This is My Reality of Bass Fishing...go out and just have fun. Keep casting/pitching until you catch something. Many fisherman what to turn fishing into a science project.
All I know is I suck at fishing....BUT, I suck less now than I did a year ago and I will suck less a year from now. I enjoy the challenge and learning more and more. The day I am no longer challenged by fishing will probably be my last but I doubt that will ever happen.
Dude. Thats me. But I honestly enjoy the outside time. I'd be lying if I said I don't care about catching them. Of course I want to catch one every other cast, but I really enjoy seeing Gods creation.....better than a good day at work for sure.
I fish to be out in nature and reboot my mental compass. I’ve had tough days and great days. But blessed to have the time and the means to participate in an activity that brings me inner peace.
Catching fish is a bonus!! Fishing is more about enjoying the outdoors, seeing wildlife and relaxing stress away!! I really don't mind if I don't catch anything!
Thanks Tyler. Great video and a great reminder. Been grinding hard this month and the struggle has been real lol. No fish in 2024 yet, but the key word in that sentence is ‘yet’. All I need is one! lol
Odd, I have been "bass fishing" for decades and never have to deal with anything mentioned in this video...maybe the title of the video should be "The Reality of PROFESSIONAL bass fishing." I think a lot of these guys are so caught up in their own world that they forget that for 99% of us, "bass fishing" is just recreational. It isn't all about tournament fishing.
Listened to this on my way to Smith Mountain Lake for my first BFL as a boater and only my third time on the lake. It was very apropos. Got one good bite in three days of hard fishing during 13 mph sustained winds with gusts to 30.
Thank you for doing this video ! A lot of our fellow content creators fail to explain that those 2 big bass that were caught in that 20 minute video were caught 4 hours apart. A person just learning to fish watches this and is discouraged after 2 hours and stops fishing because they think they have failed. It's important that we mention the amount of time we fished either verbally in the video or some where in the description. Great video. Stay safe !
My spring has been way rougher than usual too, my confidence has been all over the place, fishing and posting “content” wears on you especially when the struggle is on. I fished from 8-4 Wednesday and caught 5 dinks. Context with bass fishing gets blown way out of proportion with social media. Thanks for being real man 👊🏽
Great motivational stuff Tyler, thanks! My go to is drop shot and ned, except I always start with those and then if/when I catch some fish, I'm willing to experiment with other techniques. I actually was out this morning off the bank for a couple hours, my very first cast I got snagged in some rocks and lost my ned rig. I thought, "oh here we go...". Rather than re-rig the ned, I took out the drop shot and got two bass on the very next two casts. So I thought "awesome, today is looking much better". And then I didn't get one more bite after that. Fishing is sometimes a mystery!
Tyler, your message is so important because like much of what viewers are shown would have you believe that other anglers are catching fish on every cast. I think that a lot of us miss fish because if we are not getting bit, our attention wanes. Whenever I begin to feel as if I am going to get skunked, I have to force myself to believe that the next cast will be the cast on which I catch a fish, and the next cast, and the next cast. Each cast must represent hope and faith.
Glad to know my experience is normal. I am a beginner as I didn’t start fishing until a few years ago. I enjoy the whole experience of fishing as I am practicing casting and learning how to fish the different lures and techniques. Glad to know the lack of success at catching fish isn’t uncommon.
Just getting out on the lake, out of the house, in God's beautiful nature is what fishing is all about! A really bad day fishing is way better than a good day at work!! And all God's children said, Amen.
I moved from SoCal to Ohio in 2011. I used to fish for trout all the time, and it seemed a hell of a lot easier than bass fishing. But, I've also been out of the angler game since I left Cali. I've caught 3 fish in the past 2 yrs just bank fishing. I didn't get out a lot, so not catching fish every time out happens more often than not! Appreciate the videos! Keep up the good work, as I've learned a lot about bass fishing from your channel!
Yesterday made me feel like a chump again so this video helped. I was all over the bass all day bc I could see them on active target but couldn’t buy a bite.
Cool that you mentioned Kyle I get to fish against him a lot here locally on my home lake really good guy super down to earth and just willing to talk fishing with anybody🙌
Hell yeah man! The struggle is real but the fish are there…. Finding them, well that’s a different story! Just keep slinging, I fished a tournament recently and fished good all day with no bites only to catch a 5+ in the last 30 minutes to give us a 3rd place finish 🎣
I returned to the sport after a long break. I find that I don't get as upset if I don't catch anything. When I do catch something, it makes it that much more fun to reel in. I don't have a boat anymore so bank fishing is all I can do for now. Thanks for all your help and insight to the sport.
I'm in the exact same "boat", No boat so just bank fishing our terrible local lake. It's a good day when I get a bite, even better when I get them to the bank, I don't sweat it, It's still relaxing to just get out and be in nature and maybe catch a fish.
I have more bad days than good. But it’s like golf, I make 17 drives and hit everything on the course. Then there’s that one magic sweet spot hit that crushes the ball 300 yards out. I’m ready to play again. In fishing I catch 200 dinks but I get that one 5lb bass that makes me come back
