LesleytheBirdNerd I have two copies😊 I adore your bird bouquet book! It looks so nice on display too😊 Wish I could see a Gray Jay, they looks so cute, but they don’t come as far south as lower NY😉
LesleytheBirdNerd We love you!
I bought 2 copies recently. One for our guest bedroom, the other for beloved friends' little girl.
We love this book!
It cracks me up so much to think peanut is like “omg everyone is saying there is a monster around, where is it??!” ...and it’s HIM 😂
I want you to know that I watch your videos from start to finish I think they are truly amazing so I hope you keep putting them on so I can keep watching
Hey. That is super awesome. I'm glad you enjoy these little videos. I will certainly keep making them :) Thanks for the wonderful comment
The snow accumulating on your sleeve in the opening speaks of your patience. Makes me think you prop a stick up under your elbow to hold it up that long. You're so still! Love the video.
Lesley, you're such a treasure! Your work and relationship with these wonderful friends is remarkable! You're so right, the winter and lack of sun etc. can really depress.. Please keep in mind how wonderfully uplifting your videos are. You're work is amazing! Lots of love and beautiful sunlight throughout your life!
Thank you for this. I hope you know how your efforts help me smile. Greatly appreciated from LA Ca.
I am in Texas, 65 year old woman, who story of depression mirrors yours. I thought I was listening to a recording of myself when I heard you say that you thought you had it under control, but depression had started to rear its head again. But you were determined to be happy. THAT IS ME. wow. I would love to connect as friends for support. I have been binge watching your channel, today. I love birds and just nature in general. I am an artist. PLEASE do not stop your recordings of these little jewels. It's a gift in the way you bring them to us. It also help people combat depression when watching these.
These vids make me smile so much- nice and relaxing before bed
I got some good red winged blackbird footage. I got one to stand on my hand and eat for a few minutes, before a higher ranking male chased it off. This one stood there and even sang, flashing his wing patches at someone who tried to budge in. I moved my arm and he didn't fly off. I even walked slowly and he stayed there, shoveling the food in.
No way! Awesome.
@@LesleytheBirdNerd I have a video of them arguing over food at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary.
@@infinitecanadian Ahh ok. I will check it out after
Lesley.. I'm new 'round these parts.... but I already want to thank you very much for your great footage, commentary, and information. I live in New Hampshire, so I seem to have many of the same species locally.
I have YEARS worth of your old videos to dig through. I can't wait.
Hey, you are very welcome. I'm glad you enjoy these videos and I hope you enjoy the older ones too :) Thanks so much for the lovely comment. Take care
@@LesleytheBirdNerd hi Lesley; I'm a new subscriber from Italy, I just discovered your diaries today and I'm appreciating them quite a lot; I also find them to have also a soothing quality to it (good, especially for certain difficult periods, we might have something in common in that regard); thank you a lot for your efforts; please say hi for me to your cast of... characters (and sometimes, what peculiar characters😉)
I can't imagine how your bare hands must feel in that weather. Loved all your amazing shots, but seeing the Blue Jays together in a tree, as well as, Hoppy with her mate is so heartwarming! Hope you are feeling better now that Winter has passed. Thank you so much for sharing your Bird Nerd Diaries!
I love all your awesome videos Lesley!!! Keep them up!!!
Thank you so very much!
Beautiful diary. Thank you for posting these.
We love you Lesley, thank you so much for all of your work! Love seeing all the different birds, so beautiful!🥰
I'm always grateful for your videos, Lesley; you treat the animals w/ such respect for their wild nature, accepting them just as they are. It's wonderful!
Your videos fill my soul. Thank you for sharing them. I can't get enough. Love ya and hugs.
Wonderful insight into our feathered friends. We enjoy the tender love and devotion you represent. Thank you 🇺🇲🕊🇨🇦
As some one who struggles with depression I know how it feels. Your videos are always a pick me up. I enjoy the beautiful photos of the birds. Just think your not alone with this disease and keep up the beautiful work you do knowing that it brightess your followers days. Hope you feel better each and every day.
