Synopsis -
After the Benbow Inn is besieged by buccaneers led by Blind Pew, a young Jim Hawkins discovers Captain Billy Bones' coveted treasure map. Jim embarks on the Hispaniola with Squire Trelawney and Dr. Livesey in order to uncover the treasure that's indicated on the map. After reaching the mysterious island, Long John Silver, the ship's cook, leads a mutiny of crew members who strive to claim the treasure for themselves, forcing Jim to cooperate with the Squire to protect the Hispaniola and those of her men who maintained loyalty throughout the mutiny.

Dr. Livesey is pretty much the hero of this story.
If it weren't for his wits and medical degree, this expedition would've been a complete disaster.

I'm Russian and this is my favorite soviet cartoon, and I can say that this dub is pretty nice, can appreciate the song adaptations, but nothing can beat the original, our actors made fantastic work.

Let’s be honest, both the English and Russian voice actors for Dr Livsey gave it their all and had the time of their lives voicing him. It’s like his positivity spread to the real life voice actors. The other characters are ok. The Captain is absolutely hilarious in the English dub, with his silly voice and mannerisms. But other than that the voice acting is just ok.
Edit: I forgot to mention Silver’s voice actor in the English dub. He is both a great and kinda funny yet fitting voice for Silver, but he’s also surprisingly menacing. My favorite scene of him is when he and the pirates infiltrate the fort. The pirates mutiny and depose Silver. Then Silver points out that they lost the ship and that He has the map. Then getting the pirates to realize how dumb they are and they reinstate Silver as leader. All the while Silver’s voice actor is going all in on the menacing yet clever department. It’s absolutely amazing

I know the Soviet version is far superior but I still love the goofy voices and odd sound effects of this one.
Agreed. There are strengths and weaknesses for both versions. The original dub has the live action segments and musical pieces (plus better quality footage), but the English dub has more sound effects and a somewhat okay cast.

Довольно интересно послушать любимых персонажей детства в английском варианте. Но я не ожидал полной переозвучки. Непривычно, на самом деле. Видно, что актёры старались, но того колорита, что есть в оригинальной озвучке передать не смогли. Если кто-то это прочитает, то наберите (или скопируйте) "Остров Сокровищ 1988". Можете найти с английскими субтитрами. Поверьте, оно того стоит :-)
Музыка тоже неудачная
В начале песня про Билли Бонса это просто ужас в сравнении с песней про мальчика Бобби. Даже перед песней собака засмеялась далеко не так смешно, как в советском оригинале. Дальше смотреть не стал
Озвучка всё сгубила... Ливси и Смолетта слушать не возможно. А Джигарханяна переозвучить в принципе не реально)))
@@protaper2009 Ну грамотный и талантливый переводчик, хорошо знающий русскую и американскую культуру, может грамотно посоветовать режиссёру в подборе озвучки и как распределить интонации. Но вот прям сейчас по телику показывают фильм про Борна и там показали загранпаспорт российский, так в этом паспорте по английски написано нормально, а по русски просто беспорядочный набор букв притом заглавных. Так что американцам плевать на достоверность перевода в дорогих блокбастерах, так что уж говорить про дешёвые мультики.

I agree with the opinion that soviet version is much better. At least because some scenes were cut out in the American version (I don’t even mean theatrical-musical inserts and “freeze frames” with brief characteristics of characters that are read out by voiceover). For example at 24:20 minutes there should have been a scene of a Jimmy fight with a pirate, here it was cut out.
Unfortunately the English voice acting is much inferior to the original. In original picture each character have an unique voice which tale a lot information about his temper. The character of Captain Smollett was especially blurred. In the Soviet version he was an extremely law-abiding, straightforward, hard military-hardened man. Here I didn't catch it. The music also changed to a poorly remembered unobtrusive background tune. New sound effects were taken from the library for cartoons like Tom and Jerry, and very often it did not combine with the frame.
I guess, our English-speaking comrades can notice some highlight of their version, which I can’t see. In addition, nostalgia is the strongest factor. But I know Russian language and a little English one, and can compare both versions of cartoon. And this comparison is not in favor of the English version. I'm very sorry that you cannot hear that magnificent music that sinks deep into your soul, you cannot feel the colorful nature of the characters in the original voice acting: the cheerful, gritty doctor Livesey; always serious captain Smollett, who tries to speak very clearly and loudly, which is why he always screams and spits; and of course, at the same time frightening and charming, the very low, deep voice of John Silver in the voice acting of Armen Dzhigarkhanyan.
Just in case, I’ll say that for sure there are Russian versions of American cartoons with which the current situation can be inverted, when we understand the Disney picture in our voice acting in our own way, differently than native speakers of the original pic.

