*Irwin will eventually sell an actual whistle you can use for your animals as well, if you don't want to use the one in the enter menu.
*Sometimes in the mine dungeons you can find a guitar. Playing the guitar for your animals makes them happy, and lets you 'pet' all of them at once.
*Just like the forever hole, you can make a forever pile, if you don't have the compactor yet and don't know where to put dirt you are moving.
*You can pull aggressive animals through passive animals, and let them fight for you. This is a great way to get lots of meat on your first day, before you have tools. This also gives you hunting XP for some reason. 😅
*You can dive for sea creatures on your first day as well. This gives you fishing XP before getting the fishing pole, and gives you something to donate to the museum or sell.
*Sea creatures can go in chests. There used to be a sneaky way to put fish and bugs in chests, but I believe they patched that out. Fish and bugs can be placed on the ground if you want to store them. Bugs can be stacked two high. I keep a little stockpile of frequently asked for bugs and fish, like flies and grunters, so I can just give them to people quickly.
*A really good first day money maker is the cactus fig. You should be able to gather 300+ on that first day when time is stopped. Cook them all and sell them to John for a ton of money.
*Get the camera from the museum and take pictures. Take pictures of all the residents and things like rubies, that way when you get a request for one on the bulletin board you have one ready. You cant take photos of the residents while they are at work, so if they ask for a picture of someone, you'll have to wait until they are wandering outside, so it's useful to just have some photos already available. Some of the requests give you quite a bit of money for the photos, so it's worth the time.
*Get the charging station before or as soon as you start to get large tools like the compactor or jackhammer. Watch their stamina bar. If it reaches the end, that tool will break, and you'll need to craft another one. Make sure to pop those on the charging station to refill that stamina bar.
*Place your bridges at least one tile high so there's room to drive your boat or jet ski right under them.
*The repair station does seem like it's really expensive, but it repairs all of the tools you have on you. If you keep all your tools in a chest when they get low, you can just repair an entire pocketful at once, if you want.
That's all I can think of at 5:30 in the morning. 😅

When you build the fences for your animals, I would suggest not to place the gate as the NPCs are able to open the gate and your animals might get out. it is safer to have all fences as we can jump over it.

My tip is, Buy the basic tools like axes and pickaxes every day when first starting out. Always have tools on deck and you need a basic pick to make a copper pick :)

But make sure to keep all of the extras in a chest so they don't all take a hit if you do pass out!

This was pretty helpful, I used the advice & got a lot of supplies from exploring before getting knocked out by a bird while looking at the map.

Get the Boogie Board from the Deep Mines. Not only does it increase swimming speed to roughly walking speed, but also allows you to jump. Jumping, by the way, is incredibly useful since in the small window of time that you're in the air, you can switch to another item and use that, which I did use to kill one rather annoying runaway shark.

I think a useful tip for at least me is check what direction a building is if you messed with your camera direction. I mistakenly placed the visitor site backwards cause I didn't pay attention.
Had to start over cause it's against a hill & I don't want to wait until I have enough money. Wasn't that big of a deal cause while I was going to miss the island layout I didn't like where the dock was.(on a tiny island across from where I put everything else.
I did some stupid stuff especially not knowing how to eat food. Needed those tree limes I collected.

Easiest $ tip at start of the game. Catch all the bugs they sell for a very decent amount. Also cook your food and sell it for a good chunk of $ as well.

Change the keyboard drop key of Q to P so you don't keep accidentally dropping good things during battle.

I really want this on switch. Is that a durability gauge on the tools? If so that is so cool.
