When people say just because you see them on FFS doesn't mean they will bite are wrong. Scott Martin proved that at the tournament at Lake Okeechobee where he chased down this big bass for 1hour until he caught it. Instead of it being a reaction bite it was an irritated bite. Irritate them until they bite.
And.. he’s an elite. Should have NEVER been allowed to fish an open.. elites in opens should be banned.. if you can’t qualify in the division you belong in then maybe you don’t belong there…😮
It really sucks that FFS is allowed in the High School Bass Association Tournaments as well. We dont have one and there are a few other kids that dont have one. We dont even have a chance compared to all the other kids whose dad has the FFS. We were on Rayburn a couple weeks ago in the tournament and all you seen is people standing on the front of their boats staring at a screen trying to catch deep water fish. Just ridiculous. Its not that Im ticked I dont have one, I just dont think it should be allowed in High School. Not all kids can afford to have FFS setup. Make these kids all fish on a level playing field. At least at a minimum, have FFS allowed tournaments and FFS not allowed tournaments. I would like to see all these anglers bring in the fish they catch without FFS. It wont happen.

If you’re a recreational fisherman, buying a $100,000 Ikon/Cat/Vexus/Phoenix/FXR. You’re either filthy rich, have money to blow, use it as a tax write off, or care too much about what people think. If you’re a rec fisherman with 6x 12”-16” graphs on your boat, you’re outside your needs. You don’t have to buy a LX21, VX21, 921 elite, FXR21, F21 Predator etc. i have a ‘20 F195 Falcon, with 2 helix 10s at the console that came on the boat, a helix 10 and Garmin 126 with LS at the bow. The boat has 28hrs on it when i bought it in ‘21 and I paid 56k for that boat. I had a ‘97 Sprint 286 before that. My truck is a 2015 Silverado. Excellent commentary I have so much to say after listening to your position on what’s happening today in our sport but really do not know where to start. Thank you for taking a stand.
I started searching for this video the moment I saw the title of the other video pop up on my feed. It’s a sad time in competitive bass fishing… Keep preaching Randy!
The sport of bass fishing is in trouble on so many levels and no one is stepping up to govern this mess. Where is this generation's Ray Scott? Keep going Randy!
Although I dont disagree. It’s funny, a guy I know that’s been fishing all his life has said to me, “ I see no difference. Sometimes I catch fish, sometimes I don’t. I haven’t noticed a change in any of my fisheries.” I think it’s all perspective. I watch these types of vids so, In my mind fishing is over, my hobby is done. He watches nothing so, In his, “what are you rambling on about, get that lure wet and let’s listen to nature and not your worries.”
If Ray Scott was still alive I believe he would tell all the Never Scopers to shut it and deal with it. Ray was a no nonsense guy that had a dream to further the sport in any way possible. FFS will never be banned, limited sure but never banned.
A compromise would probably be to make a new branch of tournaments. Electronic heavy that allows foward facing sonar and a tournament for old school. Bassmaster Classic and Bassmaster Futures
Too late. They already have them it's called kayak tournaments. There's going to be a bass tournament here in Michigan and I think 4 other states. Kayaks only. Can't wait
Now we are talking , get em MrRandy , and we agree with you BASS needs to stop letting these guys use this tech , it’s cheating , it’s spotlighting , it’s taking over the use of big tackle bags full of tackle , Tackle Warehouse , and Bass Pro Shops profits on tackle is going down hill , no one needs all the tackle we needed before , it’s going to get to where they only need FFS baits , no more big tackle bags , we need these companies to bring up that their losing profits w tackle cause of FFS
Somebody needs to setup an incentive program that will pay the top two anglers who don't use FFS a bonus. This could be similar to how boat manufacturers pay a bonus to the top finisher using their boat. A sponsor like Bridgeford would make a huge splash with a program like this and it would allow the anglers who don't use FFS to actually win some money.
That’s a great idea. Give a fish weight total goal for a season or tournament to reach and have it teared so if you hit this weight without ffs pays this and if you hit this weight then you hit the second tear and get this much money. I love this idea.
Randy could even set this up himself. Ask for fan donations and then give out "Randy Blauket Awards" to the top finishers who don't use FFS. Imagine if he raised a lot of money for that from fans. It would be a strong signal to Bassmaster.
@@haphartmann3394 I don’t think we are anywhere near there yet. Good luck finding one without them on tour. And the incentive to NOT run one would need to be huge to make up for it.
Really appreciate the Zaldains for putting together that video to shed light on what's going on. It's gotten completely out of control...the sport has morphed into something unrecognizable. This is not the same sport I fell in love with when first starting out...
Matt Herren spoke up on Facebook but the editor of Bassmaster Magazine quickly shut him down. If you don’t kiss butt and tow the line you will get black listed.
You hit the nail right on the head, Randy. As far as being a spectator, there is nothing I hate more than watching someone staring down at a graph all day. Not fun. I also think this minimizes all the previous records and accomplishments in the professional Bass angler tournaments.
watched Zaldangerous video first thing this morning and was waiting for you to respond as he mentioned you at the end. just so disgusted with FFS, ITS NOT FISHING! i refuse to watch MLF and Elite tour, everyone in Randy's camp needs to do the same, dont watch their RUclips channels either. Randy stay strong you are on the correct side of this issue and you have a lot of support.
I quit watching ALL bass tournaments due to FFS and won’t watch any till it’s banned. That’s not fishing….I’m 78 and still fishing. Also the millions of panfish they’re catching….DISGUSTING!!!
