- There's still plenty of fish to be caught if you’re willing to bundle up and get out! 🥶 The shallow, fall walleye trolling bite is an absolute blast! A lot of times they'll eat shallow crankbaits all day this time of year, but you'll probably have the entire lake to yourselves once the sun sets....
Please drop a comment below and let me know what you think. 👊 Thx SO much for watching!

My favorite spinning reel. Well played
Love it!
Yeah buddy! I need to make it over to Mille Lacs next
Best video on where an when with a great fish catching bait .ever put a blade on a #5 if so what hooks the stock hook is hard to find exactly
Thx much, John! Absolutely - and the #8 VMC Bladed Hybrid Treble is a perfect swap for the front belly hook on a #5 Shad Rap 👊
Know that looks like a good time !! Nice job on catching fish and thanks for showing and telling what your using !!!
Thank you, John! It was a gorgeous night, glad you enjoyed it!!
Spot on man! I do the same technique in lakes near me in Indiana.
That's awesome! I am always curious to hear how others are targeting walleyes in their local waters. Thank you for watching!
I need more night trolling in my life!
Always feels like it's going to be a big hassle, but then when that first rod starts bouncing I wonder why I don't do it more often. 👊 Let's sneak out.
Great video! I think you are spot on with some of those practical tips about line and reel choice etc. I’ve concluded the same even though I have not done much night trolling. Your videos are easy to relate to especially for people living in Minnesota and loaded with practical advice and tips. I like the simple, clear and humble delivery approach. Easy to relate to for those of us who are not walleye pros. Keep it up.
What night were you out?
Saturday night.
Awesome video man ! Some great tips and explanations of things in detail. It’s the smallest of details that the eyes bite
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!!
Great video keep em up man. Have you tried big joshy swimbaits?
Thanks dude! And I haven't heard of them but I'm going to search them up right after this comment.
I live in southeast Ohio they are the deal around here for saugeye and walleye
I hope you get some Big Joshy are one of those baits not to sleep on!
Wife and I were night trolling Sept 10 last....4-6 feet of water number 4 and 5 purple descent rap's 40-50' on the line counters, kept the rod tips high, Full Moon it was very very peaceful, and caught enough for a meal...
Love to hear it! 🔥
Great great video. Night trolling rocks. Unfortunately I am not in position to do much of this now. But when I was a kid, trolling with my dad in a wooden boat with a 5 horse Johnson, we had a blast. Trolled with frogs, no electronics but trolled shallow. Two other pluses for fall nights, it gets dark earlier so you can get out and get more time on the water and no bugs. I am afraid this may be one of the new trends in walleye fishing. I live in Minnesota and will certainly subscribe loved your video.!
What spinning rod are you using? And mono?? I like using a spinning rod at night…seems simpler and easier
Hey Jason! That's a 7'3" Medium Light from 2B Fishing. Works great for a bunch of different walleye techniques. I love it for trolling too, perfect soft tip and load for cranks but has the "oophm" to snap the baits clean of weeds. I run 8- or 10-lb braid for my mainline because we frequently need to snap out the baits clean of debris. And love being bale to see the slight wobble/vibration of the tip to know if the bait is fishing clean versus having to always reel it in to check.
@@TargetWalleye you are a 7’3” medium light fishing machine!
@@jasonguest1441 LOL just trying to get my money's worth on stuff that have multiple uses 🤣👊
Do you only fish at or near full moon phase? Is it just better fishing then or is it just easier as a human to see or a little of both?
My best advice is to fish any time that you have the chance to. A little of both. There's definitely something special about the fall full moons, but that's not the only night they'll bite. This night was actually just a Waxing Crescent phase, which is about 30% illuminated.
My buddy keeps telling me we need to go night trolling. He's done it....I have not. Your video gets me pumped to do it. Fish on!! Oh, what headlamp are you using? Recommended?
It's a different but super fun experience! I can't remember the brand. I picked it up at a Gander Outdoors on the way to the lake last year when i couldn't find my other one. It's super lightweight and rechargeable which is very nice. But not going to be as bright or last as long as the bigger, heavier ones that take multiple batteries. If I can find what brand and model it is I'll try to reply.
