  • In this video, we deep dive into the story of Rizpah, concubine of King Saul, and her devotion to her two sons. After Saul's death, King David found himself obligated to execute 7 of Saul's children, including Rizpah's children, in order to amend relations with the Gibeonites and alleviate the famine and drought that struck Israel for 3 years. Rizpah, as a devoted mother, will react in the most emotional way that will make her known through history.

God doesn't bless tyranny. Just because the Israelites were God's chosen did not give them the right to be evil. God will remove his protection from his followers who makes the choice to do evil. The Nation of Israel also made the decision to have a human king so his hateful decision put them in the line of fire to be punished with him. The drought was God's punishment until they rectify Saul's and those who plotted with him crime against humanity. The hanging of Saul's offspring was the Gibeonites decision not God's but he did not protect them because of this slaughter of the Gibeonites.

Just because the Israelites had God's favor of being his people didn't give them the right to bully or oppress the Gibeonites. Without consulting GOD first , Joshua made a treaty with the Gibeonites to offer protection. This happened around the time after the fall of Jericho. This treaty was bounding.

We do not know their ages. They may have been old enough to have been in the army under Saul, but they could not have been responsible for the crimes for which they died. The other five were the children of King David’s wife’s sister. Why he would have chosen all the sons of just two women seems vindictive on David’s part, but who knows. We are not told the motives of King David.

Rizpah, King Saul's concubine, had two sons by him, named Mephibosheth (not Saul's grandson Mephibosheth through Jonathan) and Armoni, in which they were NOT innocent as the narrator says, but were complicit in murdering the Gibeonites.
At 2 Samuel 21, it clears this up, saying: "Now there was a famine in the days of David for three consecutive years, so David consulted Jehovah (God's name, see Isa 12:2, KJV), and Jehovah said: “There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his HOUSE, because he put the Gibʹe·on·ites to death.”
"So the king called the Gibʹe·on·ites and spoke to them. (Incidentally, the Gibʹe·on·ites were not Israelites but Amʹor·ites who remained, and the Israelites had sworn to spare them, but Saul sought to strike them down in his (nationalistic) zeal for the people of Israel and Judah.)"
"David said to the Gibʹe·on·ites: “What should I do for you, and how can I make atonement, so that you will bless the inheritance of Jehovah ?” The Gibʹe·on·ites said to him: “It is not a matter of silver or gold (or money) for us in connection with Saul and his household; nor can we put any man to death in Israel (having no authority to do so).” At that he said: “Whatever you say, I will do for you.”
"They said to the king: “The man (King Saul) who exterminated us and schemed to annihilate us from living anywhere in the territory of Israel-let seven of his sons (who either helped Saul murder the Gibeonites or gave active support to his wicked "cause", being full of hate, as Saul was, who even attempted to kill innocent David over about ten years until he committed suicide when battling the Philistines, 1 Samuel 18:1-11; 31:1-6) be given to us. We will hang their dead bodies before Jehovah in Gibʹe·ah of Saul, the chosen one of Jehovah.” The king then said: “I will hand them over.”(2 Sam 21:1-6)
Saul and his "house" or descendants, played a role in murdering the Gibeonites (who were Ammonites), apparently over perhaps some 73 years (or after 2 years into Saul's reign, 1 Sam 13:1, 13, 14, through 38 years to the end of Saul's reign, 1115-1078 B.C.E. + some 35 years into David's reign, 1077-1042 B.C.E.), with Saul "starting it" and his two sons through Rizpah, Mephibosheth and Armoni, and five grandsons through his daughter Merab "finishing it".
Apparently Merab died not long after her 5th child was born and her younger sister Michal came in and raised them as her own (2 Sam 21:8), so that they absorbed Michal's suspicious character and hatred that she acquired from her father Saul (in which it could be said "like father, like daughter", and "like father, like son" or "grandson", passing "down the line" the suspicious, murderous intent of Saul, in which that is EXACTLY what politics does to anyone involved in it).
Michal taught them (who were apparently grown, for some 45 years had passed since Merab was given to David as wife, but replaced with Michal when Merab had already been given as a wife to Adriel, 1 Sam 18:17-19, and not many years later, Merab apparently dies after her 5th child is born, perhaps by the time David becomes king in 1077 B.C.E.) to be like their grandfather Saul, full of hatred and murderous intent for anyone not an Israelite, so they were deserving of death.(2 Sam 21:2; see 2 Sam 6:16, 20, that shows Michal despising David and calling David "empty-headed" when he danced before some slave girls upon the arrival of the Ark of the covenant in Jerusalem from Baalejudah)
The Bible encyclopedia Insight on the Scriptures makes this comment: "Throughout the centuries, the original Gibeonites continued to exist as a people, although King Saul schemed to destroy them. The Gibeonites, however, patiently waited on Jehovah to reveal the injustice. This he did by means of a three-year famine in David’s reign."
"Upon inquiring of Jehovah and learning that bloodguilt was involved, David interviewed the Gibeonites to ascertain what should be done to make atonement. The Gibeonites rightly answered that it was not “a matter of silver or gold,” because, according to the Law, no ransom could be accepted for a murderer. (Nu 35:30, 31) They also recognized that they could not put a man to death without legal authorization."
"Therefore, not until David’s further questioning did they request that seven “sons” of Saul be handed over to them. The fact that bloodguilt was upon both Saul and his household suggests that, although Saul probably took the lead in the murderous action, the “sons” of Saul may directly or indirectly have shared in it. (2Sa 21:1-9) In that event this would not be a case of sons dying for the sins of their fathers (De 24:16) but would involve the administration of retributive justice in harmony with the law “soul will be for soul (or "life for life").”-De 19:21."(Vol 1, pg 932)

