Same! I never or rarely find good stuff lol. These stores are great! I’m in a low income area and think no one in my area has anything really good to donate. I live adjacent to rich areas but i guess they probably donate their stuff somewhere else or the help takes it. I never really see anything name brand, in good condition, or new. Clothes at the thrift stores here always have stains and holes and the VHS tapes are always the same tired Disney ones. Don’t really see records, video games are only Wii crap that i already have, or old nes Mario stuff that’s super overpriced.
Dang, there always seems to be so much great stuff at the Goodwill locations near you! The ones near me are 75% clothing, 20% porcelain decorative crap, and only 5% electronics / digital media / books.
They definitely seem to be regional. My friend goes to the Goodwill out near the retirement areas because she collects leaded glass. It was popular with all the people cleaning out their houses in that area.
I used to live in Arizona and I genuinely think Eric is just a good luck charm! The most I would find are cool old pieces of furniture. Otherwise, the video and game section was mostly crap. Waiting to see if my new state has better hauls…
This kind of videos give me such a cozy feeling, especially when you're doing your haul in your retro gaming room. Too bad you couldn't play a bit more of that Crystal Light tape, I wanted to follow the instructions lol.
You do much better in general with these videos then most of the retail crowd. These thrifting videos are by far the best thing you do. They are amazing.
Man, my local GW never have anything this cool. Nice MS software collection! Also, I spotted that Sony alarm clock in the background, I still have the same one on my dresser here. The CrystalLite tape is cool, and good find on the Aiwa stereo. Thanks again!
Operation Flashpoint actually spawned into one of the most realistic military simulators on the market. Loved it and the future games in the series. It directly morphed into what is now ARMA III. Still going strong today! Loved playing the original when I was a kid.
@@Mrflash222006 yeah, the 3rd game is a bit off, never finished it:/ but the new installment to the series, Syberia - the world before, is really worth playing! It came out last year.
Writer's Digest magazine used to sell those mini-word processors like the one you looked at one of the stores. It was designed for writing on the go. 😄
A guy I went to school with was given a NEO in 5th grade to use for school work. This was around 2009. He had really really bad handwriting, and that was their solution. He had it for a few years.Interesting little thing, funny to see another one.
The sims vacation! Such a good one. I got the sims 1 for my Mac at my local goodwill also. Haven’t been in a brick and mortar store since before the pandemic - have just gotten my used games on eBay. Want to go thrifting again now that it’s safe to shop in stores again! I was constantly sick in the fall and winter and knock on wood finally it seems to be safe to go outside again and not everyone everywhere is sick. I’d love to find some more old sims games and expansions. Used to have that queen Amadala cup topper! Had everything of her, was such a huge fan. That sims 3 limited edition caught my eye! I would have checked that out.
When I was a kid in highschool, being the nerdy kid I got to do the jobs the IT guy didn't want to do. And we had a cart of those alphasmarts. I used to take them to an English, history, or speech class that was writing a paper. The cart had a regular laptop that had a IR you could send you text to word or straight up print it to the HP laserjet on the cart. Teachers like them because it just a word processor you can't be dinking around on the internet with them. Lol blast from my past.
I graduated high school in '96 but I doubt I remember the vocabulary in that book. I also watched Lonesome Dove on TV with my dad. I ended up reading all 4 novels in the series and other Larry McMurtry books. He's one of my favorite authors
I finally had time to watch the entirety of this new episode of Thifting Time & I'm impressed both by what you found & bought Eric. I'm glad you're able to go to all of these thrift stores & find all these cool items from the past since it really does feel like opening up a time capsule for some items (like that cool SkateorDie themed shelf) or discovering new things I didn't know existed (like that motion controlled console from 2004). If I wasn't so busy all the time I'd love to be able to visit a thrift store on my own & see what I can find. Especially since the last time I shopped in one was years ago.
Just found a way to make money through time travel. Buy old software today, take it back into the past to sell it, then deposit the money in a bank. (You can have that one for free. I already have my billion- dollar scheme in place.) SO much fun watching these. I've gotta get to a good Goodwill.
LOL Goodwill reselling resell crap that’s been resold by itself is not surprising at all. Kinda funny they couldn’t even be bothered to remove their old sticker.
Operation Flashpoint was the predecessor to Arma 1, 2, and 3. As some may be aware, Arma 2 and 3 were the base games that people built battle royale mods for, which eventually led to games which copied the format, like PlayerUnknown's : Battlegrounds and Fortnite.
Flashpoint is what Codemasters branded the game they marketed for Bohemia Interactive. Bohemia terminated the agreement with Codemasters and now sells the updated game through Steam as Arma3.
The phone central organizer would be great for someone who collects nostalgic items. They could showcase their goods. I had that exact same Bedazzler, same box 1988. Our Goodwill never has any good electronics that are older than 2015. Good finds 👍
Those $old Out PC game releases from the UK seem are common in thrift stores in college towns (probably bought over by foreign students) I pick them up regularly in my town. They are identical to the USA releases.