The doves and squirrels seem to have an agreement in my backyard. You stay over there, we’ll stay over here. Another great mini documentary.
I love your vids. I've been watching for 3 years
Aww no way! Thank you so much :)
aw sweetie. i deal with depression too. hugs and prayers hun! good ju-ju from the south
You are a gift to the world. Thank you for your exceptional videos and observations! You are so gracious and generous to share it all. Your love for God's feathered creatures shines in every video. How birds enrich our lives! Oh and your book is lovely! (I plan to purchase it for my future grandchildren if I am ever that blessed.)
its so funny to see the blue jays try to decide which peanut they are going to take , looks like they try to weigh them all and pick the heaviest , makes my laugh every time , and the way they look at u sideways , its like they saying , yes , can i help you sir , lol
what sassy and comical birds they are
my heart goes out to you Lesley as i no what you are dealing with when you talk about depression , its like a cloud comes over you're emotions and takes over your life , for me it just appears unexpectedly out of nowhere and can last for days ,
try to keep happy thoughts and do things that make you happy
for me its viewing your videos and watching my birds
take care ^ ^
Thank you so much for posting all this footage, Miss Lesley! Nature is so beautiful in so many ways :)
Peaceful and beautiful as usual... Thanks!
DEAR LESLEY, I EMPATHIZE WITH YOU, DEPRESSION AND SLEEPLESSNESS ROBS YOU OF JOY.
YOU HAVE THE BLESSING OF YOUR BIRDS, AND I DO TO, LISTENING TO YOU AND SHARING YOUR FEEDING, BEING WITH THEM. THANK YOU 😘
CAMILLE AUSTRALIA
You do a supper job with feeding the birds and filming. I see your red fingertips! Love your patience and love for the little creatures with feathers and not!❤️
Thank you again, Miss Lesley, for your wonderful video. I have learned more from you than anyone else🐦
The Jay knew you were feeling down they came to greet you I am glad you saw your mom thank you for sharing love the Jay 🐦
Always love to hear about the feathered cuties here we have had an unusual late start on our winter migrants heading off, the Juncos were still here when the tree swallows returned and the White Throated Sparrows were still here at least a couple of days ago when I last had the opportunity to spend time watching the little guys and gals. The two red breasted huthatches (both the pale breasted timid one, likely female and the assertive rusty red breasted one, likely male) along with several White Throated Sparrows (a mix of white and tan striped morphs as usual) showed up at the feeder Saturday morning too which means they are at the very least overlapping with our catbird friends that returned from the tropics and made themselves known last week.
Once they return the catbirds always come to get some suet and then really get excited when we put out Jelly or better yet fruit.
I always love to see the catbirds and we spoil their "sweet beaks" with Jelly and fruit. Since mimids don't go up further north than New England or southernmost Canada you probably have never seen one of them just like I have never seen a Grey/Canada Jay. Catbirds are Mimids like Mocking birds and Thrashers are predominately insectivores with a bit of fruit on the side but among Mimids they really seem to really love fruit. Last year we even had four separate pairs coming for the good stuff which is quite impressive given how territorial they are!
Hopefully you are feeling better by now and getting to enjoy your returning fair season birds. :D
Love your videos ! Bless you for feeding the birds ! How lucky you are living close to the birds !
@LesleytheBirdNerd Thank you for all that you are and the love and the compassion you bring to these gifts for God! i love by new hoodie i will be wearing it at Ute Mountain Mesa Verde Birding Festival in Cortez, CO this coming May!
That's a coincidence ...I struggle with sleep issues as well. It's, bed by 10p and some gentle listening music to help me drift off....then up at 2am, out of bed, back to sleep then up at 4:30...then back again, then up at 7 for some coffee I make, and to say hello and train my new budgie a bit...by the late morning I'm ready for one of two naps I need... It's good to have your nice nature videos to remind me that I'm one of the few humans who really know how to be with our sacred small creatures in their element. We will get more sleep soon...
