    Wow, that came out amazing! Would be definitely cool to do some shots in an abandoned house. Thanks for sharing the whole process, including the problem solving bits. When you pointed out the challenge with sleeves, that had we puzzled as well. As others mentioned, I think you can oil sissers. I’ve done it in the past at least, for the same reason you have. I used very thin machinists oil, the same you would use for a sewing machine. Thanks again madam M!

      Thank you! This was definitely the hardest thing I’ve made to date.
      Thanks for the oil tip, I need to actually learn how to look after my machine properly anyway so I will definitely get some 🖤

    Yes you can oil your scissors but rub it after so it doesn’t leave marks. I do it on a regular basis just as I do my machine tune up every month.
    Nice work! I love everything you do

      Thank you that’s so helpful! Is there a specific type to use or doesn’t it matter?
      I really need to learn how to do maintenance on my machine, I’ve been putting it off cause I’m scared I’ll break it but it’s getting so dusty inside 😬

    You should make Lucy’s wedding dress out of Bram stroker Dracula.. that would be so cool and I reckon you would smash it out of the park.

    • @MadameMyriad
      @MadameMyriad  10 месяцев назад

      That would be an ambitious one, the fabric sourcing alone 😅 Could be really cool to get creative with shooting though!

    this is so beautiful and amazing and impressive!!! i do want to point out, to hopefully minimize some of your self criticism, that the real sleeves of the 1890s & the movie had padding in the shoulders! it wasn’t jsut the fabric used, they straight up had padding stuffed in there / boning/ wire/ lots of tricks to keep it as poofy. so all you’d need to do is add some poof inside your sleeves instead of remaking in a “nicer fabric” as you alluded to- i think this one is great!!!

    I've been self-doubt-procrastinating finishing my 1860s corset for 3 whole weeks, and watching you work through and problem solve has given me the inspiration to finally cut into my precious coutil. Thanks so much for the video and what a fantastic dress!! seriously well done :]

    At some point, you mentioned your ADHD, and I was like: « HA! I KNEW IT!! ». It takes neurodivergent person to recognize another. 😜 My own ADHD wins over me all the time! 😂 Especially when I’m supposed to be working on some translation (I’m an English to French translator), but it’s really boring. So many cute cat videos, so little time! 😅

    Could the machine do rows of those loose stitches and then you can tighten them to gather, so you don’t have to spend days doing it by hand?

    • @MadameMyriad
      @MadameMyriad  4 месяца назад +1

      I’m not sure to be honest, the gap between the gathers was pretty big to get the right effect so I don’t think a machine could have done that.
      Plus I genuinely suck at machine gathering, I have never successfully done it, ever… I always snap the threads so I’ve pretty much accepted I’ll always do them by hand 😂
