Thanks! Though just to be clear, YT does not pay me anywhere near the kind of money I'd need to be able to afford a lens like this! The kind people at Sigma UK lent it to me for the day 😅
I enjoyed the video so much! I liked the other youtube short where you showed it (and i believe there was another video about the lens) and this made me laugh. I loved the video so much and the jokes that you made. You're such a nice guy.
I remember seeing this show up in an issue of Popular Photography magazine many many years ago, I was utterly blown away by sheer mass of it. Still am today.

I don't know why the photography community likes to use focal ratio to describe a aperture but I use my homemade telescope for daytime photography, it has a 127mm aperture and ~f5.5 focal ratio, yes it has enough focus travel to get close things.
I talked with sigma rep a few years back and when you say it is rare thats no joke he has framed invoices for both that exist in Canada. Thats right to my understanding there is only two of these sold in Canada.
If I am correct, ONE of them was shown at Leo's Camera in Vancouver, BC, Canada (famed local pro-level camera store!) at one point so I wonder who bought it! V
Reminds me of airport security when I went travelling with a Looking Glass display (the really blocky kind) in my carry on luggage. Seems they don't like huge chunks of plastic with some electronics and wiring to the side for some reason...
That lens looks powerful enough to photograph the origin of the universe. I always wanted a snap of the Big Band in RAW and JPEG (because I can’t be bothered with all that Lightroom stuff).
The video is so crisp Edit: I watched more and when he said “I’m a man of mystery” while laying on the ground in a gillie suit is one of the funniest things I’ve seen on youtube
Any reason why you didn’t use another camera with the lens? All of the reviews I’ve seen seem to insinuate that it’s terrible at tracking which rather defeats the point of a fast telephoto.
this video is so entertaining, but I'm left with an existential crisis because this video came out 4 months ago even though i swear ive watched this 4 YEARS ago.
