By far the absolute best MAX Lens Mod 2.0/stock lens comparison video yet!

So does the 12 shoot in 9x16 without the added lens mod? I'll be shooting close range gym workout footage mostly so I don't think I need it. Plus I wonder if the 12 will fit in the Ulanzi cage mount with that bigger lens attached.

Yes, just turn the GoPro12 sideways for the 9x16 aspect ratio. You can find all the aspect ratios here as well in a lot more detail; rb.gy/zm4sd7
You don't need the MOD for gym shots (plenty wide enough) using some of the other modes. Not sure about the last question though....

Thanks for the video, it was really informative. Did you notice that the Max Lens footage looks much softer compared to without? Not to mention the extreme edges are very badly smeared. I dont recall it looking this bad on my max lens mod 1.0. I think they could improve the lens quality more on the 2.0 to get optimal image quality

Obviously, there is a lot of warping around the edges. Hard to say if it's 'softer' or not...it's just more distorted around the edges. You can still play around with the footage in GoPro Player and the various aspect ratios to clean it up a bit more...so many different settings and variables it's hard to say with any certainty. Thanks for watching!

Can you make the same comparison between 8:7 and 4:3?

I use the Hero 12 with the Max Lens Mod 2.0 mainly on the motorcycle also for horizon leveling. However, after about an hour, due to the heat, condensation forms in the lens and makes my images unusable.

Great video! I have a question about the aperture of the max lens mod 2.0. I'm planning to shoot some night sky timelapses, this would be great for it! Can you tell me what the aperture value of the mod is? So does it let in the same amount of light as the standard lens, more or less? Cheers!

To the best of my knowledge the GoPro12 black uses the following; Sensor Size =: 1/1.9″, Aperture = f/2.5. The Max Lens Mod 2.0 has no influence over aperture. It's just giving you a much wider field of view dependent on your settings. GoPro also just released a new firmware update (vs2.0) the other day which adds more features to the Max Lens Mod 2.0 as well. Personally, I've not tested for night sky time- lapses but my thoughts are it should work great for that.

@@RGMGFitness Thanks for your response, I agree. Should probably have no effect on the aperture and an interesting option for shooting wide landscape nighttime timelapses!
