If you ask me, Absolam did a good thing to get revenge. Who in their right mind would not seek revenge for something like that. David's inaction is unfortunately born from guilt. He had Uriah killed so that he could take his wife. Amnon's heinous action mirrors his father's past deed perfectly. David may have been a man after God's own heart but he failed as both a father and a husband. David's failure as a father is due to the fact that his own father, Jesse completely rejected and ignored him and a person who grows up in such an environment will not know the first thing about how to be father to their own children.

He had husbands killed to take their wives ?
He's in the service of the Devil
that the Books of the Old Testament do not concern us at all, because we observe the new sacraments and no longer preserve the old
They base their complaint on the fact that we do not circumcise the foreskin of the male, and we eat the flesh of animals which the Law declares unclean, and we do not observe the Sabbath, new moons and their festival days in a purely human way, nor do we offer sacrifice to God with victims of cattle, nor do we celebrate the Pasch. Christ is our Pasch; our unleavened bread is sincerity of truth without the leaven of decay.
St Augustine’s Tractatus adversus Judaeos (Treatise against the Jews) is probably unfamiliar to most of us. This short work - a homily, or a pamphlet - is printed in the Patrologia Latina vol. 42, cols 51-64.[1

David’s previous adulterous, murderous sins made him act like a terrible father in this scene. He couldn’t do anything because he himself felt like a hypocrite. Remember he committed an immoral act for desiring Bathsheba, getting her pregnant, lying about it and then having her husband killed, and then taking her as one of her wives. He was punished for that, and it was only just beginning. He strives to be a good king after that and repented, but now he is seeing a similar act of sinfulness within his children. One son defiles his half sister, another son kills the son at fault for it out of vengeance and justice for the sister. For David, as a father, it’s like seeing his own sins reflected in his children. The cycle continues and he could no longer be a fatherly role model and example to his children because of his previous sins. He was no longer a respected father and even after this incident, any chance of solving the qualms of his children proved fruitless. Even if he was forgiven, the consequences of his actions followed him even after the end of his reign. The damage was done. Had he proved himself a more faithful, righteous, honorable man, he would have turned away from Bathsheba, but he didn’t. He went further than just looking at her. Now the consequences of his sins followed him affecting his whole family and kingdom

We should not tolerate evil by remaining silence while the others (victims) are suffering. Indeed we are taught to be forgiving however there's still limits and wicked should be punished by those who have authority, in order to prevent another crime. This is what I learned from Tamar's tragic story and as a woman, no women deserve to be treated like this by men and they deserve better more than this.

I noticed an interesting parallel between of this story in 2 Samuel 13 and Dinah's dishonour in Genesis 34.Both of the Scenarios,Dinah and Tamar were the only daughters of Jacob and David respectively. The only difference is between the dishonourers of these two stories,Ammon rejected Tamar due to his disgust of his act and Shechem proposed for a marriage to Dinah after he and his entire clan were circumcised by the request of Jacob's sons.
Finally, Joseph's encounter in Genesis 39 with Potiphar's wife is also worthy of mention as we see how he defied Fornication.

This all started with David’s sin with killing Uriah and taking his wife as Nathan the Prophet told him what would happen because he tried to hide his sin. So, sad because I see the evils of sins that can curse a family when God removes His covering hand from a person life. I hated this for the Princess, and also hated that David had war in his home.
    2 Samuel 12
    1
The LORD sent Nathan to David. When he came to him, he said, "There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor.
    2
The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle,
    3
but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him.
    4
"Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him."
    5
David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, "As surely as the LORD lives, the man who did this deserves to die!
    6
He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity."
    7
Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man! This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: `I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.
    8
I gave your master's house to you, and your master's wives into your arms. I gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.
    9
Why did you despise the word of the LORD by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.
    10
Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.'
    11
"This is what the LORD says: `Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity upon you. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will lie with your wives in broad daylight.
    12
You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.'"
    13
Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." Nathan replied, "The LORD has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.

David killed, had many wives and murdered... God would have given him anything. He was a man after God's heart. But God will not over- look sin. Their is a consequence for it. David's was the king of his house and land. His children would show his judgment from God. Tamara unfortunately was to suffer from his sin. His other children showed disobedience and contemp as well. Although God's judgment showed itself differently on Tamar, (rape) all of them suffered. David being a warrior and a king was not a good father. But even with all this, God loved him as He still loves those who love Him...🙏🏾🕊

that the Books of the Old Testament do not concern us at all, because we observe the new sacraments and no longer preserve the old
They base their complaint on the fact that we do not circumcise the foreskin of the male, and we eat the flesh of animals which the Law declares unclean, and we do not observe the Sabbath, new moons and their festival days in a purely human way, nor do we offer sacrifice to God with victims of cattle, nor do we celebrate the Pasch.
42, cols 51-64.

two, when justice is not served by those who have authority, they are as guilty as the person committing the act.
Three, these people are human, yes, even a man after Gods own heart had shortcomings.
This kind of stuff still happens today and its sad.
The way Absalom reacted is the way any brother would react to something like that happening to their sister.

It amazes me how Amnon , while premeditating his crime, had the courage to ask for his father’s permission ( help) in bringing Tamar into his house. And David had zero suspicion of his intentions (as if he was still blinded by the sin that he committed ).

That sin can plague generations. David suffered from lust and so did his descendants, either as a victim like Tamar or a perpetrator. I understand that his sons and daughters must have known his actions before hence they modeled it. David as after God's own heart when he was still a shepher but he struggled through his reign. God was so real in talking how being a King was kind of a curse because seldom can man handle such fame and power and not fall. David was faithful but only through God's faithfulness and mercy. Most of the men in the bible were awful parents, exception probably for Enoch and Abraham (only with Isaac) because you can see faithfulness in their sons. David was probably good with Solomon but even Solomon sinned against God.

This was the curse David encured when he slept with Bathsheba and had Uriah killed.
God said I will take your wives and give them to someone close to you, and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight. You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.
This was the set up for that.
Does it seem harsh that David should lose 4 children for what he did?
Amnon, Absolom, the newborn boy and tamar becoming desolate?
David actually sentenced himself when he was confronted with what he had done by Nathan the prophet.
    2 sam 12
The Lord sent Nathan to David. When he came to him, he said, “There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor. 2 The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle, 3 but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him.4 “Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him.”
5 David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, “As surely as the Lord lives, the man who did this must die! 6 He must pay for that lamb 👉four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity.”
7 Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man!

    David’s own sins blinded him; G/d said, “I will raise up evil within your house..” and again, he relied upon his own understanding, not enforcing the law to Amnon; and didn’t learn the previous lesson: the wage of Amnon’s sin is death and his blood must be shed;
    …..although he lacked wisdom regarding family David repented and there never has been, nor is there another king which has sought the L/rd, from the beginning of his life unto his end, like David has;
“If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood…. you shall come to the priests, the Levites, and to the judge that is in those days and inquire; and they shall shew you the sentence of judgment: 10 And thou shalt do according to the sentence, which they of that place which the LORD shall show thee……”
17 “Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, so that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold…. he may learn to Fear the L/rd, his G/d, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes and do them… that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children, in the midst of Israel.” - Deuteronomy 17:8:
