The first time I seen them, they actually opened for Skid Row, and I was a huge Skid Row fan and hadn't really heard too much from them, but goddamn they blew not only Skid Row away, but also my mind as well!
I never see Pantera live, because when i discover them was the 2001(their last year toguether and i only have 13 years old, one friend of my dad tell me about Pantera, on that time i listen to korn, Limp Bizkit, and linkin park when my dad´s friend put Pantera Vulgar Display of Power album in his car and Mouth for War (the first song on the album) start i was like wow!!!! How in the world a band can sound like this!!!!? they just blew my mind and open the door to some of the best years in my life listen to heavy music they became my favorite band until this days, they are so great and i love them!

I may have already recounted this on one of your other videos, but here goes: the first time I saw Pantera, I broke my thumb in the pit; the second time I saw Pantera I broke three ribs in the pit. And yet, I would not change a single thing, some of the craziest shows I ever saw.

Rex was a monster on bass. He had to be to keep up with the rest of the band.
Dime's huge talent combined with Phil's huge personality kinda overshadowed Rex and Vinnie, both super talented musicians in their own right. Just my opinion.

I was 15 in high school, a part of the PanterA Movement, seen 3 shows, been in 2 of the mosh pits, had seen both of the videos, had friends & family that met them but I didn't get to.
All of that when you was just a kid at 8 bruh ! 😆
I always thought the name of this album "Vulgar display of power" was one of the best and most accurate name for an album

I live in Chicago. I've seen pantera 9 times. I was at the show when they filmed the video for walk. Seeing them live was unlike any other concert I've seen.

I was lucky enough to see Pantera and Slayer open up for Black Sabbath talk about moshpit madness. 2 of the heavyweights of metal opening for the pioneers of metal.
That "emotion" you speak of is called SOUL... These boys all had southern soul and it came out in all of their music🤘
The album "Vulgar Display of Power" is my favorite album of all time. Great workout song.
I saw them back in 96 here in Australia with Biohazard. Never been to another concert like it. Dime brought a tray of whiskey shots out and shared them with the crowd and Phil was throwing beers into the crowd between songs. Fans stage diving, climbing things and diving into the crowd. Puffs of weed smoke going into the air everywhere you looked. I was 17 at the time and my first metal gig. Was intense.
Timzdametal Shihad was meant to be there as well but they weren’t able to make it. Still got my ‘96 Adelaide ticket!

I met Dimebag once at a hotel bar in the early 2000s. It was like 7 in the morning, and he was still piss drunk from the night before. I was stocking glassware for my upcoming lunch shift, and he stumbled over to me to get a drink. I instantly recognized him, and even though we were not open yet, I poured him a beer.
The dude was so hilarious. He kept cracking jokes and chugging beers, and I was so enthralled that I didn't realize how loud he had become. Apparently, people eating in the restaurant across the room complained about him to security and they sent someone over to calm him down.
The security person didn't know who he was, but she knew he was a celebrity. She asked him if he would mind keeping his voice down, and I will never forget what he told her.
Something to the tune of, "Lady, if I was a baby, you wouldn't say shit." And that was it. He didn't quiet down, and they didn't ask him again. RIP Dimebag; he was a real one.
My band was lucky enough to open for Pantera when they came through Tucson on the Vulgar Display Of Power tour. Cool guys, and the most insane pit you could ever imagine. I'm 53 now and haven't been in a pit for awhile, but back then it was pure aggression and adrenaline and NOT about inflicting pain. If someone fell down, you helped them up to keep the circular pit going. If some asshole was going the wrong way trying to hurt people, he'd soon regret it. Good times...
Well said. Most people think the Mosh Pit is about violence. It's not. It's about aggression. And yeah we would always help someone up. And unless it was a 7-foot monster going around the wrong way, they're usually out of there quick.
I'm with you on the energy of the music and the pit being so much fun - but nowadays it's not the same. I'm right behind you at 51, and seeing the vulgar and far beyond driven - you didn't try killing people in the pit - you helped them if they fell and rocked on - I've never experienced more energy than at a pantera concert - their music has helped me through many rough times in my life! R.I.P. Dime & Vinnie!
I saw Pantera 4 times live and met them once right after Far Beyond Driven came out in April 1996. This is the best metal band of all time. Their shows were awesome.
Saw Pantera 3 times. Amazing band. Once it was White Zombie, Pantera and Megadeth. AWESOME SHOW!!

