I've been eyeing this watch for over a year and finally bought one a month ago. That power reserve is my favorite part! Love how different it is and how thin it is under dress shirt cuffs. Love Nomos but specifically this watch!
The metro 35 neomatik in champagne looks better than this one. Owned both, sold the 37. Imo Nomos watches look best when they have sunburst/silver/gold/salmon/champagne dials. The reflective dial makes the watch less sterile (yes Bauhaus is too sterile)
RE: long straps, when ordering from Nomos you can contact them and specify what size strap you want. I ordered their small strap when ordering my Orion
That's my watch! And I asked for this review some time ago, so thank you. Good to hear your take on it. I think the power reserve makes the watch, and adds a whole layer of dynamism to the design, in the way it moves and changes, and its creative asymmetry.
Love this watch, pure class. Personally I like the hands - how they precisely show the time due to their design and length. This is the Nomos for me. 👍
Once again a great constructive review Teddy highlighting the good and arguably could do better aspects of the watch. I love the way Nomos has evolved but is still gounded in the Bauhaus simplicity for function and form. I really like the execution of the wire style lugs but with an inclusion of quick release spring bars. The execution of the power reserve indicator is a work of art although it's inclusion on a manual wind movement for me is of an arguable benefit (I have a couple of manual wind watches that are wound the same time each day by habit) but it looks great regardless. I have a Ludwig Neomatik that is a little slimmer than this piece and is 'only' 36mm diameter however I cannot emphasize enough the slim bezel as you say makes the watch seem larger as it's nearly all face. If I was being really picky, the only part that I'm not a huge fan of are the syringe style hands but that's a small personal gripe.
My all time favorite piece! It has been one week on my wrist and its a delight to look at every moment I check the time! My only gripe is the quick change straps are really hard to actually change out. I ordered some smaller straps directly from Nomos but I have a combination of the stock M and an XS on mine right now that works just fine! I have a 6.6 inch wrist and needed a Small Strap. I hope this helps anyone looking to buy it! Really a stunner!
I've owned it for a while and had the same issue originally, until I figured out the trip. The straps are 18mm with 16mm spring bars... You can actually slide the strap a bit to the side (further onto the lug on the side opposite the quick release trigger) and then when you engage the trigger, the trigger side of the strap will easily pop right out. I actually made my own custom straps for this with 18mm flucco suede straps in various colors, combined with 16mm quick change spring bars I bought separately. Just use the stock strap as a guide and a good sharp knife (or wire cutters) to take out the small chunk needed to get the spring bar in. It's a game changer and dresses the watch down really nicely. I usually wear it on a royal blue suede.
It’s lovely . A word of warning though being all face and unconventional lug design they wear huge . I think they are watches that tend to work so much better in smaller sizes . I own the large Ahoi and for me it dosent work at all ., It just looks large and ungainly on the wrist . I have the closed caseback which is totally flat and mirror polished meaning it slides all over the wrist which is a constant annoyance and micro scratches appear from nowhere .Their product designers could give more consideration to wearability
I have owned this watch since October 2020 and love it. It's so unique and I smile every time I look at it. I now use it more as a dress watch since getting a Tudor BB58, but it's still a fantastic piece.
Nomos is an amazing brand that always improves their watches. The latest watches of this model (as mine that i just bought) have improved the hands of the watch (compared to the watch of the video). The hands now, are slightly bended, and follow the curve of the dial. The watch now seems perfect to my eyes..Its an amazing watch.
DUW4401 is actually 23.3mm from back side. That's why it's so disproportionate to the case. 32.1mm is the dial side because of the date disc enlarges the diameter.
The hands are too thin for my taste. And the datewindow clashes with the round shapes of the subseconds and the powerreserve window. In this case a no-date would have been better in my opinion. Also wished the the hour hand was a bit shorter.
This is a quirky "office" watch, maybe can pass up as dressy for the more casual of occasions. Not sure why you felt the need to make so many excuses for it. 30m and no lume are not deal breakers for the intended demographic. And that goes for most of the Nomos watches, apart from the Ahoi and Sport lines.
I need HELP. Heavily considering this watch but upon further research , seems the only way to get it serviced is by shipping it to Germany (sounds risky and costly - insurance etc) . Anyone has experience servicing their Nomos? Please share your experience
I’ve owned this watch since 2016 and had it serviced twice. I purchased the watch from Watches of Switzerland and the last time I had it serviced was this year. I took it to Watches of Switzerland in April and I only got it back yesterday - 4 months later as it does get sent to Nomos. It didn’t previously take so long but in any case, I love the watch and it shouldn’t put you off.
At least in the states I feel Nomos is hardly known and appreciated. I discovered them years ago when learning about the German watchmaking brands. One day I will own one but I think the 41 Update is more to my liking.
IMHO the hands tie the whole watch together. The hour markers are minimal printed dots and the syringe style hands just barely touch the hour and minute markers. A larger/wider set of hands would ruin the simplicity of the design.

