This first battle really shows how Amuro was both oblivious to the consequences of war. He killed one guy with the swipe of his saber, and caused two EFSF to be lost in space.
Amuro was a teenager and it was do or die. He just watched dozens of people die including Frau’s parents. Plus the Zakus were literally trying to kill him right up in his face. Amuro’s dad was rescued and they met again later.
This isn't actually that unrealistic! If you can somehow break into a military base and crack open the hatch, you can turn on an Abrams tank and start driving if it's fuelled up. Usually, the assumption is that not all of those three conditions will be possible
I do not miss the days when everybody had to wisecrack at every opportunity in dubs. The sudden shift from "scared shitless" to " _you_ smile" then back to "scared shitless" is the kind of thing that'd give people whiplash.
@@ZombryaTheDark It does, yeah. It came out in 1998 (to celebrate the Gundam franchise's 20th anniversary), so it even predates Gundam Wing's Toonami run, which debuted on March of 2000. Both Mobile Suit Gundam and 08th MS Team premiered on Toonami in 2001.
this voice acting for this movie trilogy is a LOT better than the television series in the US! haha i'm glad i got to experience the movies before the television show. i loved everybody's voices--especially char's--more in the movies than the show.
You're kidding, right? The dubbing for this is terrible. Amuro sounds WAY too relaxed to be in a firefight. He should sound a bit more panicked and sacred in his first battle with the Gundam. Also, the Zeon soldiers called their guns "lasers" when the reference material clearly calls them 120mm machine guns.
This Amuro seems to have a lot more confidence than the TV version, at least when he first gets into the thing. Although I have to say, aiming for the "central control system" doesn't sound quite as interesting as hitting the cockpit.
"Our lasers didn't even leave a scratch on him what the hell is that thing made of anyway." hahaha this goes down as so bad it's good. Looking back that is
Just because you're ignorant and don't know that really good dubs like gundam wing, the dub for the tv gundam, outlaw star, slayers, ruroni kenshin, cowboy bebop, slayers, lodoss war, tenchi muyo and all of project a-ko doesn't make you correct you ignorant pos
@TauCommandX, wow your ignorance is truly outstanding. Mobile Suit Gundam is 31 years old. Its simply drawn the way everything was back then and besides you need to go rewatch speed racer (mach go go go) and reasses your statement becuase it's no whare near MSG's quality
Wow the script they went with here had way too much 90’s tude for the tone of the scene. They really did better by part 3, which I really like. The cast was fine, they just had more experience and direction by that point.
It has Steven Blum. The voice of Tom from Toonami. Its an official dub, from an official company. The TV show wasn't Gundam 0079's first attempt in America. So, for the last goddamn time, this is from the VHS movies. They had different voice actors back then.
I think this was dubbed by the same people who wouldn’t let DBZ mention death. The “central control system” is the pilot and he’s not disabled, he’s dead 😂
This is why you use close quarters weapons before the enemy gets up... pretty sure the Zaku II could cut through the RX 78-2 with maybe one of its axes or even just start ripping at the joints to disable mobility by hand... pilots took to long to think on this...
That's a stupid opinion about a stupid topic one is not better than the other who translated and what anime it is are what matter take for instance Baccano! is an anime I suggest in dub because it takes place in the New York area.
oh dear god ridden with shit. first off they were bullets! not lasers! and when he siad no federation mobile suit had that kind of power i flipped! THEY DIDNT EVEN KNOW THE FEDERATION WERE MAKING ANY! DID THEY SERIOUSLY WING THE ENTIRE SCRIPT FROM LOOKING AT TH CARTOON!
Zaku Pilot- "We will never have a chance like this ever again!"
He couldn't be more right then ever
This hits hard after watching GQuuujjx
This first battle really shows how Amuro was both oblivious to the consequences of war. He killed one guy with the swipe of his saber, and caused two EFSF to be lost in space.
One of them was his dad
It’s war, every action has a price. Not just THIS battle.
Besides, this was the purpose of Gundam; Show the horrors of warfare.
he killed the other guy too... did he say control unit? he actually hit the cockpit. that man fried to a crisp in pure agony
He's not puss* like Banagher. he killed to survive.
Amuro was a teenager and it was do or die. He just watched dozens of people die including Frau’s parents. Plus the Zakus were literally trying to kill him right up in his face. Amuro’s dad was rescued and they met again later.
Lmao, the most powerful mobile suit in the galaxy and it's got the keys in it
stuff setting MS up but pilot and stuff kill by Zaku.
This isn't actually that unrealistic! If you can somehow break into a military base and crack open the hatch, you can turn on an Abrams tank and start driving if it's fuelled up. Usually, the assumption is that not all of those three conditions will be possible
but it got destroyed by a floating head
I think they are switches/button.
Actually, the Rx-8-2 had no keys. Anyone can literally walk right in and they just had to hit the on button.
I do not miss the days when everybody had to wisecrack at every opportunity in dubs. The sudden shift from "scared shitless" to " _you_ smile" then back to "scared shitless" is the kind of thing that'd give people whiplash.
I love how laid back amuro is in this dubbed version on his first mobile suit battle lmao
Imagine being beat by a kid who just read the instructions
Instructions of a mobile suit so advanced its impervious to yours and could literally be piloted by a random teen and absolutely murder you.
HO NO
WHAT DO I DO
FIIIIIIIIIIRE!
Best voice acting ever
lordofgangstas "Uh-oh. I'm a goner."
Geez, Amuro, don't panic or anything.
this is why Toonami is the only people that can dub Gundam
Toonami is not a dubbing company, it's a broadcasting block. The dub for the TV series was done by Ocean Studios.
Bang Zoom did the dub for the Movies that were only on the VHS
@rickprime83 no, this was by animaze and zro limit productions.
Our *lasers* didn't even put a scratch on it
*lasers.*
Nick The Undying 😂😂
Nick The Undying they made a mistake
Lasers come in shells. That makes sense.
average dub watcher
Fuel tank
RX 78 2 is just sleeping there like: "Bro, someone's inside me, not gonna lie"
Geez, 5:24 is far more brutal than in the show...
Why don't they have this dub on DVD??? It's bad, sure....but it's too nostalgic to just let go of. LOVE THIS.
That's Kevin Seymour for you. Some of the animes he dubbed gave so much nostalgia #RIPKevinSeymour