I saw them play here in Phoenix on new years eve in 1998. They played with Soulfly, Slayer, Megadeth, and the headliner was the original lineup of Black Sabbath. Pantera was so loud, it made me physically ill. The crowd was fired up, and the mosh pits were truly scary. Best concert I've ever been to.
Which pits were more insane Slayer or Pantera? I've been to many shows and Slayer is usually the craziest.
@@Will_Wel both were insane. The fires didn't start until Pantera came on, though. During Pantera, people were leaping through these fires that were started with paper and water bottles. There were 3 or 4 big fires spread through the crowd.
New year's evil! I was there man. 20 years old. I still have the framed poster of that show on my wall! One of the greatest lineups ever. I still live here in phoenix. I was hugging the left rail at the front of the stage. I lost hearing in my left ear for a week after this show. Megadeth was insanely loud also and being litterally right in front of Dave's stack of Marshalls did not help lol
@@pleasuretokill yep! That was the show. I stayed back from the insanity. I went to that show with my wife. If I would have been alone, I would have gotten closer. That was the first and last concert they had there at the ballpark. Understandable, since the crowd tore that place up pretty badly haha

Saw pantera at ozzfest back in the 90's while being in the pit my body was sore for 3 days straight !! it was totally worth it!!!!!

I saw Pantera open for Skid Row when this album had just come out, and people were still learning about them. It helped that I lived in Texas... Love them to this day.
On stage/TV Phil is scary but in person he is the nicest guy in the world

I saw Pantera 4 times, got to hang out with Dime after a show once. Best shows I've ever been to in my life. the most brutal pits, just an insane experience all together.
I was there, many times was I lucky enough to catch Pantera live. Let me tell you this too about Pantera live, once you saw it once, you had to go back. The craziest show i ever saw was in the Norwood gardens annex in the early 90s. The promoters i assume, had passed out wristbands to the first few hundred people for a white zombie/pantera show. The wristbands granted you access to the front of the room near the stage where they had crowd control barricades set up and a few hundred seats set up for the early comers. There were two openings to this section with two Cincinnati cops standing there making sure that only those with wristbands gained access. I imagine that with the metal folding chairs near the stage they figured the could squash any attempts at a mosh pit or stage diving, they couldn't have been more wrong.
As the houselights came up after zombie and everyone up front started heading out for a beer or a piss, the rest of the crowd started gathering at those two entrances to the VIP early access section in front of the stage. There wasn't a wristband among them and they were all chanting rush the stage. In the face of thousands of rabid Pantera fans those four cops did what i expect any of us would do. After a minute or two they just walked away. What happened next was the single most efficient use of uncoordinated labor i have ever seen in all my years. Everyone in unison with no direction started to fold up these metal chairs, banded together in groups of five chairs each, and lifted them up on their shoulders. The five chair bundles were then crowd surfed in mass to the back of the room. They weren't carried there, they were passed overhead and dumped in giant unceremonious piles in the back!
What ensued after that was one of the loudest and dirtiest displays of live metal music this then young man had ever witnessed. When i say it was assault on your senses, I mean it literally blew you into next week. During Primal Concrete Sledge they used to time a strobe light to Vinny's bass drum so that for three minutes the venue would flash like some nightmarish haloween riot. Saw a guy getting ganged stomped by dozens of people near the beer lines that night. I dont know what he did to incur the wrath of the crowd, but i can tell you it must have been bad. When someone reached out to help him up after the beating had subsided, they pushed that guy's ass down and beat him too. Pantera was that kind of show, lots of aggression, crazy mosh pits, and lots of EMTs. I remember going home feeling washed clean in a way. The releasing of anger certainly can better any medicine under the sun!
I was lucky enough to see them here in the UK just once. Was everything I hoped for.
I met all the guys from Pantera a number of times & they are the nicest bunch of people you could ever wish to meet. Dime & Vinnie were the perfect hosts every time. They remembered me for each time we met & even when they formed Damageplan they made sure you were introduced to the other members. Every show was both brutal & unforgettable.
I used to listen to this song before hockey games in high school. Made me feel like busting through walls and come through the gate onto the ice READY