I think I had that Magic School Bus Dinosaurs game as a kid, if not then one similar to it. If it has a mini game where you catch gems falling from a waterfall, then that's the one. I wonder if it's still hidden away somewhere.
11:40 in school my handwriting was so bad they made me use an alpha smart. This was in 4th grade and some of my classmates wanted to use it. Then they were optional in 7th and 8th grade and by HS we were using our own computers at home.
That game, Syberia was a pretty cool game; i bought a copy around 2004 when i was working at a dead mall myself, Cortana Mall, Baton Rouge Louisiana, which recently was torn down and now is an Amazon Fulfillment center. Anywho, the game was was on clearance even then--but it was a really cool little point and click. There's also a Syberia II that was alright, but the original was better i find. Anyway--love the videos! :)
The Star Wars Episode I cup toppers were actually cross-promotional between Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut. Each restaurant had four of them exclusively.
Working at an office, I can confirm that organizer is still useful. In a big office they use the landline to contact between floors, and all client contact goes through the phones in each cubicle. When you are a low level intern like me, you need all the desk space you can get from the nightstand they put you on, and that landline takes up a ton of space.
I think the organizer is still made because "legacy" landline telephones would still be around in business settings, especially larger ones. (Even if people generally don't use the landlines much these days, it would be too much expense and hassle to remove pre-existing phone systems, so the landlines are allowed to stay as long as the system is still working...)
4:57 if that was in good condition it probably either wouldn't have been originally donated or someone would have bought it before you ever got a chance to ever see it
Operation Flashpoint is great! It is the precursor to Arma. I'm sure it doesn't hold up super well but there are clear similarities between Operation Flashpoint and even the newest Arma game (Arma 3)
I feel old. I bought both Siberia and Operation Flashpoint on launch day for the OG Xbox. Siberia is a classic, and launched for like 19.99 on Xbox. Operation Flashpoint had some cool online coop, but is basically a poor man's Ghost Recon and is ultimately mediocre and forgettable.
Come for the thrifting, stay for the NFT dunking. EDIT: I had an AlphaSmart Pro as a kid to assist me with taking notes in school. They were actually pretty slick considering they were primarily just word processors.
When you said "Alpha Smart" at 11:35, I will not lie you unlocked a deep memory from within me. When I was in middle school, I actually used to use those! It was mostly used for writing assignments and I would save them under a specifically named folder and then plug it into a computer to later print out the writing essay. The Alpha Smart also had it's own cart where the students would plug in their Alpha Smarts after using them to charge. I don't believe it ever caught on despite my teachers pushing for it but it was honestly pretty neat and I never thought I'd hear the name "Alpha Smart" again heh
Syberia is a great game! They put it on switch and that's where I bought it. I believe it originally was on PC and PS1. They actually just came out with the 4th game last year!!
Always fun watching your adventures in thrifting! I still have that Queen Amidala Taco Bell topper WITH the cup! And I totally would've gotten that framed Captain Kirk photo lol. Great video! :)
Woh I need to correct you on Operation Flashpoint that game wasn't cheesy at all. For it's time (like 2001-2003ish) it was one of the most realistic cold war military sims out there. You can play as a solider, or ground vehicle or aircraft etc. And it had a massive modding community. It's the grandaddy of the ARMA game series.
When it comes to PC shovelware, which is common at thrift stores, would you start collecting discs from eGames? eGames, formerly RomTech, was very prolific in the late 90s through the late 2000s, with their shovelware compilations showing up at places like Walmart and elsewhere. I remember buying my first ever eGames disc from a small town drug store in 2001, a big box copy of "Blast Thru", a rather decent breakout clone. Most of their compilations featured clones of more well known arcade games, made by indie developers, and some of these clones are actually rather good. They even had really odd-ball games like "Shoot the Roach". eGames is long gone, but they had a big presence in software racks and perhaps their history should be explored more.
Operation Flashpoint is the granddaddy to Arma, Arma 2 and Arma 3, which of course begat Day Z. It's a combat simulator, in that, you are simulating being a soldier vs. the "normal" FPS where you have a health bar and ammo/powerups to pick up.
At my Goodwill, there are hordes of people circling like vultures, waiting for the next bin of electronics to be wheeled out so they can snag them before they even hit the shelves. If it's on the shelf, it's probably worthless or overpriced.
I have more fun watching you thrifting than I do when I go myself. I never find anything half as interesting as you do.
Same! I never or rarely find good stuff lol. These stores are great! I’m in a low income area and think no one in my area has anything really good to donate. Syberia 1 and 2, are two of my favorite adventure games! Such a good story in those games
Posted the same comment - waited 8-10 years for the 3rd game but the game play wasn’t the same - still love Beneath a steel sky
@@Mrflash222006 yeah, the 3rd game is a bit off, never finished it:/ but the new installment to the series, Syberia - the world before, is really worth playing! It came out last year.