16:03 - I absolutely went through the same sort of thing with an album I released & printed recently. It seems depression sometimes hits real hard when there's the opposite of a good excuse for it to do so I guess. - Anyway, my daughter and I really enjoy your videos! Thank you for continuing to share them with us and everyone; I'm sure that it would be far easier to simply go out and visit your birds without the hassle of gathering, editing, narrating, and uploading your incredible footage. Your effort and the resulting product is thoroughly appreciated.
Absolutely love your video's Leslie. I wish I had more Blue Jays here in Florida. Cardinals and Titmice dominate my yards feeder. You must have great patience to have gotten your little friends to eat from your hand. Thanks for bringing joy to all our homes.
its amazing that they trust you enough to eat out of your hand like that :D so cool
Thank you for sharing
Your birds. It is amazing
how much they trust you...
Thank you Miss Lesley I love your videos they give me ideas to try with my feathered FRIENDS I love the birds so much keep those videos coming
Simply wonderful good day !!
Hi Lesley. I visited Calgary in February and experienced Black Cap and Mountain Chickadees feeding off my hand for the first time. It's an incredible experience. To feel their tiny feet is wonderful. It's a memory which I'll cherish for the rest of my life and always lifts me. So thank you for the lovely videos and memories. You have many friends.
Lee from Worcestershire in the UK.
Love the Corvids! Indifferent to the rest. I'm the same way with dogs; I love Border Collies, German Shepherds and Retrievers, but don't care for any of the others. As a recent subscriber, I eagerly await all your Corvid videos.
I spend a lot of time with corvids :)
Thanks Lesley. Sorry to hear you get down sometimes - I do too. The toughest part about it is that there isn't usually a reason for it - it just hits you. You spread a lot of joy and love and we all appreciate it - I wish we could return the favor. You've lifted my spirits many times... and you've also made me cry once!
I love the part at 5:36:00 where Peanut makes the blue jays wait -- your choice of music combined with panning from jay to jay was perfect! --- Prayers for that old depression stuff - hope spring and more daylight help a lot!
Thank you dear Lesley for your terrific n
wonderful videos! Such a joy for this silly old man!...Thanks so much! I'm going to try leaving a raw egg or two now that you've given the idea!
Bless you dear Lesley and best wishes concerning your health issue
Lesley it's always a pleasure to listen to your video great job👍 Serge 🍁
Leslie, I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with depression. Believe me when I say I know how you feel. I hope you always find someone or something to cheer you up the way you do for everyone else with your wonderful videos! Thanks sharing them!
Hopefully spring has arrived in your woods and you are feeling better. The birds are singing outside my window, now. Love your videos!
Love your videos! I look forward to each new one. I live on a pond in Ohio and get a lot of waterfowl as well as other birds. It brings me much joy to watch out my window for new birds. Hope you get feeling better. More sunshine will help. Love your book! Bought three. A t-shirt will be next.
My gosh I lived Minnesota International Falls just a jump and skip to Canada 🇨🇦 . Les. Your speaking voice is so spectacular. I’m enthralled
Thank you I do love your bird diary such a inspirational.
Sorry for your depression. I get it, as very unique and talented people tend to avoid being social., Yet it is good people, like Christians, that will encourage you be fun too.
You are a joy to us out here!
Kristin from Lebanon, PA
Thank you Lesley, I enjoy your videos very much.
Can’t thank you enough Lesley for these lovely videos! SO appreciate your time, efforts and talents. I’ve shared with many. Used to live in the PNW and miss seeing so many of these birds. Tho slowmos are fabulous for seeing the details, love them. Our new home doesn’t have many birds yet, but it will! I’m learning lots! As well, these videos are so relaxing to watch which is much needed in these stressful times ❤️🙏🏼😍🤗
I just found your videos. I love them. You are blessed along with your feathered friends.
