@@ballistic350 That is true but I'm guessing that it's the shear number of felonies that he was charged with. He copped a plea and the judge threw the book at him anyway. It is a bit extreme but I'm not feeling any sympathy for him. Anyone who could hit a woman with their fists (he was abusive before this night. That was the reason she divorced him) doesn't "love" that person. I don't think he's capable of love. At least she doesn't have to look behind her back every day as long as he's in prison.

I lost my mom to colon cancer in 2022 and losing a loved one to ANY kind of cancer especially after seeing the toll it takes on their body and soul is one of the most traumatic and painful ways to lose someone. Words cannot adequately describe just how painful and traumatic it is to witness someone that you love have to endure something so cruel and unforgiving, nor are there words to adequately describe the despair and hopelessness felt the moment you realize you cannot do anything and you are completely powerless to stop it.

Not unusual. Same thing happened to me during my divorce. He managed to manipulate them, twist situations and skew the truth enough that everything was my fault. Because they believed him and supported him, I got nothing out of the divorce, absolutely nothing, even many of my personal possessions were taken by him. Took years for them to see the truth, by then I had moved beyond them. Apologies were not accepted. No one needs family who can so easily betray.

Notice how he was playing the innocent with his mom on the jail phone? Notice how he even tried to put the detective on the spot during his interrogation? That is how cocky, arrogant and disrespectful people treat others. They are lawless and show no regard to anyone, even family and in-laws. They make victims of everyone they prey on ruthlessly with their lies. Such callous hearts have no holy fear of God and can never be expected to repent - ever!!

How could her family believe that she was the problem in the relationship? Why would they believe him and not their own daughter? Thanks to her own damn family she was made to feel like she was the one going crazy. How could they do that to her? I almost cried listening to her feel like she was so alone during all of this. The fact that she felt so much comfort coming from a total stranger, (the police officer) and not her own family breaks my heart. She felt, finally someone believes me and hears my cries for help. If I could give this young woman a big hug I would in a heartbeat.
There is nothing worse than not having your own family believe you when you need them the most. Thank God for her amazing/supportive best friend. Sometimes real family aren't the one related to you.
I pray that she and her children can finally lead a peaceful life without that monster. I pray that she can completely heal from this trauma. You are a beautiful, strong young lady and please don't ever allow anyone to make you doubt yourself ever again including your family.
