Yea that bothered me too. I chalked it up to knowing it must be hard to tell mom her daughter is indeed in the car, but she’s not coming out. Raw crime scene
No excuse for botching that conversation - but I’ve had to have a couple of them and it’s just a really hard conversation to have and say the right things when ur trying to balance a very fresh crime and not knowing who may be involved and ur just very aware of trying to not say the wrong thing to the wrong person. Again, they botched it, but it’s easy to judge them for people having never been in that position too.

Yes I remember when this footage first came out. I believe it was a year ago but that's back when everybody didn't know everything. And they thought the mother was being ridiculous because they were saying she was interfering with their investigation. Technically she was, and I get where she was coming from but part of the rules were they were not to answer her questions until the corner came there to confirm things. She knew her daughter was dead and she wanted to see her body. I also think they were trying to protect the mom from viewing a horrific scene that would never leave her sights again. Seeing the tarp on the car is more than enough.
I agree. I have a feeling he still did it, but that random blood is confusing to say the least! There were no signs of a struggle and he had no injuries. So how did he end up smeared in someone else's blood?

Hopefully, CPS has removed Montana's and Matthew's kids from her custody and put them in the system far, FAR away from that backwater hillbilly town. As sad as it is to say, the boys probably would have a chance at a better life away from both sides of their parents' families.
Dude, how inept was law enforcement? The very first thing they should have done when he went missing was scout the area around his parents house and identify every house in a certain radius, then put a tail on the mother. How it took them over a year to find a dude that was right there the whole time is insane. That's just pure incompetence or disinterest. Probably both.
@eddo1983 well this was a family friend it said, so that may not have helped. Plus getting a search warrant without some kind of evidence is hard. That's why staking out the mom would have been an important first step, especially after there were rumors about her buying a bunch of his favorite things
@eddo1983 yeah, that was actually pretty funny. Especially considering that before they went in they heard him and her talking to each other. I guess she could pretend that she had JUST found him, but... Yeah, come on... She's gonna catch a felony and all she did was buy her son an extra year out of prison.
Once again I wait for the family or friends of the accused to say, “oh yeah he definitely did it” Instead, with this case, we have an enabling mother who obviously helped mold her disgusting son into the piece of garbage he is today. And that “former law enforcement” guy who supports him? Yeah check all of his cases because he obviously never solved them correctly.

Should we commission My Heritage or Ancestry to find out who's _really_ to blame? I'm not saying poor parenting doesn't often play a part in one's child making poor decisions. We all know it can and does. But I'm also saying that no matter how well we raise our kids, that's not always going to prevent them from making bad decisions. Obviously was something wrong with her. A good woman would not want to help him cheat on his wife. she clearly knew he was married. It just shows her character as well.
At the time he killed her though, she had broken up with him weeks before. So she did not stay with him after the abuse and on more than one occasion she told him she would not put up with his abuse. That entire entanglement with the ex-wife and the friend whose house they partied at was messy!
The victim blaming here in the comments is obscene. She was 18, yrs, but she was so young. He was an abuser. It takes 7 times for a victim to leave an abuser. Let’s but the blame where it belongs: Matthew.
He's to blame for killing her. This does not negate the fact that she was knowingly with a married man and was a homewtecker. The two can be true at the same time.
What a bunch of drama all around. None of them seem like very upstanding people. There was all kinds of cheating, drinking, abuse, kids in the middle... What a mess!!
Like we haven't heard this unoriginal gag thousands of times. Try to come up with something new.....something that doesn't insult victims and their families.
Those are certainly factors. Other factors include but are not limited to the following: 1. Do you reside in a sleepy town where everybody knows each other and where news travels like wildfire? 2. Is your house on a cul de sac that sees the children riding their bikes and playing outside until sunset? 3. After you expired, did you present yourself as a mannequin to a man walking his dog or to a woman on her morning jog? 4. Were you the apple of your parents' eyes, the captain of the cheerleading squad, everybody's go-to person for joking and laughing?
Wait, who's blood was on Matthew? Is kind of important to know!! They convict him on a tiny spot but ignore all the blood covering his face and clothes?? Anyone could've sent a text message!

I always look for this in these cases about messed up relationships...but notice there is no father present on her side of things or on his side of things.
They should have got search warrants for family members houses.
@eddo1983 well this was a family friend it said, so that may not have helped. Plus getting a search warrant without some kind of evidence is hard. I'm not saying poor parenting doesn't often play a part in one's child making poor decisions. We all know it can and does. But I'm also saying that no matter how well we raise our kids, that's not always going to prevent them from making bad decisions. And further, we certainly can't know all the specifics of a family dynamic from watching a 40-minute mini-doc on RUclips.