At one time these pros didn’t have electronics and were still catching fish. Now they just catch more fish 👍🏼 as a matter of fact, I’d say it makes them even better at fishing without electronics because they used these things to see where fish are and can tell where fish would be better after electronics than before they had it. What it really comes down to is people are jealous they can’t afford what these pros have (myself included) and so they want to strip them of what they have to help the little guys like me feel like it’s a little more fair when we are all in different “tournaments” in the first place. And I’m a really old fashioned fella but even I would like to have the best tools to help me catch fish if I could.
There’s absolutly zero data to back up any of these claims. None, no scientific data or any other. FFS has been around for a long time, especially in the crappie world and every fishery around that I know of is just as healthy. It’s a bogus claim with no data to back it up and that’s been proven over and over and over again.
@@keithbranson4881kyle welcher said the same in one of his videos he has a lot of points against ffs but he has to do it and i believe him he’s a very level headed dude
You are 100% correct. Deer hunting with a thermal image drone is not hunting. That is why its illegal. Fair chase is important. We can drain the lake and pick up the fish with a shovel. We could have a robot with a shovel do it. The states need to ban them. I would eliminate side imaging as well. The live imaging is beyond acceptable.
I too love Dangerous and what they do. I watched the video yesterday and my take away ? Every veteran he interviewed either said they wanted to go back to fishing or, they clearly were uncomfortable having it in their boats. Plus, the vets had the least amount on the boats. You could see it in their eyes, even Scot Martens body language showed the discomfort. They are clearly being forced into this and honestly, they are stuck. Great great video and will help bring more light to the ridiculous nature of how things have become. 👌
I don’t agree with u sometimes in your bantering but u are 1000% right in this. I’m sick of listening to guys like Zona and Mercer just cow-towing the electronic trend and I’m real disappointed in Chris Dawes not stepping up his man pants to take charge and not just be a lamb. Dawes is a very good man but someone needs balls and apparently it’s not him.
Mercer is a loud mouth know it all... I cant stand to listen to him ..lol and I don't now Hey Chris wasn't condoning the electronics he was pointing how horrible it has gotten he is a huge fun of getting rid of and get back to fishing
First time I’ve partially agreed with you. I’ll never support banning FFS, but those setups on Zaldain’s video were flat out ridiculous. There needs to be some sort of regulation similar to a salary cap in the NFL. Something like 4 graphs max.
They are starting to ban cell cameras for hunting because people have taken it way too far far. I go to the outdoor to get away from stuff like this and the art woodsman ship is a lost art and people are sitting and waiting on a deer to be on cell camera sent to the phone and they go out and hunt that spot which like I said they have went to far with it. I walk one acre of public land and I see 20-30 cameras
I’m in southern Indiana and I see a lot of regs start in the west and move our way so I think you’re right in that as long as it’s allowed on that lake or that state the tournaments will allow it. I’m worried in 30ish years fish will be a protected species because of electronics like this and it’s going to get better and cheaper so every person will have it and not everyone is smart enough to know how to handle fish that is pulled from deep water where fish go to hide. It’s not sustainable at all. Really it should only be used for fish study type of people
I’m going to start talking to my state legislators about stopping tournament fishing…. I seen Zs You tube yesterday- we are destroying our natural resources.
Somebody call a whambulance - Randy's about to keel over. What good are all of those transducers and graphs without a very expensive, GPS-controlled trolling motor to keep you "spot-locked" over the fish you find? So, we gotta get rid of the trolling motor, too...right? You mention $50,000 so many times it should be a drinking game, but how much does a steering wheel cost on an F1 car? Oh yeah, about $50,000! Are people whining that they ain't racing anymore? It's as simple as this, sir...if you don't like it, don't use it. If the governing body(s) of the sport think it's hurting the sport, they'll restrict them. What you don't seem to understand is you and your nostalgic viewpoint cannot define what viewers and sponsors want to see. You have this holier-than-thou, doom and gloom outlook on every single topic out there, and it's getting REALLY old, man...really old. If you want to advocate for a "low-tech" tournament circuit, where a bunch of old-heads go out and catch a lot less fish for the cameras to record, then put your money where your mouth is and put that tournament circuit together! If you think that's what viewers and sponsors want to see, well, you're wrong, but go ahead and practice what you preach. Otherwise, learn to accept change and stop living in the past. (It's pretty ironic how much money you're making from RUclips, while complaining about how everything new is "bad".)
I’ve been a BassMaster member for 15 years.. I’ve emailed them & let them know how boring watching the Elite Series is.. I don’t plan to renew my membership & that’s sad.. I hope they do the right thing. It’s getting totally out of hand
Watching bassmaster for hours on end is not a comparison to what you may have watched in the past. You used to watch a one hour show loaded with fish catches. Would you consider watching an angler go jig fishing for several hours where you might get six bites all day. I consider Blaukat as a knowledgable fisherman who has much to offer but he is the one who used to jump over logs and load his boat with water to enter areas that would normally be off limits. Thus the rules were changed to prevent this from happening. The one thing that FFS has proven is that 90% of the fish are behind you if you are casting towards the shore, something that Elwood "Buck" Perry brought forth more than fifty years ago.
