I watch most of the UK salvage channels but these guys are my favorite. Rob is a great presenter but I think the main reason they are way ahead of all the other channels is Chris. Very clever skilled guy who just gets on with the job with no fuss or drama. Thank you both for all your efforts best wishes James
Nowt seems to ever get finished tho and theirs only so many fiat 500s u need to see Gets boring iv stopped watching every video like I used to which is a shame coz I like both these guys
These last few salvage style videos have been fantastic to watch. I remember these cars from my teenage years also. A guy in my town had a modified white one. He was the only guy in town with a Clifford remote start for the engine and a flip up DVD player head unit. I used to go to Halfords car park on a sat night to look at it and dream. I thought he was the coolest bloke ever! He always had hot girls. I had a 1.1 purple fiesta. I had no chance. Lol.
I have an 1998/S 306 GTI-6. Mine doesn't make a beeping noise to say you've left the keys in the ignition with the door open. Mine only beeps if I've left the lights on.
I bought a new Citroen ZX 1.9d 3 door Avantage in 1993 and ran it for 14 years and 248k miles. Mechanically identical to the 306. Just an ordinary diesel hatchback with 70hp but it had superb mix of comfort and handling with steering that was superb and 60mpg on my daily commute of between 80 to 100 miles per day for five years.
One of the Best Peugeot ever built also the best handling 'hot hatch'. The sitting position, road handling, ergonomics, speed and control was much superior to its competitors like Astra gsi, Golf gti, Megane 2.0 16v. I know citroen zx and peugeot 306 are pretty much same platform but I always find 306 looks better than zx.
Rob, check the harness that goes from the door to the car as they are prone to snapping wires, the car may not know the door has been opened/closed. Also, check the main earth wire from the gearbox to the chassis, again prone to breaking. I Had both these issues on my 306.
I bought an 1990 iszuzu trooper Jeep that was lying up for 6 years after going threw the whole thing for days trying to get it started chargring battery’s and near burning the starter out .I eventually found a kill switch under the passenger side carpet and it started first touch . Love the videos
Rob Chris please please please don’t give up on this lovely little pug it’s been sitting waiting to be saved for 11 years it’s so clean underneath it didn’t give up so please don’t give up it’s as rare as rocking horse 💩 now so well worth saving if it does happen to go up for sale I’d definitely be interested in buying 😍🙏👍
Key and ECU aren't locked together at all. Key and immobiliser are locked together. It sends a signal to the ECU to turn on the relay behind the battery which powers the fuel pump and coil packs.
Need some help on my ph3 1.8 petrol if possible mate. Cranks but wont start. Cant scan engine or immobiliser or airbag on diag. But i can scan ABS and BSi. Peugeot main dealer programmed the key but said it wouldnt scan properly. But assured the programming went through successfully. Any ideas?
My beloved gti was very clean underneath but rooted through up the rear pillars around the seat belt mechs bolted down. 🤞 You sort this gem out and give her a new life 😊
Im glad you keep content like this in. Just shows people that things don't always go to plan. I'm sure you'll get it running and I love the down to earth ethic of this channel!
Looking at the car's mot history, its likely that the rear brakes were sorted to get it through its most recent test, back in 2008. That car has been well cared for and deserves to carry on. Good luck with the project and looking forward to watching it come back to life 👍
This is not a fail on the Peugeot you managed to get it to turn over I consider that a win either way. I can't wait to see this next video. You guys keep doing your excellent work don't let anyone pressure you into cutting corners.
your not the only one who gets caught out with ecu locked key immobilisers so dont worry... glad my mgb, mg metro and mg maestro all pre date that... glad to see its solid underneath and hope you get it running again..
Pretty nice it's still got the factory Clarion cassette radio, got a 306 XN 1.9d phase 2 from 1998 myself including the factory clarion cassette and factory rear shelf with speakers, emits great sound, even with cassettes and a cassette mp3 adapter
I’d actually forgotten about the Peugeot, so it was a pleasant surprise to see it again. Looks like a corker underneath Rob, get it running and give it the worlds best valet, and you’ll be in the money for sure, like I think you said it’s a much sorted after car, and a sound, clean, running one got to have a profit in it for yourself 👍
nice honest video guys, just goes to show the problems that you have to overcome, makes it more interesting for people that may have a similar problem.
Not a fail you tried no need to worry rob your top blokes thanks for all the content no need to feel bad that it wasn’t a “will it run video” more to come ♥️♥️
I’ve only subscribed because of the 306. I have a 1.8 GLX 5 door 306 and my car was neglected but so surprised on the condition. I’m so happy you haven’t given up on her because she will be worth it. Keep the 306 videos coming because I love it. Definitely do a cleaning video for her that outdoor be a transformation in itself. Can’t wait fir the next video ☺️
Well my Peugeot 207 beeps at me if I open the door and the key is still in the ignition mine is 2010 Peugeot maybe in the more expensive versions of the models it does it as mine is a top spec one the highest spec one you can buy so the one they have in the video maybe the top spec one of the time and it had the key left in beep option on it or could just be lights like you guys said but mine has auto lights and wipers and mine does the same beep like I’ve said when key is left in and it thinks your getting out
HI rob and Chris i used to do a lot of diagnostics on Peugeot 306 gtis back in the day , A very common one i used to get was bad or broken earth cables on the top of the gear box quit a large lead with from the battery with x2 other leads on same bolt that grounded the system , ive found some old notes i made over 20years a go fuses 35 and 34 are fuel pump and ecu fuse 4 is a 5 amp think it dose the dash check lamp and something else on the system,The gti 6 uses a brown relay that feeds the fuel pump and the main ecu ive changed a few but not as common as the earth strap fault , I may have a un coded ecu that has had the code side of it removed so it will start most 306s weather it a Bosch or marreli ecu as long as the ecu is two rows , this system shuts off the injectors when immobilized the brown relay needs to see a dwell pulse off the ignition modal unlike the popular modual that look all the same back in the day this one can shut one side of the coil pack down when faulty , its a bit different . I may of board you all to death with all of the above , I no Chris is no mug and noes the dance and if any one can get it cracked up he can ,keep em coming great videos
I believe that this Peugeot will run! I hope that you will keep this car and make something like a review when it's road worthy. Looking forward to seeing the next video. Greetings from Greece!
I Am glad you made the comment's at the end , as people try to get part's but don't want to buy all the car it deserves to live again and i think you will enjoy driving it i loved the one i had 🚗🚗
These cars were built in an era of car theft so expect it to be a hard job getting it started. I love the sound of it turning over and am optimistic like you that it's perfectly OK once you can defeat the security. Lovely car and great that it's galvanised! Looking forward to the next one. Keep going!!
Oh my god.... I've been waiting for this installment for so long hoping and wishing it was gonna start for you boys and all us here watching. I've got everything crossed for the ECU guy to do his magic and make it run once again. Love the videos you do and the music is just right none of that mindless thumping dross and your speeded up time lapse is just right too. Good luck chaps.I'll be looking out for the next video.
That will be saveable Rob, you 2 will sort it. Injectors were a bit flakey on them as I recall, they can leak and block. Trading you never know til you have a go, on any 2nd hand car, this is what we do it for, the risk is what makes it worth playing, as you 2 well know :) .
French cars are some of the best on resisting rust. In fact I'd say they are probably the best I've seen. Not sure why German manufacturers can't do the same. Maybe they don't want to.
Hi Rob. What a shame about the key issue ☹️ But this is why your channel is 💯 percent 😆 You’ll get involved and get it going for your RUclips family 👍🏻 Cheers for another very interesting video Stevie 😎
Check the inner arch on the rear passenger side, for my subframe mounting areas and best way to check the axle is look for excessive camber when it is sat on its wheels as the bearings inside the axle tube tend to rot and collapse
The more I watch this the more the comments keep coming. I'm glad this was saved from the garden and I'm glad you guys are doing it. Now I love a project and fixing the old peugeots is my bag totally. But aside from being able to get information from peugeot that only people can dream of I think it would still be sat on the drive getting there slowly but without the benefit of all the knowledge you guys have 😁 Brilliant video I'm on the edge of my seat with this one 🤣
I’m genuinely shocked at how good that underneath looks, I know people will start crying about the rust, but as you point out, it’s just surface rust, which for an R reg car, is a pleasant surprise.

