Great story and I’m hearing about things like this more now. That’s a good thing. I have a great AD and waited 5 months for an Air King. I love pilot watches and it was worth the wait.

@@KCTimeShare it was last year in the end of april 22. I went to a Tudor /Rolex AD (also Omega Breitling...) I tried several watches. First Rolex multiple OP DJ GMT 2 Root Beer. I bought à just released Tudor GMT root beer which was my favorite against it's Rolex. Love at first sight. I had à super expérience and à good chat with the ad associate. I came back to pay i had problèmes with my card. The ad associate told me to think about a combinaison for a DJ after i eliminated OP (i hate domed bezel) . The next day i came back to tell him the combination and he said OK to order. I paid 30% and waited à year to have my beautiful DJ 41 steel and yellow gold, smooth bezel, black dial, indexes with diamonds on jubillee. Now that i established myself as a good client i have access to pro Rolex i hope for a sub blue steel and gold next year or à Batman GMT. Last time i was there, i tried à BB GMT opalin BB 58 and the new BB gray on jubillee and à vintage Rolex GMT coke for the pleasure. I did not buy my Tudor to have a Rolex. I think i could buy a DJ being à new customer with safety shoes. No need to have fancy clothing. So i continue my "watch journey" 3 models for now maybe, 4 before Christmas and a second Rolex next year. Is it a fine story ? Ordering à Rolex wearing ugly safety shoes only 4 days only after entering in the shop for the first time.
@@axelr9378 This is a very interesting story, thanks for sharing! I was surprised your AD would take deposit for a Rolex model, the ADs in my area said they couldn't give an 'accurate' estimated time for arrival and therefore would not take deposit to avoid disappointment. Congrats on starting your Rolex journey with a classic, I hope it does get a lot of wrist time whilst you wait for your Sub and GMT! I am on the same boat as you, I didn't buy Tudor to get a Rolex, whilst Tudor is often seen as a 'poor man Rolex', I think Tudor offers something quite different and I love both brands. Enjoy your Tudor Root Beer and Rolex DJ41 until you get the call! Hopefully it will come sooner than you think! 🫡
Thanks for your anwser. Yes my AD asked for a deposit to order the watch. In fact i was never on a waiting list, that will be the same for my next order. Unfortunately you have to wait one year between orders. Rolex gives them à quantity each year so they take deposit order watches and AD never know when they will receive the watch. So no waiting list. Original combinations with multiple metal... Take time to make. Maybe Rolex produces by combination so you have to wait until production comes to your combination. AD told me from 2 months to 1 year. Maybe rotating combination is one per year. Giving quota for each ref to AD allows Rolex to plan production they know how many watches they will sell and ref. They May dedicate à team for each most popular model and à batch to produce for each rotating combination. Avoiding changes in combination May allow to avoid mistakes and adjusting things. Those are just hypothesis. I think it can be useful to know how Rolex produces.
I have heard the term "application for approval" a few times now. From my past experience, if they are happy to put your "application" forward, it is likely that you will get the "allocation" 😉
New subscriber here. Loved the insight of your video. I bought a Tudor from an AD and a month later, got offered a 2 tone rose gold datejust Wimbledon. When it came to what I wanted next, I asked for a submariner or an OP41 and was told I have to wait 3 months before I could buy again. After I get either the sub or OP, do you think it is appropriate for me to ask for a gmt/sky dweller? I’m pretty sure I can’t get a daytona yet
Thanks for subscribing and congrats on picking up some new pieces! I think GMT/Sky Dweller would still be hard to achieve as GMT has super high demand and SD is a complicated watch to produce thus supply is usually lower. That said, I have heard many people starting getting their calls recently and are able to pick up Rolex watches from ADs, so it is worth having a conversation with your AD to enquire about these watches. Good luck!
Thanks man! I think between the Submariner and the Submariner Date, I would go for the Submariner because I like the dial symmetry. I will reveal it in an up-coming video soon (hopefully)!
Further evidence that the supply/demand imbalance is coming back into alignment. Patience will pay off. For a historic example, an AD in Houston was offering a ridiculously high 'tade in value' for my nasty cheap watch against a Sub that amounted to a 10% discount on the Rolex.
