Loved this video! I rescued a Christmas cactus about 15 years ago from Walmart garden center and it is thriving. I always buy the sickly plants and nurse them back to health.
I do the same thing!! Rescued a pony tail palm from Walmart. It's happy now!! 😁
Your videos help me so much. Your knowledge is trustworthy. From plants, budgeting, organization, beauty... everything. Thank you for being such a quality content creator.
You’re the sweetest to your plants.
I love pony tail palms, so glad to see this one rescued! 🌱😀
I just love your plant collection, and that you share your wisdom about them. I have 2 ponytail palms that I've had since around 2001. They are in a 16" pot and they are so long; the pot is on a stool that's about 3 1/2' high and it drapes down to the floor! I never knew what kind of plant they were until I saw your videos. I love learning about the plants from you. :)
Thank you. 😊This video was very helpful. I received a ponytail palm from my coworkers for my birthday. Within a month all of the leaves have fallen off. I checked the roots for root rot. Everything looked good, no pest or anything. I changed out the soil and repotted it back into its nursery pot. Sadly my palm has not recovered and it’s been about 2 -3 months now. I did not want to throw it away because it was so nice when I received it. Thanks to your video I see that I have to cut the “trunk” and hopefully some new growth will come out! 🤞🏾
That was a great video! That pony tail is like: Yaass...I have a new home and new plant friends to hang out with!! I'm so like pony tail HAPPY!!! YAY!! 🤗👍🙏😂❤
Who are the two topangas that gave this great video a thumbs down😡. I love your videos-Been watching your transformation for a long time and you have just blossomed.❤️
Thanks for the video! I have two that got exposed to snow and cold. I will remove all foliage and cut back trunk until I only see green. I hope it works out.
Thank you for this! I had a beautiful ponytail palm, it grew really big and mature...but my parents left it out in an unheated greenhouse this winter. I've taken it home and put it in the bedroom, but sadly it has lost all of its leaves. But I will try this, and hope it will grow some new ones back in spring.
So maternal to the plants and pets and animals. Love you! Happy new year!
Great video! What kind of soil you recommend for such plants? Thanks!!
Thank you for the wood glue tip. Never new that!! New subbie here
Hi, I hope you see this. It's been years since you posted this video but I did a search on trimming ponytail palms. I've had one I bought from a yard sale about 10 years ago. It was chest high and is now over 9 feet. I put it outside every summer where it seems to grow another 10 inches. We're going to. E building a new home with vaulted ceilings but It will be in 2 years. So here's my dilemma. My current house has only 8 foot ceilings. It has to be inside during our winters (Northern Arkansas). I don't want to give it away, and there is no where else to put it. I have been trying to come up with ideas for months now. There is truly no where else I can put it. The garage is not heated, and I don't believe grow lights would be enough all winter. Here is my question. Would it be alright if I trimmed about 1 1/2 feet off the top? That would essentially be removing almost all the growth it has had over the last 2 years. This would buy me time until our new house is built. I wish there was a way for me to show you a picture of it. Anyway, It would be the softer new fresh top leaves that have sprouting up and out of the very top and fountained over. What do you think? Thanks!
Id trim the roots and repot in a smaller pot... Let it sit sideways in the house etc. Insulate the garage but don't cut the top
Oh my god you should model with your hands, such beautiful hands! Great video, just purchased a Ponytail that had been mistreated and forgotten. Hope to save it with some TLC.
The base of the ponytail palm looks so cool, like an elephant foot.
Aw I'm another Ponytail palm owner/lover. Thanks for sharing.
I have had these plants but didn't know what they were called, easy to grow!always cut off the dead until you see green, defiantly re pot it,take off the dead leaves
WOW! She’s huge!!!!!!! How did she make out? Is there an update video?
Yay! Michael and Christine video!!! 👍✌️❤️
Hello, what is the name of the product that you put to seal the upper part of the trunk?
These are my favorite plants! Thank you for doing this video!!!
