I sang this in 1975 in a high school men’s chorus. We sang this for our winter/Christmas concert. Just as in your performance, you could’ve heard a pin drop. You gentleman killed this piece. Your accompanist is excellent. Congratulations.!
This is the type of music our director introduced to a group of teenagers in high school in the small town of Courtland VA when I joined our high school chorale from 1964 to 1968. We performed a lot of Robert Frost music, Negro spirituals and the opperetas My Fair Lady and H.M.S. Pinafore in front of our community, many of them whom had never witnessed an opera in person. I thank Ms. Violet Harrison who made an impact on all my peers who were fortunate enough to be exposed to so many genres of music. I only wish we could have had recordings of our performances. Our chorale was invited to a music extravaganza attended basically by Whites and all the choirs were graded by a point system. We were outstanding and could tell that people were surprised by their responses. Our singing was well received and we were given that top point and could not have been prouder to represent our people. Well done young men and to your musical director and fellow choir mates. You brought back all those beautiful sweet memories.
I had a similar experience in Springfield, Oregon. My Jr. High boys choir did this song, and learned some of the Jester Hairston spirituals as well. I love all those songs!
This was my introduction to the music of Randall Thompson when I was in high school at a choral festival. I think it was part of the impetus to also love the poetry of Robert Frost. Well done gentlemen.
I remember singing this with the 7th grade boys choir nearly 40 years ago ... it haunted me with its beauty then, and still does now. I doubt we sounded anywhere near as well, but oh my, you’ve moved me still. Thank you Mr. Frost, and thank you gentlemen for the marvelous performance!
Beautiful voices and beautifully done!
Thanks!

Nicely done! Love that bass laying the foundation down; all the voices!
Love it! Privileged to sing the series twice, once under Randall Thompson's direction. What a memory!

A lovely rendition of my favorite poem. Haunting and soulful.
It's emotional listening to them sing with there hearts and souls
Nice job gentlemen. The depth of sound rivals that of a much larger ensemble.
Thank you
