My 8 bare roots are coming in April so excited Blue Girl Anna's Promise Cream Veranda Koko Loko Bliss Parfuma Parfuma Annisette Carding Mill and Olivia ahhhh Thank You Kimberley 😊 so Grateful for you.🌹
Just watched David Austin's bare root planting guide video - they said to soak 'at least a half hour' (not a typo). As long as your bare root hasn't dried out and has been kept moist, I don't think it really matters how long they soak, especially if you water well after planting (a good drench) - the roots will naturally absorb all the moisture they need. It may be different if you buy body-bag roses in sawdust - then I think a good soak may matter, especially later in the season when the sawdust inevitably dries out.
Thank you for sharing. I live in zone 7 NYC , I just received a few bare roots , do I plant them outside now , or put them in pots? And leave them inside or outside . Thank you again.
Hi Kim, I have a question for you. I like the ground cover rose Playful Happy Trail. Will it grow well if I plant in hanging flower pot? The flower pot is 3 gallon size.
Hi Kim, The temperatures at my place are between 42 and 60 F. next 7 days . Night temperatures will be mostly in 30 s . Is this a good time to spray Bonide All Season Horticultural Oil and prune the roses to 2 feet height? Many of my roses have fresh red buds and some have new teeny tiny green leaves coming out. Or I should wait until next month?
I have always soaked mine for 24 hours and it baffles me that they recommend such a short amount of time. You will find that each vendor has a slightly different time listed for soaking bare roots. You will find anywhere between 4 hours-24 hours with most saying 24 hours. Thank you for being a part of Rose Geeks!
Thank you so Much for your help . Enjoy your bare roots and planting
Giving me courage to buy one of these! So delighted to be in the FB group to learn more too! Thank you!! ❤️🌹

In the shade or sun?
Shade is ideal.

@@TheRoseGeek Thank you. I was just hesitating to do the pruning until the last frost date, which is April 23rd in my place this year.