Great to see you this morning! More Vlogs please! 😻
Hi!!! I have a question, the center of my pony tail palm leaves have started to curl and harden and thus some leaves have started to crease.after reading online I’m guessing it could be because it didn’t have enough light so I moved to next to a giant window. The leaves changed from pale yellow/light green to a darker green now but should I cut off the crested leaves or keep them? They haven’t turned brown but I looks like the areas where it is hardening is where I may have scorched them when I forgot about it in full sunlight outside and moved it back inside
I'm in the Pensacola FL area and I FORGOT to move my sweet old pony tail inside last week for the 19degree drop. The crown of all 4 pony tail's (I don't know what to call them :) are now drooping. I know they are dying. I found you by searching for frost damaged pony tails. So, do I cut them all now? It is inside my garden room/porch. We will have another 22 degree drop next 2 days. It's in about a 60 degree room. I did spray with Capt Jacks Copper Fungicide one time. It said to wait 10 days before treating again if I do treat it again.
This video was very informative. How long have you been studying and rescuing plants? You really know your stuff
You teach us so much about plants!
Wonderful! Thank you! I have one outside , next to house , under eaves covered it w cheesecloth, over the cheese cloth plastic , it froze. Tiny shoots coming out now. Do I leave alone? Scuff bulb to stimulate ? Fertilize? No? Also what's is the paste u put on top of cinnamon? Thank you!❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing your knowledge Christine!! I love your plant videos ❤️🌿🌵🌱
Love all your videos but especially love your vegan what I eat in a day and different vegan restaurants you visit. Another youtuber went to a vegan restaurant in Brisbee, AZ. The town looked really cute for a day trip visit. Could you do more vegan related videos? Thanks.
I just rescued one, the top is rotten I think long ago so now the inside seems kind of hard. Should I still cut off the whole thing to create a new wound or just seal it off?
You're so knowledgeable! I wish you could come save my peace lily. I don't know why it's dying 😭
Maybe too much light?
FairlyWild peace Lily’s need tons of 💦 they suck the soil dry.., maybe that?
I tried moving it to a room with less light and watering twice a week instead of one but there's no change
I think peace lilies need humility. In winter the air is dryer because of running the heater. Try a humidifier or putting plant in the bathroom.
@@andreamonique8125 yeah I agree. Misting the leaves with water is also a good idea. As is reppotting around March time and giving them food once a month :)
I love these plant videos❤ I learn so much! And you've literally saved my Aloe plant
I was given a ponytail, it had little little leaves but it was strong in the pot . What can I do to nature it to bring the leaves back. It is inside. I so happy to have this new baby. Help me save her please
I just rescued a pony tail palm from Lowe’s, and I repotted it since it had grown. Now I hear to wait a few days before watering it. Is this true? Also it’s leaning to one side, is this ok? It does not bother me since it’s pretty. When I water it do I make sure to get it wet to the bottom? I also notice it seems loose in the pot, should I change it?
Thank you for this informative video!!!
Thank you so much for this video! I have a ponytail palm and I’m afraid it’s too cold for him where I live; I’m from Ohio and I keep him indoors but I’m still a bit nervous about the winter. Any tips? Also please make a video when you do repot your ponytail- it would help me a lot!
Great video! Thanks! If I cut the top off of my pony tail palm, will the chopped part grow roots and be repotted? I inherited mine and it's quite tall...almost 5 feet tall. TYVM!
I just inherited a pony tail palm and it has two babies that the previous owner says needs to be cut off. Don't know about that? It's about 9 feet tall with two small babies coming out of the stock on the side.
I live in Texas just got mine off Amazon a few weeks ago it’s coming apart from pony tail? Any idea I’m not over watering
Hi Christine, I received a poney tail palm and it’s infested with mealy bugs, the leaves are terrible. Can I remove all the leaves and have new leaves grow back. The stem is very hard no rot. I love the plant and don’t want to loose it. Please help.
I hear alot about overwatering and I've had mine a long time it stays outside year round in a huge pot it's well over 6 ft. Tall and it gets alot of water unintentional of course but here in Pensacola Florida it rains all the time and I think I get away with it because it drains very well the pot has a lava rock false bottom that's why I think drainage is the problem not water , the pot must drain well however my bulb or the foot isn't HUGE like most and that's probably from overwatering
Hi Christine...I live in Southern California and I have a ponytail palm in a pot in my backyard. I moved to a new home in March 2018 and the palm is now exposed to full sun most of the day. It promptly turned a much lighter green than it used to be. I’m assuming it needs repotting with new soil and nutrients. What do you think could be the reason for the light foliage and what type of fertilizer and soil should I use? Thanks!