Dimebag is one of the greatest of all time and the one guy everyone hates on is Kerry King from Slayer. What most don't know is King helped Dime get his identity. You can see both King and Hanneman both in this solo. King is all about the bends and slides where Hanneman was more about scaling and fast seemingly out of control solos. Sadly King is the only one left.
I love Slayer solos. Their chaotic and tormented sounding riffs fit perfectly with the music and the vibe.
This is the first ever pantera song i ever heard at 13 years old and it blew my mind ive been a fan ever since dime is incredible

I was fortunate to have seen Pantera 2 or 3 times in the 90s (@Ozzfest & Metallica shows) . They are phenomenal live. I am a girl and was not into moshing but LOVED to see all the pits! I've also seen Phil's band, Down twice and another of his bands, Superjoint Ritual, once. Have seen Vinnie's other band, Hell Yeah about 4 times. RIP Dimebag and Vinnie.

I followed Pantera from Maine to Virginia. What a great summer that was. 97 or 98. My last Pantera show was special as they played with Slayer. Last time I saw Slayer too. Looking back now that Dime, Vin and Jeff are gone is sad but what a great memory that was. I dont know how many times I saw Pantera but I caught them on Far Beyond Driven tour up to Extreme Steel tour. Live shows are awesome because they do improvise and it's not a cookie cutter show. Tossing booze and beers in the crowd, bringing fans on stage etc. Seeing them open for Black Sabbath was awesome too in 97. I remember Phil saying "If we're the Kings of metal, then the Gods are up next".
I saw Pantera many time in the early 90s. One time in Houston at The Unicorn (basically a grocery store emptied out with a stage). The played a few songs and the PA system kept cutting out and losing power. So Phil turned the stage monitors around and continued the show. And on the last song he invited everyone on to the stage. We had a giant mosh pit on stage. Great times.
I saw Pantera countless times back in the day and was lucky enough to have been to call them friends of mine. They were a game changer when Metal was on a decline and influenced as well as inspired a whole new rise, interest and groove to Metal. If that makes sense

I lived in Texas for over 12 years between the ages of 16 and 28 or so. Saw these guys when they were playing local clubs (Dallas, Austin, San Antonio)- they were absolutely spectacular... I "sacrificed" my appendix to the mosh pit at a Sepultura show in Corpus Christi, TX lol but that didn't keep me out of the pit at Pantera shows!

I saw Pantera play in a club called Joe's garage in Fort Worth. Tiny place. Seen them a few times including New Years eve in 95 with C.O.C. The pits back then were ridiculous. Got to see Damageplan as well. That was the band Dimebag and Vinnie formed after Pantera broke up.

I got backstage passes from their bus driver when I worked at a hotel they were staying at in '96... I was 17...one of the best times ever... they were my favorite band then and now....ended up getting autographs from Vinnie and Rex❤️❤️❤️Also saw them at Ozzfest late 90's and rode the crowd...Best band EVER!!!!! So lucky to have been a teen in the 90's

Saw them in Philly @ The Spectrum in '94. 2 songs in, Phil waved the crowd in from the nose bleeders. Like a swarm of ants, 17,000 crazy headbangers converged into a massive pit in about 30 seconds flat. One of the craziest shows I've ever been to! Gotta check out 'Becoming' & 'Use My Third Arm' plus 'A New Level' & 'Regular People (Conceit)'. Pantera's perfect combination of power grooves & self-empowerment lyrics are unmatched, probably forever!