    • @timhaley3459
      @timhaley3459 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@samuelbongcayao3733
You are welcome. The Gibeonites requested that seven "sons" of Saul (or his male descendants) be given to them for their participation in murdering them over a period of decades, while of the sons of Haman, they did not murder Mordecai or any of his relatives, but were apparently in agreement with their father and mother in hanging Mordecai on a stake (Esther 5:12-14), so that they too were hung on stakes at King Ahasuerus command.(Esther 9:25)
Due to family "indoctrination", sons will defend their parents even if wrong (and not what is just or right), such as at Genesis 31:1, in which Laban's sons condemned Jacob, though innocent (see verses 5-13), saying that "Jacob has taken everything that belonged to our father, and from what belonged to our father, he has amassed all this wealth".(Gen 30:43)
Or family members will at times defend their guilty relatives, such as Shimei, "a man of the family of Saul's house", cursing David and calling him blood guilty (though innocent) as he was leaving Jerusalem when David's son Absalom formed a coup against his father to take over the kingship, even to the point of killing his father.(2 Sam 16:5-8; 17:1-4)
So, it is as with the nation of ancient Israel with its corrupt city of Jerusalem (in which modern day Israel with its city of Jerusalem has not changed, compare Matt 23:33-39), whereby Jehovah God told Ezekiel in about 612 B.C.E.:
"The error of the house of Israel and Judah is very, very great. The land is filled with bloodshed, and the city is full of corruption. For they say, ‘Jehovah has left the land, and Jehovah is not seeing.’ But as for me, my eye will not feel sorry; nor will I show compassion. The consequences of their way (or wicked thoughts and actions) I will bring down on their OWN head (when King Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Judah with its city of Jerusalem by 607 B.C.E., 2 Kings 25:1-10).”(Eze 9:9, 10)
And due to nationalistic "indoctrination", citizens of one nation will be zealous for killing others who are not "their kind" or nationality.(see 2 Sam 21:2) But true Christians do as Micah 4:1-5 states, having "beaten their swords into plowshares" and learn to do as Jesus said at Matthew 5:43-45:
"You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you, so that you may prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens."
And one final point, is that true Christians, even when there are wrongs committed (as against us and has no real resolution), does not take matters into their own hands, for David wrote at Psalms 37: "Keep silent before Jehovah and wait expectantly for him (see Prov 29:26). Do not be upset by the man who succeeds in carrying out his (wicked) schemes. Let go of anger and abandon rage; Do not become upset and turn to doing evil."
"For evil men will be done away with, but those hoping in Jehovah will possess the earth. Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, and they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace......forever."(Ps 37:7-11, 29)

God the Father keeps no record of sin, because God the Son saved us from our sins through His death, and the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sins. Even when our generation is cursed by the sins of our ancestors, Jesus has the power to free us from that evil when we seek Him, while those who only believe in karma are ALWAYS more likely to face condemnation because nobody is perfect.

