- From 1965 comes this Bobby Braddock song who worked a s a pianist for Marty for a while. Bobby is probably best known for his co-writing of 'He Stopped Loving Her Today' which is considered by many as the greatest country song ever written. 'While You're Dancing' was not the biggest of hits for Marty only reaching 21 in the Country chart, but to me it's another Robbins platter of high quality.

THE BEST voice GOD ever gave us.
Thank you FATHER.
Give Marty a big hug for all of us.
Marty was my husband’s favourite singer, and I love him too, anything he sings he’s perfection, none will ever have the emotion and tone that Marty had.
Just wonderful could listen to him all day
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 74yo Aussie fan.
One of the finest male vocalists of all time.
If he were still alive today, he would still beat them all.
Marty, Roy Orbison Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash, Dolly, and Loretta are in my top 10 all-time favs. The golden voices that made one's heart swoon. 🥰👍🏼
Each day I find a new for me Marty's song and each one is more soulful than other
what a fantastic song... marty was a great singer
Haven't heard this one, but it is another of many really beautiful songs from Marty.
the greatest singer ever that is marty stunning voice
Bobby Braddock’s book brought me here. Nice catchy tune and a good start for a great songwriter.
Bobby Braddock was so talented!
Tarquin45 You mentioned that "He Stopped Loving Her Today" being considered as the greatest country song ever written. Any song to be deemed the greatest is so subjective. I have also heard that "Long Black Veil" is also considered the greatest country song ever written. It certainly is the most covered country song. The duet of Johnny Cash and Joni Mitchell singing "The Long Black Veil" shows why the song is at the very top of all-time greatest country songs.
New one for me. Love it.
This should have been a big hit in country and pop !
What a great recording by Marty, and a catchy tune by Bobby Braddock!
sweet song

Trying to learn how to play guitar to this song. Thinking I may be too old now.

never heard before, great
can’t get enough of this song.
This is a great post Loved it and it was new for me . Thanks so much.
The tunes from SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME.
It does seem to be a subtle reworking of that verse melody, yes.
I wonder why Bear Family didn't put this one on their box set of Marty?
Yep, guilty, I was subliminally channeling the melody of "Save the Last Dance For Me" when I wrote this song, my only excuse is I was young and dumb, haha, my best songwriting was still ahead of me. But what a thrill it was to be a new kid in town and to get a job playing piano for Marty Robbins. Sometimes when he wasn't flying and was riding on the bus with us, he would get out his little Martin guitar and sing on and on, what a treat that was, to get to listen to a little private concert from this man with the unbelievably great voice. What wonderful memories. It seems almost like forever ago, because it was.
Anyone know what happened to Tarquin45 ? I never see any posts from him anymore.
Tarquinius, is this on one of his albums?