I was lucky enough to see them on the CowboysFH tour with Exodus and Suicidal. They hadn't even put the album out yet. I remember Phil crowd surfing and some dumb girl who wasn't into them just pulling on his long Mohawk. She pulled a large lock of hair from his head. I thought he was gonna kill her but the show came first. Great concert, great memory

I saw Pantera live in 1995 at the Mercer Arena in Seattle. They were touring for the Far Beyond Driven album, and they were incredible! I was a 19 year old metalhead with a bunch of buddies and it was great to see a band that came to CONQUER an arena! Phil was a great frontman who connected everyone in the crowd together, and was adamant that even if you were fucking shit up in the pit (which were EPIC), you still looked out for each other and helped each other up if you fell, etc... It was a COMMUNITY and it showed a lot about those dudes as PEOPLE. Still one of the best metal shows I've ever seen, and I cherish the memory of being there and seeing Dime and Vinnie in their prime. RIP to the Brothers Abbott, and great channel, bro! You got a new sub, and keep up the hard core metal reactions! Getcha Pull! ☠️
Last time I saw Pantera was in 1997 in Mesa, AZ. By far, one of the HEAVIEST shows I have ever seen.

So it's a year removed but still... Pantera is the most amazing thing to happen to me musically as a kid. From Dallas Texas I connected not only to their music but also their personalities. One thing I always thought was interesting was their hand in denting the Stanley Cup after the Stars won it in 99 🤣🤣🤣

Was on a megadeth concert in 92 with pantera as warm up band. Had never heard of them before.
Had eaten some shrooms and I was literally nailed to the wall.
Since then pantera was my all time favourite band.
The live shows are exaclike that video. Their emotions come thru their instruments into us and we send the energy back to them. No other band was lime PANTERA. STRONGER THAN ALL
Your right my friend, a Pantera show is pure aggression. I've seen them three times. I saw them play at a show in Pittsburgh at a small venue called Metropol one time... the band allowed us to climb up on the stage, mosh around and stage dive. Insane. So much energy. Brutal pit. I woke up bruised and battered but it was so worth it! Another time, me and a friend went around to the back of a venue, I think it was AJ Polumbo Center in Pittsburgh, and Dimebag, Phil, and Vinnie were hanging out back there. We talked with them a bit...so f@#king cool. I remember thinking, how awesome is it that Phil talks as raspy as he sings! That was like 18 or so years ago. The hair on my arms still stand up every time I hear the opening of Mouth For War.

Saw Pantera about a dozen times, always brutal pits. Most memorable was at the Marquee Charing Cross Rd on a real hot summer night. Stage diving was the norm but two guys took it further, one climbed the PA and dived into the pit. He was then upstaged by some nut job who dived from the circle balcony above into the crowd below! The venue was two inches deep in beer and sweat ran down the walls by the end.

@@TheAdventuresofTNT No, I suspect the guys who he fell on weren't too happy though. There were bloody noses, lost teeth and guys leaving in slings on arms or limping off home though. Another group that had brutal pits were Biohazard, New York Hardcore metal at its finest.

I saw them 5 times live, the first being at a private party in the mid-80's before they had an album. But when I saw them in Dallas in 1993, that was the most intense show I've ever been to and I have really been to a lot. Basically 2nd row general admission and believe me, I got pummeled by all the stage divers. But I would not move from my spot, or rather spots since it was impossible to stay in one exact place. But while every show was extreme in every way, you could not deny the musicianship. I don't know how many G.O.A.T.S. you've seen in person no matter what the career, but there is something otherworldly that happens with me as if I'm witnessing a spirit or someone not real and that's how it was with Dimebag. He was the coolest looking guy and what an unbelievable talent. It always amazes me when guitar players play such aggressive music but can still hit the notes. I mean. I just love Pantera.