Wow I love how much I learned from your videos that was excellent information I would’ve never known cinnamon and glue. I hope we get to see more videos soon! Miss seeing you more frequently videos
Oh yay! A video! Will watch when I get off work! Thank you 😍
Nicely done.
Love these plants. Going to get one now💕
My favorite plants. Never saw them til moving to AZ.
Good plant, and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
That was really interesting Christine. 🌵
what did they charge for that plant that needed rescue?
I just purchased a ponytail palm, when i went to repot it, I broke apart the soil and found barely any roots and a hole on the underside of the caluex bulb. Pre existing root rot/ then completely bone dry im guessing.
Can it be saved??
It's still beautiful!
What if the ponytail palm tree are planted in the ground(?). How do we protect them (over 12 feet) from cold weather, n how cold is too cold for them?
I love your videos !!! Your so knowledgeable on plants and crystals !!! Love it !! Please make a video soon on how often you water and feed your plants !! So awesome 😎
In Tucson, do you leave them outside in the hot summer and the cold winter?
I bought this plant from someone that had it potted up in a 20 inch ceramic pot with only one stem, it's a big plant. Since I brought it home I did lift it from the pot to see how root bound it was and I had to add a little soil to it which i kept in the same pot and I also watered it right after. The lower leaves on the stem are browning up and falling the new leaves on top are looking great but the stem is starting to look more bare, is that normal? I dont water it till its bone dry and than I still wait another week before I do it's on my deck with full sunlight, any idea why its losing leaves rapidly?
My top got eaten and is now rotting. Do I use this same method? Mine has only one shoot though. It's about two feet tall. Please help! Thank you!
Wow...idk that...im learning so much on your channel...thanks for sharing
I can’t find your video on repotting this Ponytail palm?! Did I miss it?
So interesting! Thanks for the info. I'm struggling to save to money plants, we had a bad leak in our house several months ago and have had constant work being done and I've tried to keep my plants protected until this last step , the contractors sealed of several areas in our home to paint , i kept my two money plants in other rooms and we left for two days and I came home and they look awful, leaves totally discolored and slowly dying, a few tiny , tiny sprouts left. Does anyone have suggestions, they were both so healthy!!!!
Loved your video. Thank you
I got one has very little roots but leaves are all dried up can I save it? If so how?
I loved this video so much! Definitely keep the plant videos coming hehe Happy New Year!
I cant find anything online. Please - What do I do if my ponytail palm has a hole in its base? Is it no good? Can I save the offshoots and re-pot them after rooting in water?
I have a ponytail palm plant and all the leaves have dried off of it and the trunk of it is softening can I use this treatment to bring it back someone help me please. 💜SYG
I have Three shoots coming off of my palm that I would like to harvest and put into their one pots. How do I do that?
That’s my favorite plant. Pony tail palm.
How do you encourage leaves growth? I have one and my cats ate all of the leaves :(
ell I need help ....the caudex on my pony tail palm shrunk from one side. The caudex is hard and the leaves look healthy.
Any suggestions for why my large Ponytail Palm's leaves started to bend and fall down into the rest of the leaves? Was doing great and started to do this. Thanks.
I am new with plants and got this little ponytail plant but seems it is not going to make it. It is very skinny and feel soft all over. No wonder why they gave me a discount for it :(
So what is the best soil for ponytail palms. I have one I need to transplant?
Thanks,
Thanks for tthis information

I was told to water mine with a half cup of water every 2 weeks. Needless to say, the bottom now has issues. Can I cut out the rot happening in the bottom and treat it the same as you did here? Thanks!
Same, mine has black at the bottom and I have been searching everywhere to find out how to treat it 😢

Will these work indoors in South Texas? I'm looking to expand my pet safe palm collection.
Yes, I have one and I'm in Central Texas! But I put mine outside the other day for the first time and a squirrel got a hold of it so be mindful of that!
Can you please do a video when you do repot it please @christinekobzeff
