The loose plastic looks like a protective peel coat... :-)

You are absolutely right. Thank you! So I can either peel it off or let it come off on its own.

Camping in Australia sounds wonderful! I would love to go there someday. I think the Flextail makes our camping way more enjoyable as it should be. To think that in 2004 my sleeping bag alone weighted 6 lbs. and now that is my entire base weight! But that old Coleman bag was warm and comfy.

I finally bit the bullet and bought the second generation Flextail pump for my Exped mattress. I do about four camping trips to a friend’s off grid property, use my tent near my car and have my CPAP battery in the car and charge it with solar. Not using the car battery.
Anyway, my knees aren’t brilliant and I was finding it uncomfortable rolling out the air of the mattress and kneeling down to squeeze out the air.
The Flextail is brilliant for the inflation and deflation. The small device you have would be excellent for hiking trips. Good luck with getting your confidence up after your fall. Regards, Paul from south east Australia 🇦🇺