This one was directed by Doug stone though
So this predates the toonami run?

What company did this dub?
I just saw this movie last year and I think this has aged wonderfully.
this voice acting for this movie trilogy is a LOT better than the television series in the US! haha i'm glad i got to experience the movies before the television show. i loved everybody's voices--especially char's--more in the movies than the show.

And like that, a legend was born. The Pilot of the RX-78-2 and the NU / HI-NU Gundam. The White Shooting Star. Lieutenant Colonel Amuro Ray.
Eugh, this Amuro.
Is this the Swaile Amuro?
***** nope
Ok. Yeah i liked the Swaile Amuro better.
+Jared Prymont Too Many Bright slaps, he needs.
@@Jmeon4eva you mean Amuro Godai
Always fully the instructions for everything to be simple.
Next, you can fly a jet with only a manual in a few minutes!
Unlimited energy
i think i can handle it
Honestly those two could carry a show on their own. Kinda like those Stormtrooper sitcoms....
RIP Michael Lindsay
4:59 Oh is that what you're gonna do Amuro? Uh huh, sure.
This Amuro seems to have a lot more confidence than the TV version, at least when he first gets into the thing. Although I have to say, aiming for the "central control system" doesn't sound quite as interesting as hitting the cockpit.
they censored that part, because it was pretty savage. amuro doesn't mess around
3:30-3:36 on hindsight Gundam Origin did had Federation gun tanks and gun cannons prior to One Year War. Nah, it’s coincidence.
'There's practically unlimited energy powering this thing.' And later on he says, 'I'm almost out of energy!'.
5:38 - (looks at the wreckage) 'I've seen worse'.
Was this like the only pilot that actually read the manual.
Like how the Zaku are wielding gigantic DP28s. 👍🏾
Has anyone seen this Classic Anime TV show from your childhood(2:27)
idk, brad swaile really does a good job at voicing over for amuro for the tv show. he's pretty much the best english dub's counter part of toru furuya
"Our lasers didn't even leave a scratch on him what the hell is that thing made of anyway." hahaha this goes down as so bad it's good.
Looking back that is
i think this amuro voice is decent actually lol
Our lasers didnt.... thats a machine gun, bro.
And he sure did!
brad swaile should own the exclusive rights to amuro cause this is painful lol
Ah yes. American dubbing before the mid-noughties.
So bad, yet so good.
They sound Canadian to me.

The dub for the tv series was done in Canada
The dub for the movie trilogy (this) was done in California
Well, if you're familiar with Brad Swaile as him in MSG and CCA, he was voiced by Michael Lindsay for the movies...doesn't perform as well.
Michael Lindsay is voicing Amuro Ray.
"Laser swords?" actually Beam Sabers
wait why do they say lasers? I thought the zakus had machine guns and the gundam's vulcans also fired bullets
Yup and you can see the Zaku's gun eject shell casings too.
Anyone knows the title of the background music?
4:13 *Iconic **4:17** Pose~!* 5:07

The quality on this video doesn’t really age well.
o_O never seen this before. Was there an old episode type or something?
I like the original Japanese version of this scene better, with Norio Wakamoto (Cell) as Gene.
I never knew slender and denim were in the original show.
I choose the form of Gundam.
laser sword 💀💀💀
WTF Amuro, he was just about to retreating
Too dangerous..
Although I HATE english dubs, I liked the re working of gallant char during amuros fight with gene haha
So am I the only one hearing Joe from Digimon as Amuro?

NO offence to this dub,but I much prefer the original, just subbed

Steve Blum dubbed Char in this long lost dub
Of course it doesnt make any sense. You need to understand the English language to watch the english dubs.

I really enjoyed the VHS dubs. They were all decent. Especially Char.
They were subtitle only? Thats gay.
i don't really like this dub to be honest
i prefer the dub of the TV show
Flame Fury what with the needless insertion of modern sound effects and everyone sounds soo wooden esp char?
IKR? "Gun-damn"?! Seriously? It's pronounced "Gundam", without the "n"! They just botched that name in the compilation movies.
Man, I hate this dub.
The American dub be cringe as heck lmao
This dub is shit, in the sub Amuro actually sounded scared, in this he sounds lobotomized.
The animation it terrible. ..who's parody is toys lnao
