    We've let Tom out of the Electrifying studio and onto the road for an in-depth test of the plug-in hybrid version of the Volvo XC40.
    Volvo has decided to dump dirty diesel and instead is going electric. If you are not quite ready to go 'all the way' with a 100% battery car, there's this PHEV version to bridge the gap with both petrol and electric power. Smart, swish and very Swedish, the XC40 is tax efficient as well as economical.
    See what Tom thinks of it and see if he fits in the boot. Please share the video and subscribe to the channel if you like it!

    Here in Australia, a PHEV makes more sense than full electric at the moment due to the lack of infrastructure and the long distances

    Hi Tom, good review. I’m planning my last new car purchase and really love the Polestar 2; it captivated me and at £45k, I’ve started comparing all other options to it. However, I really like the XC40 EV too.

    Most reviewers mention the fact that some of the vehicle settings such as climate controls are not easy to access on the go using the Sensus touch screen BUT don't mention that fact that you can adjust adjust many functions using voice control, from a simple press of the command button on the steering wheel. Just need to read the manual!

    It's good seeing you Tom backing reviews and basically on RUclips TV in my opinion I think this car is overpriced in your reviews could you do more comparisons as I think I'd rather go for a RAV4 or a CRV because you getting a bigger car and more for your money

    Tom Something you missed in the spec - Wading depth is 190mm! Anything deeper or if you make a splash, you will damage the 2 T5's turbos, and that won't be covered under the warranty - I asked And yes, the Pure electric version is well overpriced at nearly 60k - Especially when pre launch Volvo announced it would be 50

    • @Hlysander
      @Hlysander 3 года назад

      Wading depth of 19cm is just a puddle really, coupled with the fact that the XC40 is FWD only, really shows how much Volvo expects the owners of this version to go anywhere off the tarmac.
      Which is a shame, cause I'm a big XC40 fan and was hoping the PHEV was going to be AWD, and be able to tow at least 2tonne, but oh well. here's to hoping the full EV would be able to do that.

    Hi, great review. I've ordered one of those two months ago. Still waiting, estimated delivery date is end of September and I can't wait. Really hope it will be worth it. From what I've gathered XC40 EV is bigger, more expensive and less desirable version of Polestar 2. If I had those 12-15k pounds extra I would go for Polestar.
    Worth mentioning that you can get very good finance deals on PHEVs but not as much on EVs at the moment.

    So the safety tech is there to protect against the raft of distracting crap when you're driving. That's like adding an electric motor to to a heavy vehicle to lie its way through emissions regs...........

    Your average 6 year old isn't going to be watching this review, so why present it as if that's your audience. Seriously, I think we've got past the point where we need the over the top humour, so stick to the straight forward style which actually is very easy to listen to from you. Other than that, it was a great review thanks.

      You're allowed your opinion but most of us would watch this video because we like Tom's charm and his fun style, if you want to watch a robot there's plenty of boring reviews out there.

      If you don’t like it, why write?! It’s not like the presenter is going to change his natural way of presenting, because you want him to. In that case nobody would be doing anything different from anybody else 😏.

    Are you kidding me Tom? The electric only model starts from £59985!!! Volvo are living in cuckoo land if they think they're gonna sell alot of them for that price. A car that is essentially the size of a Nissan Qashqai and costs more than double!!!

      @@holdencaulfield2538 if a Nissan Qashqai or Infinity was specified to the price of this car it would be just as luxurious if not more, I think there's a fine line between quality and luxury now at the end of the day Volvo used to be a quality brand butare now underpinned by Chinese manufacturing. I think they need to do more comparisons when doing these cars so we can see the Difference and hear their opinions.