Went fishing after church last Sunday and only caught 2 haha. I don’t get discouraged. I just love being outside enjoying nature. I bank fish so every now and again someone comes past me and speaks a few minutes. Sometimes I get the chance to help someone else catch fish. Give them the ol’ reliable wacky rig, and watch them start catching fish.
I've many more bad dYs than good days to be honest. The number of O-fer days is much larger than days where everything seemed to go really good and I caught fish. But it's those GOOD days that makes me try again, and keeps me going back. Not from a tournament approach, but just the enjoyment of catching fish approach! Nothing like being on the water testing your skills against Bass where you really don't know what they will hit...some days I throw EVERYTHING, but like Tyler said, the goal is try at least catch that first fish, and go from there!
Same thing in golf Tyler. If You watch a golf tournament on weekends, on Saturday and Sunday you’re watching the guys that are playing the best that week. But there are many pros that played poorly on Thursday and Friday and didn’t make the two day cut, and they are sitting at home on Saturday and Sunday with the rest of us
How about we just go out and enjoy the day we are blessed to wake up to. Any fish we catch is a bonus. A day on the water is better than any day at work! Live, Love, and Fish!
The best fisherman have less of those crappy days... But everyone has them... But usually with tournaments, everyone struggles on tough days, you just have to struggle less to win 🏆
Tell me about it. Took Thursday off to fish with minimal boat traffic. Fished my butt off. No live scope used. Got 2 bites and 1 largemouth in the first 90 min, then jack squat after that. Locals on ramp said two cold mornings shut down the bite. Still had fun but I understand the struggle ! haha. At least you got a limit of keepers
With multiple screens, transducers and accuracy of sonar, it's turned into Bass catching. It's less fishing than anything else. The reason why the average of the field is catching few bass compared to the top 10, is because the fisheries are getting gutted with high accuracy, and fidelity sonar. Weigh in distributions used to be more spread out, and now it's a polarizing few heavy bags followed by sadness
What I think is, all you bass tournament angler's has ruined bass fishing or regular fishing for all of us blue collar angler's. With all your $100,000 bass boats with 300 hp motors flying up the damn lake all day, doing 90 mph, we blue collar workers in our $5,000 boats, spend more time trying to stay on our spot because you don't have the manners to slow down for the other angler's. The damn lakes looks like the ocean out there. Take away all those electronics and see how good of a angler you really are! A family cannot have a good time on the water anymore!
Every lake is different where I live there’s lakes where I just plain hammer the bass then I go to another lake with a huge population of big fish and I’ll spend all day to catch one or two fish. It’s always fun to fish the lakes with the dumb bass but catching a Smart Bass is more rewarding.
Also, important to note that those pros have many thousands of dollars in electronics and hundreds of hours in using them to help find fish. The average angler probably has a decent 7 or 9 inch graph and a fraction of the experience. No comparison.
we definately get our expections too high from what we see on the tv and media. i am not a great angler but I enjoy my time bank fishing. i try to improve my technique but i know i will never be" great" but I enjoy what i doing even when im skunked. I see guys who get upset at catching 15 lbs of fish.(pb is about 8 lbs in a day) But sometimes it is hard when you watch fishing videos and everyone is just catching ... catching ... catching. But these videos and tourneys broadcast the action across all the competitor's or are edited for time sake. For most of us fishIng is a hobby and JUST having a few hours or a day two a month our expectations can be a little high. Bottom line is I rather Enjoy being a "bad" angler than be "mad" at being a good one.
The reality of having this is that you have to really fish your heart out for a year or two or more…without clean days without that perfect weather and without taking home any decent money & really experience the Highs & Lows before you can really step into confident self growth and make better decisions that will put you in that small class of hammers!
I can do 2 or 3 days sometime and not catch hardly anything, the sad part is I live 100 yds from a good mo/ar reservoir. Normally the longer the non bite the better it is when I catch them. I would prefer to be more consistent and would really like it if I could win some of the tournaments here, oh well wish in one hand and poop in the other is the old saying. Like your channel.
I live in Jersey.Have gone 3 or 4 tournaments and caught 5 fish total. I get,in Jersey we all get it. The Elites fished The Delaware and most want to never see it again. Location location location.
Yea all those pros that went out an did that with ffs during the best time of the year an people trying to say lakes an fishing in general arent goin down hill
You have no reality of life. Millions of us are poor. We go to Walmart and buy the cheapest rod and reel. We are lucky if we catch any fish, from sundown to sunset. That is reality.
Kyoya fujita and Robert Gee are some of the best there are at FFS..we saw both of them struggle at Fork...Kyoya took all day to catch 5 fish..Robert finished nearly in last place...FFS is not point, cast, catch
@@TylerBergerFishingbut the tournament, and all tournaments are still won with FFS. If you have that on your boat and know how to use it the days of getting skunked are long gone.
Soyo caught 7 bass my question how many people you piss off sitting in front of the Gas pump that whole time😮 just messing with you keep the videos coming you have great content

