      That book; which is what the word bible actually means; filled with a lot of stories written thousands of years ago by humans, through their consciousness thousands of years ago, ignorant of how creation really created Itself, does have some meaningful stories. Then there’s so much else showing a very distorted idea of life, fairytales essentially, with a myth-illogical ‘god’ who kills when people don’t follow ‘his’ way. Have you ever really thought about it? Used critical thinking skills? Or just accepted it at face value as I did for almost 50 years, believing with blind faith and being told if I didn’t I’d go to hell? King Akhenaten was just one of the first to believe in a one ‘god’ over many. It was the Sun. 🌞
      Star Wars series and Wizard of Oz and so many other stories are much more relevant nowadays, with a lot more integrity. “Do not believe anything just because…” from the kalama sutta-by Gautama Buddha. Can be read in full online. I had the ‘bible’ verses read when I believed this stuff, at my sister’s funeral, after she ended her life; hanging herself from a tree in a cemetery a month before her 49th birthday in 2009.

    Lost my dad (even before he died) to alcoholism. When I was 5 my mom left him for that reason. At 12 I lost my mom to cancer, and I thought "but I still have my dad..." He came home but late, my mom had already been buried and he left without saying goodbye, I had again, lost my dad. When I was 16 my dad died from cirrhosis, that day I decided to not have hard feelings towards my dad, and I cried because somehow I understood we lost the chance to get to know each other...
    Later in life, while going through one of the worst times of my life, I had a dream, in it my dad came to visit, and he gave me a hug... and I felt loved... I cry every time I remember. The next day I realized it was, FATHER'S DAY!!!
    Something I longed for... For a long time, God my Father sent to me, under the worst of circumstances and on a perfect day, Father's day.
    It is true, to everything... there is a season, I had longed for my earthly father's love, now I know, I was loved, my dad just was a prisoner of the alcoholism, I just have two wishes, for my dad even in his last breaths have asked for the Lord's forgiveness and for me to see him again in heaven to hug him again and tell him "dad I love you, Father thought me to love and He forgave me, so I forgive you, hug me again, like in father's day..."
    To God, the perfect Father, be the glory, for his goodness and mercies towards me, undeserving totally.

      @Barry Obama it must have made sense for the 13 people that gave his comment a thumbs up. I was born in 1978. In the 50's and 60's people preached the Word of God in mainstream music. This song is derived directly from Ecc. 3:1-8. What happened in music since The Beatles, The Byrds, and The Righteous Brothers is drugs. Music even became evil, with a darker sound. People started 'Running With the Devil', and giving a 'Shout At The Devil, on a 'Highway To Hell'. Music for the most part, was pure, until drugs walked in. But 'Love Walks In' in the person of Sammy Hagar, in the world of Van Halen. And where love exists, the devil is running in the opposite direction. After love walked in away from the Sunset Strip, Axl started 'Knocking On Heavens Door' in the midst of all the debauchery at the worst spot in the U.S.A. to begin a music career, the Sunset Strip, where David Lee Roth began 'Running With The Devil'. But "Love never fails"...1 Cor. 13: 8, even at the Sunset Strip.

    This song helps me feel at peace during troubled times. It's the most accurate summation of life I can find, as the lyrics are all encompassing of the aspects of humanity and daily life. Everything changes and nothing is permanent except for change. There are positives and negatives, but experiencing them all is just part of being human, and it's comforting to feel connected to it all. At least, that's what I myself take from this song.

      @@corydorastubeIt's a contentious and often very convenient book for the men who no doubt rewrote it under King James 1611. There is also wisdom and beauty in it. If nothing more, it a reference point of paramount relevance to understand the world we live in vile and beautiful.

    • @jimbobo8193
      @jimbobo8193 6 месяцев назад

      @@corydorastube Deuteronomy is how it's spelled. It was Christians in America (Our FREE Country) Who opposed slavery. Jeremiah 17:9 says: "The heart is deceitfully wicked and beyond understanding." Our sinful hearts cause the evil in the world. (Everyone > Romans 3:23) We are all capable of sin. Slavery is sin. The banksters who control most governments are sinful. Abortion is MURDER! And liberals are illogical / without the ability to reason. Jesus came to pay for (atone) for our sins. He is God's answer to create the righteousness He requires for us to live with Him in eternity. (We can't attain this on our own) Why? Because the fallen human condition is at enmity with a holy Creator. His justice must be assuaged and Jesus is the only one (The God-Man) who can do that. You cannot understand these things unless God opens your eyes and draws you (John 6:44). Jesus is the only way (John 14:6, Acts 4:12 etc...) All religion is nonsense and man made. Only scripture (God's word) is the source of truth. When murder, theft, lying, and abuse disappears (all those who practice these things will be in Hell!), then God will have purged the sin nature from His chosen (elect), and we will dwell with Him forever. Again, we can't do this, only Jesus substitutionary death, His burial, and His resurrection accomplishes this task which for man is impossible. Ignore the world religions including Roman Catholicism! These are man made, works oriented methods that cannot change the human heart. Only God through Christ can do this! Your error is called oversimplification! Study the Bible and trust Christ!

I am always willing to learn Sir and I am a firm believer in The Lord Savior Christ and that everything on this planet is divinely created good and evil everything with its opposite. Many mysteries we cannot understand which I would say the song addresses. Why a time for war? As believers it is difficult to understand this evil. Now if you cannot except that mortal men of great power and even some without, may use the Bible to sanction sinful action of others than I would say you are incredibly naive. I'm not mouthing anyone else's beliefs or words. I'm expressing my point of view at this moment in time. That is subject to change at any time as I continue to learn. Best wishes to you and yours.🙏

    This song is comforting because it's from the Bible Ecclesiastes 3:
    "A Time for Everything":
    For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
    a time to be born, and a time to die;
    a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
    a time to kill, and a time to heal;
    a time to break down, and a time to build up;
    a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
    a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
    a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
    a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
    a time to seek, and a time to lose;
    a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
    a time to tear, and a time to sew;
    a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
    a time to love, and a time to hate;
    a time for war, and a time for peace.
    but they changed some words to not paraphrase but, I love this song as well. :-)

    "Turn! Turn! Turn!", also known as or subtitled "To Everything There Is a Season", is a song written by Pete Seeger in 1959.[1] The lyrics - except for the title, which is repeated throughout the song, and the final two lines - consist of the first eight verses of the third chapter of the biblical Book of Ecclesiastes. The song was originally released in 1962 as "To Everything There Is a Season" on the folk group the Limeliters' album Folk Matinee, and then some months later on Seeger's own The Bitter and the Sweet.[2]

    The lyrics are taken almost verbatim from the book of Ecclesiastes, as found in the King James Version (1611) of the Bible (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8), though the sequence of the words was rearranged for the song. Ecclesiastes is traditionally ascribed to King Solomon who would have written it in the 10th century BC, but believed by a significant group of biblical scholars to date much later, up to the third century BC.
