War is a truly tragic thing.. but with war comes not only new music, but many other things as well, both good and bad! This piece really does the most it can to represent war, but of course, we have no true idea what it was like. Amazing job Traum as usual! I've never heard of this piece so thank you
I really don't understand avant-garde music like Schoenberg and more of the Stravinskeys things. But composers like Prokofiev I deeply respect. One of the greatest composers ever, love his etudes, sonatas and concertos (especially piano concerto 3)
Schoenberg is not avant-garde. Avant-garde began AFTER WW2 as a reaction to the horrors of it. It was an understandable reaction, but a musical dead-end. You can't write music that deliberately tries to alienated the listener and expect it to have a lasting impression.
@@Quotenwagnerianerthough, there’s value in exploring dead ends and non-lasting forms do expression that fit into particular historical contexts. If no one’s doing it, the value only increases. Preferring the eternal to the transient is a matter of taste.

Traum. I think you've surpassed your self on this one . This deserves a standing ovation ! You capture the moment .The moment the world finds itself in . The 6th, 7th and 8th sonatas are all extraordinary works and have been personal favourites of mine by Prokofiev for years. The music he composed from 1935 right up to 1947 and the 6th symphony has to be some of the greatest music of the twentieth century.
This is such a breathtaking piece! There is no perfect harmonies or beautiful melodies, but just disjointed, harsh sounds. But it's still music!, and not just someone bashing the piano, there are little patterns littered all over this work! all this ties in greatly with the theme! Pieces like these show that music can be so much more!
Stunning playing as with your other interpretations! You’ve been a big influential factor in starting up my own channel - I never thought this format could convey all the emotion, energy and brilliance that you manage to create. Thank you!
Woah, this is certainly an intense one! The development in this piece is really interesting, and the way you play it definitely brings out the chaos of war
Prokofiev's piano work is some of the most underrated compositions. Great performance as always. Have you played also from Prokofiev Piano Sonata 7 also a war sonata? You might know it, it was used in the menu of the older Gran Turimo games. Such an energetic piece.