Birds are so fascinating. Can watch for hours. Do you have any stellar Jays there? They are so beautiful. Black head Crest with vivid blue body. Our grey jays are small and don't have white by their face. When we go camping in the mountains we always bring extra food for the birds. Love to watch the Jays pack it off. I also have trouble with depression in the winter. Short daylight hours are hard. Glad the birds cheer you up.
Thank you so much for all of your efforts and determination in making these wonderful videos! I too fight with the dark beast known as depression and your videos do SOOOO much to aide in fighting the battles and help brighten the darkness. "Just keep swimming" -Dori, finding Nemo
Omg please dont let the depression take hold! I totally know how you feel, as I have been there too and still have my moments... I know your strong enough to push through though. Think of your family, friends, and ALL of your fans who love you!!
Your videos are great I enjoy them so much
Wonderful video journal of the new year! So beautifully done! I feel as though I'm there when I watch your videos Lesley! Thank you.
Thanks for another gr8 vid👍, hope you're feeling better with the arrival of spring.
I cannot say no to them either. This video is PERFECT and I truly enjoyed every second of it. I go outside to feed my Jays, Chickadees, Woodpeckers, Nuthatches, Sparrows, Finches, Doves, Grackles?, Crows, Blackbirds, Robins, several squirrels, chipmunks, the list goes on and on. The Hummingbirds will be here soon and I cannot wait! I name each and every one of the critters that visit me daily, and I do have trouble with knowing who is who all the time especially with the Jays (I have about 10 that visit me daily). I have so many questions -- I will check out your book! I wish I lived where you live and could be out there without the worry of cars. We do also have a Falcon too and I know when he is around because the Jays are always alerting. I call them the LEO's of the forest (Law Enforcement Officers). I have to go out and walk around so that the critters can feel safe because the Falcon will not come into my yard if I am out there. We do have a few American Bald Eagles, and they could care less what is going on, but they do show off a lot. I live surrounded by water (Ocean, Bay, Creek) so we have a lot of wildlife here, but also too many cars :(
So glad the weather has allowed you out again
👍🤚my friend another great video or documentaries of January with all the birds and the squirrels. Roast I would have never thought they would eat that.
I think it was amazing that Peanut caught that kibble mid air great eye.
Sorry to hear depression got a hold of you my friend. Glad you try to stay positive even when your brain is pulling you towards negativity.
Wonderful captures as always from you.
I look forward to your videos as it always brightens up my day. You make so many people happy my friend. Take care 💕until next time. Sunshine Florida hug to you. ☀️🏖 bye
I love the music at 5:29. Hilarious! I love your videos Lesley! ♥️
I can never stop loving your videos!

Thank you :)
Your videos are beautiful and really cheer me up. Hope you are having more good days.
Great video Lesley! Thank you for always sharing them with us.👌👍😎JP
What a blessing your video has been, thank you. 😀
Depression is such a difficult thing to contend with. Im glad you recognize it and use the tools you know will work. Keep pushing on. I love that on the days you struggle, you see the little friends you have helped come rally around you. Such a beautiful show of friendship between species! I havent looked for your book title yet- but would love to order it. Congradulations!! How exciting! Good for you and a big thank you before even finding it! I bet it is charming.
Thank you so much for the nice words of encouragement. Depression sure is difficult I'm happy to say that I'm doing well these days. Take care
Great footage and narration, thanks for sharing and maintaining such a unique relationship with these wild birds! Keep up the good work!
Lesley, I recently discovered your channel and am loving your bird videos. It’s a welcome diversion from all that’s happening in the news. Oh, and I just purchased your book. It should be here tomorrow. Can’t wait. -Ron
What a wonderful video, Lesley! I'm very sorry to hear about your troubles with depression. We all go through it from time to time and some have it far worse than others. I hope you have people you can lean on because, in my experience, that helps a lot. Please take care of yourself and keep these wonderful videos coming! They bring a lot of joy to me and so many others.