Hats are awesome! I got the green and cream. Sun shirts are top quality MADE IN THE USA!
You caught 7!? Sounds like a good day... Im lucky anytime i dont get skunked. If i get 3 fish im flying high all week
Dude for real!! Me too!!!! if I catch one fish out on the lake for eight hours, I’m happy! I guess I really suck at this!
I live in a house with four women. Every day I go fishing is a great day of fishing!😃
Your like me, to much estrogen up in there.
This is My Reality of Bass Fishing...go out and just have fun. Keep casting/pitching until you catch something. Many fisherman what to turn fishing into a science project.
Hell yeah brother. I fish with a surface lure 90% of the time because that top water bite can make me jump out of my seat sometimes.
All I know is I suck at fishing....BUT, I suck less now than I did a year ago and I will suck less a year from now. I enjoy the challenge and learning more and more. The day I am no longer challenged by fishing will probably be my last but I doubt that will ever happen.

Poor fishing days come and go but having confidence in your baits and presentations is key
Outstanding. Excellent reminder sometimes it's just fishing, and not always catching.
All I need is one! lol
5 keepers in 7 hours doesn’t sound too bad for March. Can’t wait to see the lake break! Thanks for the video!
Great video. Thanks for the pep talk. I fished all day today and never got a bite.
When you fish for fun and peace, you don't want to put such pressure on yourself that it becomes like a job, that' for the Pros.
Listened to this on my way to Smith Mountain Lake for my first BFL as a boater and only my third time on the lake. It was very apropos. Got one good bite in three days of hard fishing during 13 mph sustained winds with gusts to 30.

Omg was about to sat the same thing I hate those guys
Like c'mon, there's a whole parking lot there and at the boat launch
Clueless at the pump. Thinking of others isn’t common.

Tyler, great video! I needed to see this today after a few trips out getting skunked I was starting to second guess myself. Thank you.

Many feel that with all the "new equipment " they should catch lots of fish every time out...Ain't gonna happen Roscoe.

Why fishing is getting tougher? If baits and tackle are getting much better? Is it bc of the overpopulation?