@Insurance-Rep we've always known there are tons of fish in a body of water, not at the shore. Just nobody knew exactly where they were, and the shore was the highest chance of finding some. These fish need to have somewhere to go to be left alone. With FFS and all these other electronics the fish have zero chance and it's disgraceful and will ruin these lakes for future generations.
It was pretty fun to see these pro's setups ... it's all about efficiency for them. The reason they all have so many graphs is that they want to dedicate a graph to a single function. Each graph is dedicated to do8ng only one thing so they have one for FFS, one for mapping, one for 360. They are also running multiple transducers so they don't have to constantly switch between them. Is it truly necessary? Not really it just makes things easier for them. You don't see recreational anglers doing this. We just have 1 or 2 graphs on the console and 1 or 2 on the bow and just switch modes between them when we need to use different modes. The world of bass fishing does not revolve around pro tournaments. The fact that 200 guys have $30k of electronics on their boat is pretty much meaningless to the rest of the 5 million bass fisherman in the US ...
Thee was this 11yr old in Texas who just recently caught a record 14lb largemouth using live scope. I agree it ain't fishing. It's like an entire police force comprised of 8s - 10s posing as prostitutes, walking the streets, approaching civilians with propositions and then arresting anyone that gives in. It's electronic fish in a barrel.
Back in the 80s and 90s, I met Ray Scott at Bass Pro in Springfield MO. I asked him why did he create BASS. He told me that it was a way to take a weekend angler who had a little extra money and offer a way for them to compete. A very low entry fee, mainly bragging rights. It was a basic grass roots business. Guys spent hours learning their home waters in order to be the Stick on their lake. Back then, bass fishing brought all kinds of guys to the fore front earning them respect for putting the time, money, and energy into the sport. Now, today, March 4th, 2024 and saw these guys staring at a screen, hunting down bass that they never would have seen, they might as well buy their trophy! That's what they are doing! Buying their trophy. Just like Steinbrenner did with the Yankees years ago.
Have been watching your channel for many years, was about 80% against FFS but saw Chris’s video yesterday it made me sick. Watch Matt Allen on today’s Tactical and it may make you feel a little bit better. He is fishing on a tin boat, no electronics and nailing them explaining how he looks at conditions and applies it to his fishing.
My forward facing sonar is bluetoothed to my dc reel so the perfect amount of line is cast and the reel is self cranking so the corresponding bait runs at the right distance and depth.
I've been a BASS member since the 70's & have always enjoyed in watching & learning new techniques. FFS has taken the actual skill level to an absolute low. I questioned side imaging when it came out, however I have adapted & like it, but has never replaced my way of fishing, but has greatly enhanced my way of discovering new places & provided me with more of a underwater picture of the places I do fish. Nothing should take away actual fishing & the experience needed to & the surprise of, catching that one in a lifetime fish. Go Randy Go!
Randy you've been spot on about all the things you've talked about concerning FFS. I watched the video last night myself and the amount of electronics on all of the boats is absolutely 💯 ridiculous. 5 to 8 graphs 4 transducers and let's not forget the newest thing Boat breaks of all things up to $60K just to fish.
What I love about fishing is the focus required to catch fish. Figuring how the weather conditions, what the lure is doing and where are the fish has to be learned and forward facing tech is just eliminating these process and steps. Forward Facing Sonar is the fast food of fishing; "I don't have the time to learn how to fish I just want to catch fish."
Randy, Thank you for standing tall on this issue. Me and my kids use to bond over fishing and watching bass tournaments. My kids like video games but even they do not like watching anglers staring at a screen. They have lost all interest in watching fishing tournaments which really sucks! FFS has ruined fishing! And kids and adults interest in watching the sport of bass fishing
Sad, but then they turned fishing into a boat race decades ago. If you really wanted a competition, that would be a sport, and find out who the best fishermen were. you'd need to limit the boats to pedal drive kayaks with no sonar. Now that would be something. You could probably allow an ice chest with beverages, even beer and some dry storage for cigars and or doobies. Now that would be fishin. I think A I is for people that lack intelligence, people that have intelligence don't need it.
Well said Randy. I don’t compete in tournaments at all. I fish because I love it and grew up with it, but I still feel like fishing has gotten exceedingly worse since FFS became more and more popular. I live on the Potomac River. Occasionally MLF tournaments will come by and blow up all my spots and I sit there and shake my head at them all staring at their screens, taking away healthy chunks to weigh in somewhere else, where the fish will inevitably die from the stress of being in a live we’ll all day.
Guess fishing is going to turn into who has the most money..not bashing just saying the average working man isnt going to be able to keep up most of the time,we might have a 3-5month window to have our best chance..but when they predominately go offshore, summer, winter they definitely have the advantage..not complaining, and congratulations to all that can afford it all but i do have to agree with you..even if i could afford it i dont want all of that in my way,a couple on the front and couple at the console is more than enough for me