I so much enjoy your vids and content Nerd 👍👍👍up for sure and very appreciated!!! Bye the way, I know your gonna name that little dee.😃❤️
Great video. Thanks for sharing your down days as I have had them myself over this winter. Lack of sunshine didnt help and vitamin D is usually the culprit! Also light exposure lamps help feeling depressed. Yoga and meditation help too! Love watching your Jay videos. Your eye to distinguish one from another is amazing. I have tried to tell mine apart without much success. I recognize behavior more than i do the physical differences!
That one blue jay really knows his peanuts he checked em all until he got one with 2 inside lol
Love your videos, an absolute pleasure to watch. You have quite a gift with those birds. Thankyou!
That's so kind of you to say. Thanks very much. :)
This was a wonderful video, Lesley. Loved the diary format & the background music adds so much too. I appreciate the time & effort it must take on your part to film, edit & put these videos together for us to enjoy. I'm so sorry you suffer with depression. I've been on a pill for depression since 1999 & thank Heaven, it works! Perhaps as the weather warms up & spring arrives, you may feel better. Take care & thanks! ♥
Love the diaries Lesley.
Present! - Hi Lesley - Glad to see a new video of Blue, Sweet Girl + crew👍
I wonder what happened to Spicey Jay's mate? He's the bachelor of Blue Jays :)
I'm glad they can look forward to your goodies.
Peanut is so spoiled! - Cod, Cat Kibble, egg (scrambled+poached or boiled), now Roast!!
They all look great. At 7:08 or 7:18 - your hand is so red - from the cold? The scenery looks like paradise.
Things will be better once spring arrives - hang in there. - Stephanie
I really enjoy watching your excursions into the woods. Thanks.
got you on FB too!
Glad to hear it!
I am hooked and I enjoy her narrating
Ty for your enthusiasm ❤️
me to :D
God bless you Leslie.
Sorry....Lesley❤
Coming across your Channel has renewed my long neglected love of bird watching. In fact, I joined the Maryland Ornithological Society to see if I could join in on some of the treks they make around here where I live. Also, I just had my first trip to Europe and did some bird watching there as opportunities presented themselves. I think I saw a dozen different kinds of birds, including some waterbirds and even was surprised to see a Canada Goose in Holland. I love your videos. Your photography is excellent, giving us all such a good look at the details in those sweet creatures. Thanks for sharing your wonderful experiences.
Thank you so much for another excellent video and for sharing your incredible experiences, I can't even imagine how much time you dedicate to your passion. I am almost one year into my birding and photography journey and I find you to be such a great inspiration. I've been fortunate enough to have seen all of our Provinces except for Newfoundland, every one of your beautiful videos show me how much I have missed by not seeing your wonderland, you are certainly blessed to be surrounded by such beauty ( and beautiful friends) . I think its pretty admirable that you take so much time to make those lucky birds and all your followers lives so much more enjoyable. Keep up the great work Lesley.
Saw this latest video and just had to watch it now instead of waiting for my usual Monday morning at the office break. Don't know what I'll do tomorrow. Good news is there are so many to rewatch although I so look forward to watching each week's new video Monday morning. Your videos and narration truly make my day brighter.
Thank you for another wonderful video!
You are welcome. Thanks for watching
Glad to learn about Canada Jay's. Going to Sax-zin in Feb maybe we will see one besides the owls
much appreciated Lesley
Have you heard about the word? Bird is the word...
:D
A-well, a bird, bird, bird, b-bird's a word
@@LesleytheBirdNerd don't ♥ me! Because the next I'll be the one eating out of your hand...
My father probably had (undiagnosed) clinical depression, I had my own variety, much more limited, it was wonderful to get over it, it was like carrying a 50 lb. pack around all the time. Fortunately, I don't need anti-depressants any longer. I don't know how my father got through the Great Depression and WWII!
Very impressed with Peanut's reaction time, and your quality videography skills!
Great stuff right here. Love it!
...and I just ordered your book! Looking forward to it. 😊
You are a true bird whisperer!
They are so sweet
Great narration and cinematography!
Thanks for sharing, we are enjoying the longer videos
I think he knew you wouldn't be back for that piece, he was saving it for later.