I see a lot of comments on the key and the ECU, but if this is a car with a transponder key (because they also exist with a code keyboard), then it also has a security module, where the transponder code is processed as is the code coming back from the ECU. The cheapest way to overcome this is to have the ECU permanently unlocked by a specialist (usually a tuner). Fun fact: factory new ECU's were always unlocked, until you programmed the code into them.
they all can't be easy Rob but i reckon it will be worth it as it's in fair nick underneath and looking at the interest in it someone will snap it up when you've done what you're doing with it
Hi Rob, great video, gotta see it running and driving now mate, fair play to you guy’s in that your determination is showing through lol.. Cheers, Alex.
Rear beam camber check, left C pillar rust check (however less frequent on 3 door versions) and all peugeot 306 weren't fully galvanized back then, only the suspension parts were (hot-dip galvanization).
Hi Rob and Chris, reference the rusty 306s. The first cars were the most rust resistant... however the worst rust are up at the top of the rear wheel arches... you might need to remove the arch liner or inner boot trim. apparently when they’re bad you can pull the rear seatbelt mounting at the top out! However IMO 306s are more rust resistant than say a Mk5 Golf! Loving the series👍
It is what it is Rob still a great video plenty of content and talk through's of what you had been doing on time lapse.hopefilly you get it sorted so you can carry on. Keep them coming mate Stay safe 👍

Couldnt you track down a scrap yard 306 ecu and key and lock set? They should plug and play.
Brilliant video Rob - completely understand the situation regarding getting it running. Your get there!! And we will get to enjoy it all the more!

Can’t wait for this rebuild gonna look awsome very exciting to see an old banger get souped up spot on lad

Brilliant video I'm on the edge of my seat with this one 🤣
Real world issues - another brilliantly honest video from the best UK RUclips Salvage guys.
I’m genuinely shocked at how good that underneath looks, I know people will start crying about the rust, but as you point out, it’s just surface rust, which for an R reg car, is a pleasant surprise.
Great video lads. Looking forward to next episode.
You shouldn't be sorry Rob, it can't be helped. Hopefully you'll get it solved soon. Would love to see it sitting on original alloys if you can get a set. Looking forward to the next one.
Good video Robo, very much looking forward to the next one 🙂👍
You know what Rob & Chris, no way is this a fail. It turns over, you have a key and you’ve had it on the ramps. A productive day and a step closer. Can’t wait for the follow up. Take care.
Another great video. Like you say this car is well worth keeping as a project, definitely not for parting out.

Another great video Rob. It's almost better viewing when things don't work out easially so don't beat yourself up for not getting it done.

I am sure you guys will get it running! It’s like a cliffhanger ending at the end of some soaps, you should have some dramatic music at the end!!