Like the death of Jesus, The death of the victims in such a gruesome manner brought peace. The English text almost makes it look like God approves of the horrible events but that isn’t the case (notice that even in the English versions God does not command this to happen. If it really happened and isn’t just a story with a deep spiritual message then God used this event to make a point.

Saul took it upon himself to kill the Gibeonites when they had received grace from God and they had a pact with the Israelites to keep peace. The dead of Saul’s descendants fall on Saul himself for disobeying God. Why God allowed it, maybe the answer is what we see now with the moslem descendants trying to kill the Jews.

      - David asked God why was there a drought, and God gave him the answer: basically, man's lying, betrayal, murdering, unforgiveness, and vengefulness (sums it up).
      - David turned around and did the SAME THING (David does not escape reaping, throughout his life...).
      - What lifted the drought WAS NOT David's participation in that sacrifice, BUT *the actions after* - David, respectfully, gathering the bones of Saul and his murdered decedents (and honorably burying them: an action of penitence, forgiveness and love! *2 Samuel 21 : 14*

Didn't that same God said the children must not die for the fathers (parents sin?). And vice versa. Did God then lie and/or went back on his word? Same difference.

Well, that's basic and perfectly valid proof of the evil of being God's favorite: to the point that nobody who's ever been endorsed by any "god" is to be *permitted to live*, solely because of *this* kind of intrinsically wicked dynasty that God Himself has said He endorses; thus solid proof of God's evil personality in His basic nature!

Saul made a covenant with the Gibeonites under God and Saul broke the covenant and the gibeonites wants justice coz Saul murdered thousands of gibeonites and this is the result of breaking a covenant especially God is the witness, it’s best to read the Bible and understand it spiritually and God bless you.

@@chriszekableyat9886 Well, then we have to rightly conclude that since God's selected ruler broke the treaty, God is a devil *Himself* WHILE at the same time being 'god"; solely by the antimoral conduct He endorsed by His agents carrying it out.
Plus, punishing innocents: that's yet more proof of God's evil nature, as only a thoroughly evil god could ever endorse such an attrocity as He clearly has endorsed!
Nobody remotely moral could ever worship, not once, not ever, and by worshipping, one is forever excluded from being able to be good, due solely to these events!

Since one nation had God's favor, does not give them the right to oppress or bully other nations. Saul also did not have GOD'S approval to attack this nation whom JOSHUA made a covenant to protect the Gibeonites. Neither Joshua nor Saul consulted God first but relied on their own decisions.

@@dtyallen9864 No, *you're* in the sound dimension of reason: in fact: any abuse and/or bullying really does automatically disqualify His anointed from any authority at all- *iff* His anointed has either ordered it or in any way endorsed it.
To have God's blessing in the viewpoint of those days: any kind of endorsement, really does have funky effects: it is *responsibility*, not "liscence" at all, in fact: the latter does not and never did exist... but it *does* have the effect of you being responsible for *every. single. thing* your men do, as that's rightfully logically something you endorse; unless you're observed to both publically and sincerely denounce it as morally wrong.

@Nate-qk6sm Actually: no, His agents' actions *are* His actions, especially where they're *immoral* actions... and no, the reality of that kind of a "god" is complete nonsense: due precisely to the commands to engage in *completely antimoral behaviors* written into the very laws He Himself gave, such as Deut 22.22, which mandates the penalty for adultery to be the killing of the pregnant mom, and thus of the innocent baby/babies, since that *completely diametrically contradicts* Leviticus; we know that God is either incompletent, and/or wicked, and/or careless- either way: He is unable to be worshipped due to *commanding evil* to be done to innocents!
*I* do not care one bit, not the tiniest bit, if *I* like it or not: He has forever severed Himself from being able to be good by the regulations He laid out.

The OT shows us how ugly things can be in contrast to what falling into alignment of God's love brings through the crucifixtion of Christ.
OT in Proverbs 6:31 states that if a thief is caught, they must pay back 👉 seven times what they stole...
In this case the offspring of Saul represents the death endured at the hands of Saul.
However in the NT in Matthew 18:21-22, where Peter asks Jesus how many times he should forgive his brother when he sins against him. Jesus replies, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times”.
The hearts of men were wicked but now the hearts of God's people are cleansed and recline on the breast of Jesus in a state of fogiveness.
