- HCG Digital Arts is pleased to present the Spartan 7W "Executive" for the Flight Simulator platform. The developer was in contact with Jim Savage - a real world owner and authority on the Spartan 7W. Jim provided key photographs and authentic information to compliment the release of this aircraft. The "Executive" was born in the 1930's by oil magnate Bill Skelly, in Tulsa Oklahoma, and was the most luxurious aircraft of its time. Popular with affluent buyers, a 7W cost $23,500 (todays equivalent of ~ $495,000.). Marketed as the "limousine of the sky" this high performance airplane featured arm rests, dome lighting, deep cushions, cabin heat, sound proofing and large windows. "Let your imagination dream" as you pilot the "Executive".

Beautiful video. The Spartans looks so real. Great attention to details of the 7W. I love it!
Thank you Jim! The best compliment possible from the N17634 owner! Your extended effort to share your wealth of info to compile the documentation on this incredible aircraft is very much appreciated! Blue skies!
thank you very much for all your help Jim, couldn't have done as much as I did without you! Your assistance is forever appreciated :)
She's a beauty, that's for sure. Can't wait to hit the skies with this one.
Let us know how the experience goes! Thanks for watching!
I might by MSFS just for this!
Priceless and awesome! A truly cool classic aircraft in a fabulous simulator! Cheers!
So looking forward to this release. She’s a beauty!
Thanks for watching and commenting! The release won’t be long now! Enjoy the ride!
Awesome video of a beauty of the 30’ till todays sky’s. Ist and buy of the day of release. Thumbs up and always blue sky’s.
Thanks very much! Great history behind this airplane! The liveries for the initial release are fantastic! And blue skies to you!
I am pretty sure you had me at the engine sounds lol. Wow is that nice looking and sounding.
Thanks for the visit! Yes, a beautiful sounding aircraft for this sim! Please consider a subscription to the channel. Cheers, blue skies and thanks!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Thanks for the visit! State of the art 4K textures produced some incredible real world liveries! Blue skies!
Wow! That is one seriously handsome aircraft! 😳
Thanks for the visit and comment! Indeed, state of the art texture application to a very impressive aircraft design makes for a very handsome airplane!
Thanks to HCG for lifting this hidden gem. Never heard of Spartan.
First impression was it is too polished silver. But checking real videos, they are really shining with flush riveted wings.
Love radials sound and power. At 450 hp they are moving, but still a stable flight model.
Reason for purchase was radial sound. Love it. - But still not on par with A2A T6 Texan (p3d). A2A you can hear distinct difference from front -side - rear.
Start is also much better in A2A. Often you have to work the throttle as only a few cylinders initially fire up. Too often you also flood the engine. Running on starter with mixture closed for a blow out.- when firing you may add some mixture.
Cold, there is a huge lag in governor. Trying to advance throttle quickly it ends with a large canon bang .
Hope HCG will modify engine model - I find the Spartan a much better airplane than T6. And taildragger feels much more correct than DC3 during takeoff and rollout. Well done.
Thanks for cigs, and original manual on how to remove lipstick stains.
Hey, hey, hey! Nice to read when a user appreciates the entire package from model to manual! And we are only at Version 1.1! Thanks for your thorough assessment. The developer listens to the feedback. Always good to know how to remove lipstick stains! The roaring 30’s must have been a wild time! Blue skies!
Do you have a release date yet? And where will it be sold? Looks amazing!
Thanks for watching! Developer is planning for Monday May 22/23 on SimMarket. Blue skies!
Loks really beatiful (with real life ljvery, not fictional ones) and for an aviation historian like me a must buy. It is a shame that omnipresent Garmin on the right side of the cockpit. Don't they have done a variant without it, and maybe with a removable tablet like many developers do today?
Thanks for watching and visiting! I know what you mean with the Garmin installed. Many of the Spartans flying today have been modernized with a GPS installed. Many flight simmers also welcome the addition of an AP and enjoy the advantages of a GPS unit for longer flights. So it is a tough call exactly whether to include or not to include. Perhaps with enough demand the developer can include a version in the future to remove the Garmin as you suggest.
In the actual airplanes, NC17634 (KD102) has a Garmin 530W and an autopilot installed and N17617 has a Garmin 650.
thanks alot! after 6+ months steady work on this, I'm a bit burnt out, Ihave re-designed the console and other things at least 5 times each, I finally settled with what I have, and figure theres always gonna be updates I will be adding over time. So, I will see how the feedback goes and make any necessary adjustments!
@@TheFlightLevel yes I mean why not two version, with and without ...
@@HCG-DA no big problems, as said, looks really good, hope he fly like he looks. You can eventually do another version in the future.
Did you manage to record the engine audio directly?
not that lucky nor do i have the proper equipment!, but did find a decent collection to build off of :) plus there is a bit in the startup i used from Jims nc17634 :)
@@HCG-DA Oh, is it the set from Skysong Soundworks?
@@TheRealOzWookiee im not sure what that is, so im gonna say no.. lol! no, not 100% sure where i got all from but i had others help me collect what i needed! Thanks for your interest:)
@@HCG-DA Looking forward to the release.
@@TheRealOzWookiee Thanks!
Very interesting bird. However are the graphics and textures finalized in this video? Doesn't look quite up to snuff with most MSFS addons
Thanks for the look! 4K PBR textures are used!
Not sure that opening with the message "This was the product of pure self-indulgence at a time when so many were impoverished" was the best sales pitch evah, but I shall be buying this regardless.🙃
Hi and thanks for the visit! Opening message reflects the historical time as I include documentary content in many of the channel’s videos. No intention for a sales pitch as the product speaks for itself. Just setting up the era. Blue skies!
Well, it's a nice presentation, and fool that I am, went out and bought it early. I have to say it looks, sounds and flies great! But the ground handling is bad, I mean real bad. almost impossible to taxi, as back wheel lifts off the ground by the time you can actually move. Landing and take off? forget about it, you spin out so much that I actually managed to take off sideways! Please fix the flight dynamics.
thanks for the purchase, the ground handling issue is top priority, we are continuing to try and correct this. As soon as we have it fixed, I will post the update.
am i the only one that is really bothered by the curves around the windshield at the nose? it is not correct to my eye!