I seen them in a small club when COWBOYS FROM HELL came out in 1990. The entire band walked right by me. I wanted to get dimes autograph. But thought they'd think it was too dumb. So I didnt. I regret it. Phil walked by in a leather jacket and hunched over, like a bad ass. Lol. The show was like going to the gym. Incredible. Pure intensity.
Just found this, I saw Pantera in 1994 on the Far Beyond Driven tour with Type O Negative, i'll just say it was at Saltair just west of Salt Lake City, it's 2 levels, when Type O played the pit was up by the front of the stage, when Strength Beyond Strength started, the entire building was one big pit, downstairs, upstairs, even back by the bathrooms, it spilled out the side doors, you didnt have a choice, you had to mosh, or you'd simply be ran down and trampled, Phil had to stop the show twice, once because somebody got trampled and they werent breathing, then another time cause somebody got stabbed and the floor had so much blood on it that people were slipping and falling and getting trampled in the blood, it was fucking insane, not the hardest pit ive ever been in, but by far the biggest, and ive seen one or two shows.
With a lot of singers, especially metal. A good amount of times one would be surprised at seeing the singer live, or in a video, like it just doesn't match. With Phil, there was never a question. Phil, every one once seeing him is all, yup, that's the guy with this voice. No questions asked.
You have to watch the Pantera Home Video, 3 Vulgar Videos!! It does a great job of showing who they were. I remember being at a show in San Francisco in the early 90’s in a club and Dime had to take a shit bad so the guitar tech put a bucket out sidestage, he dropped trow, and he took a shit without missing a note. I will remember that to my grave, and I will never forget standing in front of him while he was soloing. One of the Goats for sure. Welcome to the family🤘🏼

I grew up going to the clubs in the Dallas Fort Worth area and saw Pantera so many times live long before they hit it big. I was actually at the club the time they shot their Cowboys From Hell video and you can see me briefly as they panned the crowd. I was proud to call Dime and Vinny my friends and very devastated by both of their deaths. RIP Brothers!

bro....1993 maybe 94, Seattle...Pantera /White Zombie tour. Pantera was THE OPENING BAND....Yeah....it was BEFORE they became that absolute kings of 90's metal bands.........they open with this song....im 19, fucking nervous but amped bro....I just jump over the crowd in front of me.....totally "swim" right to the stage...BAM..I slam into DIMEBAG'S Mic knock it down...stand up....run around the stage and touch phils head while he is in mid scream....I jump into to the pit........my FIRST Pantera show of MANY. Dude they were FUCKING FIRE......LIVE MAN..I cannot even covey the energy.........best live show ever.
Pantera will always be one of the heaviest Thrash/Metal bands to ever exist.
I am 51 years old now and grew up right in the prime of this genre. In addition to Pantera, there was Slayer, Death, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, etc.
Your review is the BEST one I have seen so far. You let the song play out and comment along the way instead of pausing it 20 times like others which completely ruins the song.
Finally, you asked about concert experiences....... I saw Pantera at the Roseland ballroom (NYC) in 1994. It was a magical scene, and the room was CRANKED! But you know what the best thing about that night was? There were probably 500 of us young, testosterone-juiced metalheads crammed in that tiny venue, and there were TWO black kids that showed up. Yes, two black guys in that sea of white metal-loving "maniacs".
Those two guys were the HIT of the entire show. I am sure they both went home sore that night, but not because of moshing or stage diving. It was because of all the slaps on the back and bear hugs they received for being there with us!
I look back at those times and that music as something that brought us ALL together. Just like it should be today........................

On the first cowboys tour, the club was utterly packed ! The club owner, fire dept, cops, could not, dared not, shut it down, though they tried from the back of the crowd, but realized it was far from possible, as Phil told them to fuck off, and just try to take him ! I’ve never seen anything like it before, or since, and I was a professional metal guitarist from 79-2001. The whole club was super active. Not one person was standing still ! The air was barely breathable due to lack of oxygen. Nonstop stage diving, and after the show, the cops stood way back because the entire crowd was still pumped up. Avoiding a mass riot ! The best show I have ever seen, bar none ! So I knew I just had to party with these guys, and did many times.

Super empowering ! Pantera was an anomaly ! No one even comes close ! That’s really saying a lot coming from me. They are still my go to band in the car, or partying, lol, which honestly, isn’t that often these days, lol !
