    Insert a foam earplug in the tube to either slow the fall or to make it float off the bottom. This gives bass the opportunity to bite it on the fall or as it’s floating.
    You can also dip the foam in some scent before inserting it into the tube.

    Randy, I don't have a dad to teach me the fishing wisdom and secrets that people who are a certain age have. I now have 2 youngins and less time to get on the water and learn.
    Nobody is gonna hate you for this video, you didn't say anything you haven't already. I know people can only say so much about the same techniques, TacticalBassin does it too, but I was really hoping to hear something new and different about fishing a tube. I just fished my first tube last year and loved it, really want to build on it.
    Much love, peace

      Yes, I also was all ears wanting to hear something new and about this "closely guarded secret". I guess the secret is just the fact that you need to consider fishing a tube more, and don't put it on the back burner as an old, worn out lure/technique.

    In the early 90's we used to put an alkaselzer tab in the tube to create a popping air bubbling lure 😂....it actually would catch bass 😅

    ... Tubes are a great bait for many techniques ,, the 4" with and without a solid head or all hollow for flipping /pitching .... smaller 2"-3" tubes with leaded jig hooks put internal with line eye poked through ,, great for smallmouth with a spiral fall ... Tubes have won many tournaments all year ....

    I have never fished a tube purely because i didn't know how and where. As a bank angler i thought i will never work but i will try it for sure. Lofs of lillypads and grass in our local dams here in South Africa. MUST work, even from the bank.

    My standard flipping tube setup was always no more than a 3/16. Anymore than that you take away the spiraling fall,of the tube. If that is what’s working.

    Randy, I remember back in the late 90's when I lived on Table Rock, you were killing it up in Kings River on a tube bait in a tournament. Rumor had it that you were nailing over 100 bass per day on tubes! Can't remember if you won but everyone around was buying out tubes at Lucky Strike and they couldn't make enough of them, lol. Those were the days!

  • @rockytopwrangler2069
    @rockytopwrangler2069 6 месяцев назад +1

    ... Lots of tricks for tubes ... there are a few different small rattles that can be inserted into the tube ,, great for bed fishing or just a slow presentation ..... can also add gel type scent into the tube .... another trick I use is to put in a tube rattle ,, break up an Alka Selzer tablet ,, put a piece in the tube then add the gel type scent behind it to "plug" and slow the release of effervescent bubbles while shaking on the "sweet spot" of a bed ... HANG ON ... ..... OOPS !! Secret's out now ....

    I love fishing a tube and I’ve used a ton of different hooks but I found the ultimate tube hook it’s a Trokar TK190 or the Eagle Claw tube hook, the Regular Eagle Claw is the same hook just a needle point instead of the Trokar point and it’s cheaper than the Trokar but either one is the best tube hook you will ever find and I use a 4 to 4 1/2 inch tube and you will want a 4/0 or 5/0 I prefer the 5/0 on a 4 or 4 1/2 inch tube also that hook is great for creature baits also, I love that hook and I’m 100% sure you guys will also

    Randy, couldn't you cut bottom of tube, and barley hook into top, make u in and out slot, then drop it back down into tube make it weedless? Or will action b same if u skin hook on side? I fish river 70 percent of time, hang ups are everywhere, I lose to many hooks and tunes fishing a exposed hook.

    Awesome Randy! Thank you! I remember seeing a Bill Dance episode when I was a kid, where he took a tube and inserted a ribbon tail worm into it (so the worm tail would be hanging out of the bottom of the tube); he rigged it weedless, similar to how you did in this video. I tried it myself, and would work the lure much like a soft jerk bait. And that thing would slay bass from Florida to North Carolina.

    The tube is 1 bait i just can't get interested in using...works for many people, but i have no confidence in throwing it...MUST have confidence in throwing any bait to be effective...Of course, unless you're a Scoper...doesn't matter what bait or skill level u are in actual fishing

    There are too many pieces to the "skirt" of most tubes. After separating the pieces, I pinch out every other one. There are still plenty left, but they have more slack, and move around better.
