    The one a day series in January was just inspired.
    This was the best yet, everything was on point. The nutritional info, presentation, music and humour!
    The team that put this together deserve recognition, maybe even an award! High end production value no doubt.

When we have a Permanent Change of Station it gets hard to continue eating healthy due to packing, traveling, not having access to a stove and sometimes a microwave, and having to stay in a tight budget. Some of those are pretty common actually, a lot of asian dishes contain protein and peanuts, and watermelon feta salads are delicious! So fresh for summer :) I personally think everything goes with cream cheese, especially cucumbers... so I figured a pickle would too :)

    I mean this in all seriousness: What's the appeal of bento boxes? They seem to require a lot of work and don't seem any more convenient than packing a regular lunch. Do people like the idea of themed meals? Is it easier to portion control? I just can't figure out how to fit this in my life.
    (I still very much enjoyed the video! Thanks for making such great content.)

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  7 лет назад +52

      I think it's just an appealing way to view healthy food. When food looks pretty, we are more likely to partake. There's to inherent reason someone must include bento boxes in their life, perhaps you can find inspiration from the recipes and incorporate them beyond a bento lunchbox just as a meal or snack :) Cheers

    • @KellyS_77
      @KellyS_77 7 лет назад +30

      My kid (age 4) doesn't like his food to touch. Putting his lunch in a bento box keeps everything separated and lets him pick and choose what he wants to eat from a bunch of healthy items. We don't do any of the super involved character bentos.
      Ultimately, it's just a lunch box, a little more sturdy than the plastic things we had when I was a kid, and a whole lot less wasteful than the brown bags and endless ziploc baggies when I was older.
      When we pack a bento for the adults in the house, we usually use leftovers from the night before, or a sandwich. When my husband knows he's likely to have a really long day at work, I'll give him a "snack bento". With some healthy but tasty snacks.
      These videos show her making everything before she packs it, but really quite a few of these recipes would keep in the fridge for a few days. You don't have make everything fresh everyday.

    • @maianhh7689
      @maianhh7689 7 лет назад +11

      Danielle Lacey bento boxes don't have to be themed or have any kind of gimmick. It offers a bit of portion control, and kids tend to like them because it helps keep their food separated. You can pack them like a normal lunch box if you want. Usually, bentos are tightly packed to the point that the food doesn't move around.

    • @redhandedlizzie
      @redhandedlizzie 7 лет назад +7

      I like them because you can include a variety of different foods and they are great when you have little portions of leftovers which might otherwise go to waste. They really save on space and packaging - you don't have to use baggies, you can just plop stuff in the compartments and go. If you've got several things you want to pack they'll keep it all in place without mixing them up. I've done the cute time-consuming bentos for my husband (including animal picks and fruit with faces, etc.) However, if you're just packing a regular lunch it's really quick and easy. You don't have to go all out by any means and it makes everything look tidy and appealing.

      thank you so so much, that's a huge compliment and very much appreciated :) I try to keep my bento ideas kid and adult friendly- all of my recipes are very versatile so you can generally sub in what you don't like for what you do. Plus, I encourage viewers to take them and make it their own! More to come :) Cheers

    But the little sauce cups don't fit inside the bento boxes! It makes my heart cry

    • @MindOverMunch
      @MindOverMunch  7 лет назад +2

      Actually they do fit in the box but I chose not to include them because then they would take up a compartment :) But they do fit!

    • @annadawson5325
      @annadawson5325 6 лет назад

      I was thinking that too. Personally, I would put a little less of one item in a compartment. Maybe put a few nuts around the dip container if there is room.🤔

    I watched this video the other day, and had an epiphany. We have the rice papers in the cupboard (never been opened, even though I am Gluten Free and totally planned to make some summer rolls). I had some leftover roasted veg in the fridge that needed being used, and made rolls out of the leftover veg and used some salad dressing as the dip. This is now a TOTAL REPEAT!! Thank you so much for all your great ideas!

    Love these ideas! A few questions: How do you keep the avocado from browning? Also, I would love to see a prepare-ahead type of video. Would you ever recommend preparing bento boxes for the whole week on the weekend, so that you don't have to prep lunches every single day?

      thanks for the suggestion! Check out my meal prep playlist :) I add lemon or lime juice to help with the browning, and covering with plastic wrap on top can help too :)

    As always...I enjoyed the video girlie! I have an idea for bento boxes. How about a "Go Green" bento box series. Everything in the bento is green ;-). Example ingredients: pear slices, green apples, green jello, salad, honeydew, snap peas, chicken verde ( or chik'n for vegetarians/vegans ;-) ), green grapes, pumpkin seeds, pesto with, spinach tortilla for "green wraps", zoodles, broccoli soup, pea soup. Tell me what you think?