NOMOS does always such a great job with their designs, so simple but at the same time so special.
Trust me yall. Looks way better irl.
THX for the Video, greetings from Germany..! ⌚

Another great video Teddy
Great video
Magnify glass to read the time?

That date setting seems annoying
The hands were inspired the Empire state building silhouette

This is the Nomos for me. 👍
I did an unboxing of mine! Years of saving and its better in person! I hope you get one!
This is gorgeous, thank you for your wonderful review Teddy!

@@bobj8877 Thanks for the tips! Super helpful!
@@bobj8877 thank you so much for this awesome tip
What size is urs? I have 6.3inch wrist and I’m thinking about what size should i get
Great watch! I bought it as my first son was born :)
I’m doing this too!
Wow me too. My daughter
Is teddy sped up?
Either that or too much coffee.

I fully agree with you
best nomos!
better if you catch the sound of winding for a manual watch, Thanks!
👍👍👌👌👏👏👏

Amazing That they were able to show so much, yet be so minimal at the same time
This is my first watch. Very interesting piece.
My ideal watch
"Nomos design is not for everybody"? Well you could say that about every watch brand. Otherwise, good review 👍

Do you think the tangente 41 neomatic update would be too large for your wrist?
You pronounce it - Glaashytteh”
Teddy: Terrific review! I was in love with this watch.....until I saw it in person. It's shockingly small.
37MM. I have pathetically small wrist for a 30 YO man. This will fit me perfect
this watch is absolutely beautiful !
The hands are too thin for my taste. And the datewindow clashes with the round shapes of the subseconds and the powerreserve window. In this case a no-date would have been better in my opinion. Also wished the the hour hand was a bit shorter.
The date window is used to fill the space due to the too-centered small second dial.
Just lower the sub seconds and remove the datecompplication. It would look much better.
@@MrPleers The location of the small second dial is determined by the movement, not so easy to change.

Great video Thanks! I can't do manual date watches though.
Great review, Nomos watches are stunning.
Too thin hands
This watch probably won't look good with a steel bracelet!! What a Beauty though @TeddyBaldassare 😍😍

There's nothing stopping a normal watchmaker near you to open it up and service it.
I’ve owned this watch since 2016 and had it serviced twice. I purchased the watch from Watches of Switzerland and the last time I had it serviced was this year. You can service most German watches at RGM in Pennsylvania
wow, that is beautiful. I'm just beginning to appreciate watches after getting into the watch game with my Apple Watch lol
Update: Saving up for a NOMOS now!
At least in the states I feel Nomos is hardly known and appreciated. I discovered them years ago when learning about the German watchmaking brands. One day I will own one but I think the 41 Update is more to my liking.
47 lug to lug? Nice!
42mm
The hands let this down massively. I love minimalism but this handset and dial is just lazy.
IMHO the hands tie the whole watch together. The hour markers are minimal printed dots and the syringe style hands just barely touch the hour and minute markers. A larger/wider set of hands would ruin the simplicity of the design.