Anything w/ Linda Evans is a keeper.
as a kid in the 90s that did not yet have a home pc, getting to use an alphasmart in school was the pinnacle of cool for me
That small computer was quite a find! Please do more of these Thrift Time episodes.
Operation Flashpoint is actually the first game in the ArmA series! That's a good find
Those old discs with 200 games, none of which are any good - i miss them so much! 7 year old me was losing his mind.

Ahhh yes the Mesa Goodwill and Savers on Power. They have really hiked the prices there. I’m sure I’ve ran into you a few times. Cheers. 🎉
I was just in the thrift playlist the other day and had noticed an upload was about due...Glad to see it!
That star wars box set at around 9min was the first to get THX certification. Hilarious
I 100% have that exact bedazzler, it's vintage.
What fun! I'd be delighted to hear more of that cassette you found, on your 2nd channel. It sounds like a hoot! 😄
fantastic little stereo system. looks good!🎼

That Neo was pricey for the Goodwill but a great deal. They're actually super in demand right now.

Syberia is a great game
Syberia is an excellent point-n-click adventure game. It's been ported to the Nintendo Switch as well as other platforms and has 2 sequels.
I miss Savers. Haven't seen one since I moved states. I remember being allergic to the sizing or detergent they put on the clothes they sold.
Those $old Out PC game releases from the UK seem are common in thrift stores in college towns (probably bought over by foreign students) I pick them up regularly in my town. They are identical to the USA releases.
I just realized I've never used speakers since the late 00s. I've only been using various headphones ever since.
Old school flight sim I remember that and I remember a space simulator, the incredible machine
I LOVE THE NEO! Used that in school because I have Cerebral Palsy and handwriting is difficult for me! I think I need one now.

Hi so where was the Aiwa system made in???...Japan? China? thx

Judging by your locations i think you live in mesa. anways love the videos

great finds!
Bro, Operation Flashpoint is among one of the worst war fighting sims ever made.
There’s only one place it belongs: back on that Goodwill shelf.
Weird take, considering it became the basis of ARMA. It's a MilSim, not a point-and-drool shooter.