Same thing happens at tournaments during the spawn without FFS

I totally agree, but its not the LS'ers ruining it.
Hey it's just capitalism. How this country works. And yes, it sucks
A compromise would probably be to make a new branch of tournaments. Electronic heavy that allows foward facing sonar and a tournament for old school. Bassmaster Classic and Bassmaster Futures

I like this. $1000 Strike King bonus for fish caught on a Strike King jig…or something similar.
Randy could even set this up himself. Ask for fan donations and then give out "Randy Blauket Awards" to the top finishers who don't use FFS. Imagine if he raised a lot of money for that from fans. It would be a strong signal to Bassmaster.

More and more pros, including some big names, are starting to speak out against FFS on vids, podcasts, and interviews. Support is definitely growing.
Randy, can you please do a video on your boat and electronic set up, its cost and how you use it? It would be most helpful. Thank you.
What sucks is even if the fishing industry bans FFS in tournament fishing it won’t help the fact that it’s decimating the crappie
Very true
Absolutely
Also decimating the Striper and Hybrid populations. The meat fishermen using LS and FFW will empty out lakes in a matter of just few years now.
I wish people would talk about it more crappie with be completely gone in the next 20 years seriously
There’s absolutly zero data to back up any of these claims. None, no scientific data or any other. FFS has been around for a long time, especially in the crappie world and every fishery around that I know of is just as healthy. It’s a bogus claim with no data to back it up and that’s been proven over and over and over again.

Hey Chris wasn't condoning the electronics he was pointing how horrible it has gotten he is a huge fun of getting rid of and get back to fishing
He’s been saying this sentiment the entire time. People are finally starting to get it.
First time I’ve partially agreed with you. I’ll never support banning FFS, but those setups on Zaldain’s video were flat out ridiculous. There needs to be some sort of regulation similar to a salary cap in the NFL. Something like 4 graphs max.
How about the state’s wildlife agencies ban these electronics!
Really it should only be used for fish study type of people
Now this is a great idea!!! I think it's time to address the states with this.

Same with MLF .
Not all use it but most and the one's who win , do.
Amen. Keep fighting the good fight Randy, thank you!
Kids trying to get into tournament fishing won’t have a chance if their parents don’t make an excessive amount of money
Not many people will ever catch 50k worth of fish in a lifetime.

Lots of respect to you Randy. You talk about the things that none of the other pros will.
My forward facing sonar is bluetoothed to my dc reel so the perfect amount of line is cast and the reel is self cranking so the corresponding bait runs at the right distance and depth.
Very nice Randy. Totally agree.

You’re doing the noble thing and I really appreciate it.
Your spot on Randy.
Totally agree with your concerns! With advanced sonar technology on the rise, it will kill Bass Master! You can no longer call this fishing!

Thank you Randy. 👍
Hell yea Randy , spot on man . This might be one of your best videos
Thank you Randy for speaking out.
With you 100%, ffs should be banned from walleye tournaments also..
Guess fishing is going to turn into who has the most money..not bashing just saying the average working man isnt going to be able to keep up most of the time,we might have a 3-5month window to have our best chance..but when they predominately go offshore, summer, winter they definitely have the advantage..not complaining, and congratulations to all that can afford it all but i do have to agree with you..even if i could afford it i dont want all of that in my way,a couple on the front and couple at the console is more than enough for me
Go Randy Go! Thanks for being our voice and don't stop. History will be on your side, you're speaking the truth and we appreciate it.
Well said! Keep fighting!
