Great coverage and great memories. I've lost count how many times I've been to the place in my younger days and it's good to see it's still going strong, though the YMCA facia transplant turned out to be a bit if a white elephant. Even getting stuck at the level crossing was worth it.
nice video. Btw loftus is still in sydney. and part of the sutherland shire. I have gone there many times as i live in miranda wich is about a 15 minute drive from it.
I think I visited the museum in 2011 while I was living in Sydney. They had a Sydney O class tram and a tram from Japan (Nagasaki) running on the day. I was also very lucky in that one of the volunteers offered to show me through the non-public areas. I got to see the entire collection
I lived in Sydney for 42 years, and never went there....the things you miss hey. I do intend to get up there and visit - just not sure when that will be. Another great video Will!!
I've had a few visits there already. four in all, the last visit was in 2019(pre-Covid) where I also shot a video of the tramway ride from Dulwych Hill back to Central Station.
I was in Sydney for the Rosehill exhibition! However I’m always trying to bring more content not just from Victoria, so hopefully there will be more interstate trips in the future!
I last went to the Sydney museum in 2009 and it is a place I would love to go back to. The collection and facilities are phenomenal!
Thanks William! Certainly worth a revisit I reckon!

Sorry for the mistake, I’ll try harder in future videos. Sorry again.
Will, yet another great trip report. The Museum looks really interesting, and I will plan a trip.
Thank you for sharing.
Cheers, and stay safe Michael
Thank you very much Michael! It’s a great day out for sure!
Loved the use of old and new footage on this one. Excellent.
Thank you Lee!
Amazing video! I'd love to see your 2002 footage in full, especially that shot of the V set at Sutherland.
Thank you!
Nice video Will. Looks like a great museum would love to visit one day. - Nicholas.
Thank you! Certainly worth a visit!
The Variotram is usually out at the tram festival it usually lives in a non public open shed :) Sometimes if you are lucky they let you take a peek :)
Hopefully next time I visit!

Wonderful video
Thank you!
wonderful video
Thank you!
Nice vid
Thank you!
How long was the tram ride roughly?
Maybe 15 one way and 10 the other! Maybe a little less
How long should you plan for a visit.
I’d say 2 hours at least, three if you really want to get the most out of it! I mean if you brought a little lunch a half day would be ideal!
Sad you didn’t see Z2.111 there (my favourite tram in that museum) but still a great video!!
I know! Maybe next time! Thank you for watching!
Why are you in Sydney?
I was in Sydney for the Rosehill exhibition! However I’m always trying to bring more content not just from Victoria, so hopefully there will be more interstate trips in the future!