Not to mention the energetic live-action segments and songs! I enjoyed it more in Russian even when I didn't speak it. :P

The worst part of this version is they removed the songs! The live actions segments added to the craziness!
Plus I call it a "nerf" but i think the sounds from the original are way better! The hits and crashes sound so powerful! And the the soundtrack had more charm!
This is a pretty fun experience. Love the goofy cartoony humor. dr. Livesey needs more scenes in this, tho.
Gotta love how they took care to translate the signs but didn't change "Rum" being written as "Rom" (which is how you pronounce it in Russian).
During this period, “rum” was occasionally written in English as “rom” as they were only just starting to standardize English spelling. At least, that would be my excuse if I just didn’t want to reanimate it.
This is surprisingly well animated and fun to watch for an old Soviet animation

This is a fun little movie (although it is weird how the movie switches from decently animated scenes to something out of Monty Python), I'm glad that "Dr. Livesey Walk" introduced me to it.
Personally, I always thought the art style we see in all but three scenes of the movie was like Peanuts/Charlie Brown or Schoolhouse Rock.

озвучка отвратительная. шарм утерян не из-за отсутствия кино-вставок, а именно из-за озвучки. голоса подобраны "от балды", хотя изначально каждый актер озвучки подбирался для своего персонажа, сторонние звуки а-ля "лонни тюнс" вообще вставлены куда угодно, независимо к месту они там или нет. работа по дубляжу выглядит весьма халтурно. такое ощущение, что занималась дубляжом какая-то "кузькина шарашка". неудивительно, что мульт на западе в таком виде прошел незамеченным

As an American, I can understand that the English dub is shotty in certain spots. I just find the extra added sfx to be the better call, in terms of action, because there’s very little in the original dub. That’s not to say the original dub didn’t have sound effects, but most aren’t present when necessary.
I'd watch the original if I could find a subbed verison, which I'm assuming is why majority of people are here

Я считаю, что надо этот мульт переозвучить на англю вместе с песнями и с актерами более близкими к оригиналу, плюс поднять качество видео, дабы и западным фанатам было комфортно смотреть сей шедевр анимации.
Я думал со своей командой такой сделать, но у меня начались экзамены а другу скоро в армию уходить.
Но потенциал у нас был, сам я занимаюсь режиссурой и звуковыми эффектами.
Хотя в основном озвучиваю, но данный мульт действительно заслуживает славный дубляж.
У меня были намерения, прям полностью дубляж сделать.
Я имею ввиду, я хотел даже песни перевести.
Но это слишком много времени займёт, но того стоит.
Сам я английский чутка знаю, но я могу спокойно повторить интонации оригинальных персонажей на английскую манеру речи.
Потому что официальный американский дубляж - это позор.
Пришел только чтобы услышать доктора Ливси, честно говоря я разочарован.

Одна претензия, тут Трелони приобрёл серьёзный спокойный голос, как подобает аристократу. Но он совсем не вяжется с писклявым толстяком из русского оригинала!
Притом, что мне нравится в целом новая музыка(но, естественно, не то, что оригинал), у меня КУЧА претензий к новой озвучке. Естественно это моё мнение, и я его не навязываю, но мне по душе больше оригинальный мультфильм)
Дубляж в этой версии впринципе крайне неудачный,да и музыка какая-то никчемная.

I actually like the way they translated the original and gave it a more piraty sound, but they also lost it in expressiveness when it was so needed. For example doctor Livsey in the original had a joker-like paycho laugh, but here he sounds sof soft. Also the music, the goofy ahh sound effects completely took away from all the snappiness of the original

The music does't match the original.
The original was lucky to have a good composer, even though the crappy instrumentation hasn't aged well. The English version music is very generic and bland. That said, the Ben Gunn song is nice.

Меня одно не устраивает. В оригинале говорилось, что Джим каждый день тренируется, и даже показали, как он навешивает п*****й пирату в таверне. А тут этого не показано, и остается только охреневать, почему он владеет карате.
По-моему, лучший момент фильма, на 2 месте баталия с пиратами в крепости
Одно уточнение - о том что персонаж "делает зарядку" сказано только в его досье, но в музыкальной вставке на тренажёрах только пираты, там нет Валерия Бессараба.

The sound effects are much better in this version than the soviet version imo. The voice actor for Long John Silver has a similar delivery to the Soviet one though all the other voices are off, with Livesey lacking in the Giga Chad voice.
