations!
It's a reliable biild. I've enjoyed it. I just found out RFM is doing one also.
I sort of wish I bought the RFM instead lol. Oh well.@@Ricks135scalemodels
Leopards are the eptimoy of future combat systems

Cool to see that these markings are for a tank from my battalion i came across this tank almost everyday greetings from germany, Munster 2./L93 ❤
That is so kool. I love the leopard tank. Greating from California!!
Do any of the 2a7v have the extra armor on top of the main sight like the model. I have not seen any pictures of german versions with this.
Hi Rick. Great review as usual. Just got the Vespid Eagle IV as a result of your review. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and happy modelling
Merry Christmas to you as well. I hope you enjoy the Eagle. It was a fun build.

I've watched a lot of videos figuring out the little trick. I have the abrams x video to post and I'm half way threw the lower hull. Great build.

@danielwcheng6381 I have that video almost ready to publish.
Does the 84 links per track per side also apply to the 2A6? The directions for the 2A6 doesnt specify...
Yes.. it's 84 but a hint loose.. 83 is a little snug

Unfortunately they are too white. Most models seem to get that wrong.

Thank you and the same to you down there!! I'm setting up to start the build right now!

I agree. I noticed that MBK just did a review on this kit. They were missing the same parts.
Why are leopards so bad at hiding?
No matter where they hide, they're always spotted.
Well... nothing can hide these days.
