  • @slippercream

    The moment you cut into the shot of the exhaust note and warble @7:02, I immediately knew what the car was. Then there's also that staggered twin-tipped tailpipe (though, not standard).
    That 6A12 may not be the peppiest off the line, but once you get up to a roll, it flies. Best part about it (other than the way Mitsu V6s sound in general), it's extremely capable on the track. For an FF layout car, it's quite potent. And that's why it was always a true direct competitor to the DC2 Teggy.
    But, for those few who do notice the car, it's just absolutely sexy. Looks sexy, sounds sexy... seductive even to a drive - which always goes off to a teasing start, and explodes when it climaxes.
    Sorry for the cheesy reference. This just happens to be one of the better N/A MIVECs out there (if not the best) ... until the 6G75M came along. Better in every way, but sadly was never used in a way that showcased how great it really is. Or could be. (I always imagine that, in a 2,500lb chassis.)

      Yeah i've seen a couple pop up over the last few years and i'm always very tempted by them. So many people have no idea what they are as well which is a massive apeal for me as i like having something a little bit different.

    • @gerrycrompton8044
      @gerrycrompton8044 4 года назад +1

      They seem like a really good alternative to DC2s when you factor in what it would cost to pick up a decent one

    • @LeadFootash23
      @LeadFootash23  4 года назад +1

      @@gerrycrompton8044 yeah they're incredible value for money in comparison to the Integra. I think the main reason the Integra stole the lime light was just that it had much better tuning potential.
      Like a lot of Toyotas high performance N/A engines they're already pretty heavily tuned out of the fatory so there's not a huge amount of room for improvement.
      It was the downfall of the Celica and Corolla T sport that i mentioned as well.

  • @jamesbernstone2961

    Recently got a manual FTO gpx to fill in for my STi while it gets some work done, and I love it, don't care it's a NA don't care it's fwd it drives beautifully, MIVECs gives it a nice kick when it comes in and they have aged so well in my eyes... To think before I bought it I was considering a FTO or a Calibra.... Ive had 7 calibras (no turbo though) and love them but hands down FTO is in a different league.

    Just to be an anorak, the SR20VE head gives you variable valve lift (like VTEC) as well as variable timing. The S14 and S15 SR20DE/Ts had just VVT, and it's a bit underwhelming. The best version of the V head is the VET version which, typically, was only offered on one specific version of the X-Trail, only in Japan, for 7 years. You can take the head and put it on any other SR, but it's a pain to make it work properly and not really worth it imo.
    Also I'd like to add to this list the Daihatsu Charade GTI DeTomaso edition, purely because you can tell people you drive a DeTomaso, and they'll assume you mean a Pantera.

    • @LeadFootash23
      @LeadFootash23  4 года назад

      That's my bad, i thought the Autech S15 had a VE in it with it having 200bhp but you're right it's just a tuned DE. Still quite a considerable amount more than a normal Spec S though.
      Yeah, the Charade Detamaso is a great shout. I didn't even realise those cars existed until a few years ago, let's be honest though. Most people don't know what a Pantera is either 😂
